  1. Just don't buy the crap they put out until it's worth getting...I didn't get a flashback and I won't be getting anything until they get it right...screw Atari or whatever company owns the name this week. The Atari we all knew and loved is long since dead.

Just don't buy this junk...sure we are a small corner of the market...but don't buy in to this crap...don't give them your hard earned money.

  2. i dunno where you are located, but I sure hope you can work something out with Matt or someone to let them look over what you have and check it all out...just for the sake of documenting what you have for the good of the community if nothing else...plus you might want to let one of those guys dump the ROMS for you so that they don't get lost forever, it's possible you have something that is one of a kind and once bit rot gets it, it's lost forever without a dump.

very nice find, i wish you the best with it....hope you will share with the community if you are not interested in making a buck off of it....if not I hope you at least let these guys help you archive it so there is at least a back up.

  3. ah...the main thing to remember is that these games were made at a time of transition...Sega was lucky enough to land in yet another period of change...just like with the DC...and once the Genesis showed up the Master was old news...it's a cool little system...I picked one up last year at the Flea for $10 with the original Power Strike send away exclusive and about 15 other games...they are all "dated" but fun...it was a good system and there were a few gems...personally Power Strike is my fav though. For it's time, it was a great system I think...compare it to an average PS1 game and yeah the graphics suck but so does the 2600, 5200, 7800, NES and all the other systems we have come to love and know...you just have to appreciate it for what it is...

  4. I was under the impression that the majority of the problem was in the flex circuit itself as well as the contacts? Is that true or not? If so I doubt that the the paint would have much effect.

I always thought it would be cool to have an actual self centering stick and real fire buttons...I'm not a big fan of the 5200 stick itself but I'd like to try one out made like that just to see if it makes it tolerable or not.

  5. I'm all for seeing a separate section for homebrews and hacks that were released in cart form as it would be nice for reference, but I wouldn't want to see it in the master database.

Thats exactly what i was wanting....would just like to have stuff documented as to what is out there...just the high end "legit" stuff...not every donkey that made a custom cart in his garage. There were a few nice repros...like some of the trade show releases and a few custom cart & box runs that a couple of people did. :ponder:

  6. If they would put out another GBA SP with a better backlit screen I'd probably buy one...the SP is about a "6" out of 10 form me on the screen...would be nice to see a beefed up version with just a few more features like memory card slot for MP3 player built in and a better screen...they've done a pretty good job with the SP...I'd just like to see them wrap up some of the weak points in a new version...it's a great little handheld and has a lot of life left I think...don't screw it up.

  7. might be good or bad...just stuff i had on my mind...for your review:

    (1) 5200 : how about an 8bit conversion section with roms?

    (2) how about a "misc. documents" section for anything concerning the Atari systems covered here? There is a lot of paperwork floating around and if you bring that together as a whole for people to view, hard to tell what might come of that? Like the scan of letter I got with my silver jacket that I sent you for example...thats probably not going to yeild anything, but there are a lot of docs with notes and such that could be scanned and I bet there would be some cool stuff surface as a result.

    (3) How about a section with listings/scans of some of the homebrews/repros that have been done...like the TCM/Halloween boxed double ender? There have been a lot of cool things over the past couple of years...would be nice just to have them documented someplace.

    (4) Rarity guide for repros and homebrews that were limited edition and out of print "forever" now for whatever reason? The ones that are constantly avail. could be 1's and the rest could go on up from there.

  8. I think it depends if its an OEM version or not maybe, the ones that most people lay their hands on are from corporate machines, not the ones that the average home user buys to upgrade their existing machine, which I know can be legally sold on.

    Oh and :

when you can get XP Home for $30 online...lol.

Any chance of letting me in on this please... :D

That would be incredibly useful for me if theyre legal licenses. :)

    Si

    Here is one for $47.88

the prices change a little here and there...if you look around you can find them...I bought 4 XP home OEM's (non Dell) with COA's for $35 each about 3 months ago.

Don't know if this helps you or not...lol..but here:

  9. If the key is not in use and has been removed from the original machine, there is nothing illegal about it....say you have a HD crash and you switch to Linux, they can't tell you that you can't use your existing key with another box...these copies are NFR distros with a new pc, but legally they can't press the issue beyond that if it's not in use....they could try it , but would not be worth it and never hold up in court from a legal standpoint, however if the key is flagged invalid they won't give you another one so your screwed and you could always go to court and try to fight that but it would be stupid to do so when you can get XP Home for $30 online...lol.

    anyway...blah blah blah...

  10. I recently had something like that happen with "cluster flys"...I got something off ebay and left it in the basement...went back down there two days later and tehre were flies everywhere...big flies...did a google and found out what they were and how to get rid of them...one can of death later and I have not seen a single fly since....kinda weird.

  11. Well...in todays age and time why should we as consumers have to settle for anything less? Why not have an Xbox2 that plays Xbox games? can it be done? yes? so why not?

My point was that I think MS is rushing this system to market just to beat Sony and I think that is a mistake...I don't want Halo 2.5...I'd rather wait a year and get a stronger system that had more planning time put in to it and more options and the latest technology and a good launch library rather than a a new $300+ system with no real platform specific bombshells that won't play the 50 or so gmaes I already have for my existing Xbox....which Doom 3 is coming out in March...why would I want to :

    (a) wait to play and hope for a XB2 version in NOV/Dec

    (b) buy the game again just for the XB2

© run out to buy yet another system to plug in to my entertainment system when I'm still enjoying the one I have.

In the case of the PS1 to PS2 transition, there was an obvious leap in game quality...I don't see that being the case in the new systems...at least to the point of wanting to make the switch...I've seen the EA screenshots and all that stuff...doesn't impress me enough to make me "excited" about getting a new system.

Xbox Live has just now started to really take off...I think MS would be better served to wait another year...launch with Halo 3 and spend more time pushing Xbox Live...with Halo 2 , Mech Assault 2, and Doom3...all recent releases, thats a lot of push for Live...just seems to me like they spent 4 years getting Live off the ground and now they are moving on a year early...let people absorb it and give us a better quality system with good launch games....just seems like a better way to me.
