  1. Haven't watched AVGN in probably 10 years now and was watching Mike Matei on a live stream. Is it just me or is the whole [email protected] - fvck and all the rest lingo getting old and childish? I mean yeah it was kinda funny back when the whole AVGN thing started. But watching a guy my age sitting there live streaming games winging about everything cursing like a teenager is just cringy and hard to watch. Half of it just sounds like he's putting it on and faked anyway. Really drops the content quality as there is many better non cursing you tubers these days. Im just thinking the whole "angry gamer" thing has ran it's course...

I never found it amusing but I am in the minority with that opinion. On a similar note I used to love Zero Punctuation's Yahtzee and his game reviews but lately they feel like they are phoned in and canned... if you have heard one you have heard them all.

@TwentySixHundred: Yeah, pretty much in agreement with you on AVGN having run his course.  Never really got into him; about the third time I watched one of his videos he seemed like a one-trick-pony and the novelty had worn off.  Hard to believe he's still pulling the same schtick today.

In one of the last videos I saw of him, he described the tank controls of Countdown Vampires, an obscure Resident Evil clone for the PS1, as something alien and strange: "now check this out, instead of moving to the direction you see like Mario 64, you move to the direction the character sees...". There are so many great games with tank controls in the 90s and he probably didn't play any of them because they were not released in Nintendo consoles.

Similarly, Ian from the Pat & Ian podcast recently said that his favorite year in gaming was 2000 because he played some Pokemon game. And their experience with the PS2 was weird: Ian didn't mention any game and Pat said he played Midnite Club. No Ico or Shadow of the Colossus for them.

I feel like diehard Nintendo or Sega fans missed out on a lot of great gaming experiences during the 90s and early 00s. PC gaming was huge in 1990-1995 and there was a constant flow of masterpieces on Sony consoles from 1997 to 2004.
