Had my first dose last week and it hit me like a tonne of bricks. Not looking forward to the second dose.

  2. I can't get used to Door Dash/Ubereats.  My renter orders it all the time and I get antsy over people/cars near my house..

Guess it depends where you live. When ordering take-out we use it and never had any problems. Usually just people wanting some sort of work when times are tough. Also usually they're really nice as they want good reviews

  3. Modern Vintage Gamer on his Quake port:

I anticipate his coverage of 7800 Basic and JagStudio.

I highly doubt it. As much as he like Atari most of his interest and content stems back to as far as the NES

  4. Just realized that my Mega Drive's power supply is failing... All this time I was thinking that the visual artifacts I was seeing were from my SCART cable, but I realized that was unlikely considering that it's wired for Composite Sync, not Sync-Over-Composite. Plus, the weird visual affects would get worse the longer I had the console plugged in.

Anyhow, I'm keeping my console unplugged for now until I source a replacement. You absolutely don't wanna fuck with finnicky power supplies. It's a pain cause I hate ordering stuff and waiting for it to come, but this is 1000x better than trying to use this weird PSU and hope for the best.

For all I know, this could've been the case the whole time I had the cheapo HDMI converter, but I wasn't able to notice it until I got a more clear RGB signal.

Yep a bad PSU can cause all sorts of weird and wonderful artifacts. They're getting to the age now where failure is becoming more common. Many people tend to overlook PSU's when doing cap replacements to their board.

  5.  Do all video games really deserve to be preserved?  I don't think so.

    1. TwentySixHundred

      TwentySixHundred

I believe all software should be preserved. It started it's life in digital format and should be remembered in that form. Just because it was flashed to physical hardware and sold doesn't mean it should stay that way. Everything has a shelf life and when that expires, much of this software that could be enjoyed for generations to come will be lost forever. I understand some are against emulation and digital preservation (especially hardcore collectors). However in reality it always was digital and nothing other than code. HC collectors still have their physical copies and that's cool. But many like the convenience of emulation while keeping their systems and carts stored on a shelf for aesthetic purposes (like myself).

Wouldn't it just run too fast at that framerate? Huge difference with framerates and speed when it comes to older software compared to newer titles. A lot of PC games were locked @30 or 50/60 otherwise the game would just run too fast. I remember having many older DOS titles that would become unplayable when i tried them on my new 486.

  9. Which classic 1 player game would you like to receive a multiplayer mode? I personally think some split screen Tomb Raider action would be fun/weird.

Try living in Australia where it's not unusual to hit 120+ in summer. The hot weather gets old real quick and i personally welcome rain whenever we get it.

GTA 1&2 would be interesting in split screen. Could team up with a friend causing havoc across the city.

  13. Shadowrun for the SNES is lots of fun. Really enjoying this game even though you need to grind for cash

@7800Knight I have never played the tabletop version so yeah i have zero expectations. I have gone in to except it for what the game is. I think as @Rogerpoco pointed out the game isn't all that far fetched from reality in alot of ways (besides some obvious elements). Although it does have that PC point and click feel mixed with a console touch so im finding very enjoyable.

I have been playing Crystalis for the NES as well and swapping between the two lately. Very different games but i like both just as much as each other for different reasons. I think Shadowrun just has that unique feel and im liking the storyline so far. Looking forward to the Cyber Matrix element aswell, whenever i get to that point in the game.

I too struggle finding free time these days so it's going to be a long game to complete lol. All good though as it's keeping me interested.

  14. Snowing AGAIN!!

If spring does not come soon..I don't know what I will do. So depressing..

Would love to have some snow here, but we never get it lol. Seasons are changing though, as we too in Australia are getting later summer and winters. Im over the heat even though it was a fairly mild summer in my neck of the woods. I just want rain as i like rainy days because i find the sound calming on a tin roof or whatever (winter person here).

  15. 7800 vs Master System; both cool, but 7800 has more balanced CPU-power.

7800 vs NES; both cool, but 7800 has more sprites on-screen without flicker...

    1. TwentySixHundred

      TwentySixHundred

I don't really think it's fair to compare the 7800 to either even if you're looking at the superior aspects of the system. The NES and SMS were perfect for platforms and beat-em-ups as they had hardware scrolling registers. The main point is different generations of hardware and each system had it's pros and cons. Personally i love them all for different reasons.

  16. Went to the Dentist today.  And they've added a small arcade!  Games set to Free Play while you wait.  Just 4 games,  but still!  A very nice surprise...They had SF Rush 2049, some fishing game, another racer called California (something)..And Incredible Hulk Pinball from 1979.  I was late to my appointment so only played a quick game of Pinball on my way out the door, it had no sound,...Other people were just sitting there looking at their phones, which made me feel weird, but still it is cool!  Maybe I'll get a pic next week, I'm going back in...

  17. why does every other new Netflix show description begin with "A group of misfits..." Do we all secretly wish we were misfits?

Women love drama and some men do too. Personally i never find anything interesting on that streaming service. The missus does though

  18. As get older I’m really thankful for save-states!

Me and my bro got through Super Mario 1 - All Stars today! Felt good!

    1. TwentySixHundred

      TwentySixHundred

Yep, i try to not cheat by saving all the time. But games that make you go though four levels over and over i use them at the start of the level. Just don't have the time these days to repeat the same easy levels. Way i look at it is if im completing the level from start to finish it's fair game. Basically like unlimited continues which most modern games allow anyway.

  21. I always get nervous when an ebay seller doesn't leave feedback for the buyer. It's almost like they're not confident in their product and waiting to see what feedback they receive from the buyer... I hope my friggen item is what i wanted and in working order. Too much money to be stuffed around.

    1. TwentySixHundred

      TwentySixHundred

All valid points, in my case it was close to a grand and some reassurance would have been nice. Having said that even if they did the transaction could have gone either way. Anyway i left them feedback, now after the fact it really doesn't bother me if they leave feedback. And i think that's the thing, when throwing your cash towards a seller and having zero response. It kind of leaves the buyer sitting there twiddling their fingers for days/weeks wondering if the seller is even sending the product.

Well i guess that explains everything then, had no idea sellers could opt for auto feedback. As someone who always gives feedback and usually really generously, i just found it strange i hadn't received any myself. I understand as a buyer it's not really important although it does help provide some reassurance.

Anyway package came 4 days early and everything is what i ordered in good condition. Even though the seller probably doesn't care, i will send them positive feedback as it's only 20 seconds of my time.

Nothing all that special, just a general purpose tower PC for the lounge room TV. Usually i just build them myself but after adding up the prices and all, it's hardly worth it these days. The PC itself was $750 with postage and $150 for a copy of windows. I just really like having a tower in the lounge as it's really useful for everyday things. I also load it with emulators to keep the missus happy, as she freaks when i pull out my old consoles. I have my laptop for development and whatever else i want, but sometimes it's nice to throw a game on and kick back on the couch after a long day. Also the old dinosaur of a rig i built for the lounge just tipped it's decade of service, so it's due for retirement.

That's fair enough and i get it, although the only bad experiences iv had are from those who wait for feedback first. All those i receive feedback first are usually confident in their product and things go according to plan. Guess im just a little nervous spending $1000 and waiting for the outcome.
