Am i the only one who doesn't feel the Joust hype? So many reviewers and Atari fans seem to really like the game. Personally i think it's not bad but nothing to write home about either.

Some great replies here, after posting i decided to really sit down and work those physics out. I mean don't get me wrong it's not a bad game at all and i would put it somewhere in the middle for a personal ranking. I understand the appeal of a physics based game and i guess it's all about personal preference. Never knew the game was two player either as never had the game when i was younger and no one i know really likes playing retro games with me. So overall i can see the appeal however like i said personally i would rank it somewhere in the middle for 2600 games.

Having said that and i know it's blasphemy but as a young lad i had both E.T and Yars Revenge. Both games are considered the best and "worst" of all time. It may seem strange but i spent more time playing E.T rather then Yars Revenge. *ducking for cover* Anyway like i said everyone has personal preferences and i enjoyed hearing why many find Joust appealing. Great discussion guys thanks ?

Here we go... Laptop failed to boot and was stuck on a white screen. So i forced reboot that worked but was slow to boot. Then the screen had a shuttering effect like when recording at a different framerate. Luckily it's slowly come good for now. It's still has warranty but im shattered as i like this rig. Not sure if i should be taking it in considering the flicker/shuttering has become better Nothing worse then having the system set up the way i like it and having to re customize everything again. Doubt they will even except it under warranty as it's hardly noticeable now.

Just completed Secret of Evermore on SNES for the first time ever. Have played it many times and made it to the final boss a few times but never completed it til now. What a feeling and what a game, very fun!

Thought id share this channel to those who may not know about it. Chip music i find very motivating when coding. No i don't know the channel owner or anything so it's not a shameless plug. Just thought others may enjoy and support the channel so they keep up the great music.

Here is some good info on it. Seems like it was sold in good enough numbers at least. Maybe not as many as the CD unit from what I'm gathering. Heard 50,000 CD units were sold, the modem was probably even less than that.
Suffice to say, I've had a few occasions where they were available in the community, or ebay, and I could have bought one. Price was not terrible, but mildly inconvenient at the time.

Having alot of fun with NBA Live 95 for the Genesis. The game still holds up fairly solid for it's age compared to some the other sports games of the time. I like that there is actually plays and somewhat a simulation rather then sprint and dunk. Actually feels rewarding to score and defend. Good game! Now back to my season...

The game definitely has it's quirks that take awhile to get used to. It's solid though and and pretty amazing how well they programmed the AI to respond to certain situations. I have the SNES cart aswell, packed away somewhere in the back room. I have been playing on the emulator for convenience anyway so might see how the SNES version stacks up to Genesis. Been a good decade since playing the game so i was surprised how well it played. Usually i play NBA Jam or NHL which really play solid as well. I cant speak for Madden as i have it but im Australian and really don't know American football all that well. However i will say International Soccer has unforgivable flaws. It used to be a favorite of mine in the day but the gameplay is pretty bad. There is no real strategy, its just boot the ball towards goals and try to score

@Joe C. Well an update I fired up the SNES version and as a mini review here is my findings between the two.
Graphics are pretty much on par, most noticeable differences is obviously the text and slightly more detail of the players with SNES.
Sound well i can't pick a winner they both have the same funky beat that sounds great on either system. It's really preference of whether the player likes that gritty Sega Yamaha chip or Nintendo;s Sony chip. I kind of like the gritty Yamaha sound with alot of games however with Live 95 they both sound great.
Gameplay i will have to give to Nintendo believe it or not, despite the advertising ploy back in the day claiming Sega was the master of sporting games... To begin with i was thrown off by separate buttons having individual functions, unlike Sega having the buttons with two or more functions (like modern games).
Other then that, once used to the controls SNES takes the title imo. There is a dedicated steal button and it actually works. Sega's stealing feature is AI controlled meaning the player needs to position on the opponent and wait for the computer to attempt a steal. SNES you can take a swipe and depending the position and circumstance fouls are called if too aggressive or reaching (works well).
SNES version is really easy unless you toggle the rules settings. The most fun i have had is on a harder difficulty setting, then the game plays more realistic otherwise it's just too easy. SNES also has the issue like mentioned by @retrorussell of bad passes and the ball being thrown off court Sega doesn't seam to really have this issue.
Anyway in conclusion id say either consumer would be happy, although if having the choice SNES surprisingly tips the scales imo

Urrghh - Updated my Laptop and ctrl+v shortcut is being a pain in the a$$. Driving me nuts, it seems to work fine then it has these random times it wont work unless pressing it 2 or 3 times. They say it's Win10 that can cause this issue yet my older win7 laptop with Win10 installed had zero issues. Tried what google recommends with uninstalling the driver - of course no change. Just annoying and slow paced when trying to code (off putting)... Same brand "HP Pavilion" just a newer rig...

Now with a 3 month old, my recommended playlist on you tube is full of Sesame Street...

Note to self: Cleaning out overflowing gutters in a thunder storm is probably not the smartest idea... Big flash of light and a loud crack of thunder within a split second. I would say the strike was around 1/4mile away. Absolutely crapped myself and was back down the ladder pronto lol.

Did my lumber back in at work yesterday, what a fun experience it is getting out of bed...? On the plus side i might get some time to throw into some of the WIP projects i have.

Rain, hot coffee and a 2600 game is quite a peaceful atmosphere
