It's not just floppy disks. There's original packaging for a variety of software. I wonder if that would make a difference in the scenario you experienced.
I personally don't comprehend why it being a game would make a difference.
I didn't envision this thread turning into an actual interesting, tangential discussion.

Sometimes it just depends on the USPS employee who looks in the box - it is left up to their interpretation (or if they are having a good/bad day). Sometimes the box never gets opened or inspected.
BTW - FedEx ground would be $31.83 to me. Not too bad.
UPS would be $35.68.

I'm still interested no matter what shipping method is used, but yes FedEx (or UPS) may be cheaper
$55 offered

... and since media mail is based on weight instead of distance the cost would be the same no matter where it was shipped. Yay we all win!

BUMP - always looking for TV shows/cartoons recorded from broadcast TV 70s/80s

Looking for some Redwall cartoon DVD goodness, any season 1, 2 or 3. PM me if you have some to share or sell. My kids love the books and I think they will enjoy the animated series. My wife and I watched them back in 2011 on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed them.
Thanks!

Agreed - Media mail should be just fine. I have shipped many floppy disks over the years and have never had one issue. You are correct that the cartridges would be prohibited. Anyway - thanks for looking at that option.

Normally Al posts a large reminder on the home page and a link. I will create the thread on November 9th (with Al's blessing of course) in this same forum.

Yeah, it's a lot of weight. I really don't remember what's in there and don't know beans about Apples. I certainly wouldn't expect anything exceptionally rare and/or valuable. I'd really hate to set anyone up for a big disappointment. I just couldn't bring myself to throw this stuff away.
I couldn't throw stuff like that away either. I like your solution - it will be great either way for you and whomever wins.

ZOIKS! awesome!

Wow. Shipping for me is $72.
I'll have to wait and see where this goes...
yeah it's a bit for me as well and I don't even live that far away (California) ... but I have a working Apple setup with two disk drives and I am oh so curious ... maybe Might and Magic in there? or Ultima? I am rubbing my hands together as I say "Ultima"
