Price Check Assistance - Falcon/Mega St/STe
bugs replied to Atari Smeghead's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Its not hard to get 1000+ for a working falcon. Clean and boxed more than that. If you believe that to be high or not thats what they have been going for. The mega ste is easily worth 500. The keyboard is discolored so im assuming the mega is as well but cant tell from that pic. The 1040 perhaps 150. Sent from my SM-G920W8 using Tapatalk -
This is easy.. mod them all. There is a thread for a new batch of incognitos. Im not sure what the current status is. Sent from my SM-G920W8 using Tapatalk

Dropcheck I removed one about 2 weeks ago and did a 3 wire simple video mod, on mine there are 4 connections and 4 tabs to remove, there is a lot of solder on the rf tabs, even with a proper desoldering gun one of them took a bit to get all the solder out, then just bend the tabs straight with a pliers and out she comes very easily.

Hi Mozart I had an 800xl hongkong motherboard last week with your exact symptoms, the dim redish feedback screen with rf and black with composite/monitor. I was able to swap some chips from a working machine and found the C014806c-03 was bad. Its the 3rd 40pin ic over at the bottom. try swapping that chip and see if your machine boots.

The prices i have been seeing lately are under 300 for an ste and 3-400 for mega ste's on ebay. On ebay germany you can usually get a mega ste for under 100 euros and they have a 110-220v power supply so you can use them here. Get english tos and some english keycaps for 20 bucks from best and youre golden. Obviously one from the dealer should be clean and tested but 450 is way high. http://www.ebay.de/itm/Atari-MEGA-STE-2-MB-HD-Originaltastatur-Netzkabel-Atari-Maus-RAR-/322078356911?hash=item4afd5db5af:g:s9cAAOSw~oFXFBeP http://www.ebay.de/itm/Atari-MEGA-STE-4-MB-48-MB-HDD-Originaltastatur-Atari-Monitor-SM124-Maus-/301935668894?hash=item464cc4ae9e:g:fr8AAOSw3mpXF-Xt Sent from my SM-G920W8 using Tapatalk

Where I lived, all the c-64 owners got dropped off at school in the short bus.

Bryan is going to have hire an army of Costa Rican solderers to make all the boards needed lol. Sent from my SM-G920W8 using Tapatalk

Panos I like your original idea with slides and base screws. Perhaps its best to get pricing and see if there is enough support here for the molds and various quantities of shells. Sent from my SM-G920W8 using Tapatalk

To Mod, or Not to Mod: I Ain't Modin' Sh(T No More
bugs replied to gilsaluki's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Its mans basic nature to want to improve, advance and push the limits of whatever we do. Without the tinkerers the world would be a very different place today. Is worth it? maybe or maybe not. Nobody is doing any kind of modern everyday computing tasks on a 30yr old Atari 8-bit, this is a hobby!, if you like your Atari for games, if you are giving programming a stab, or if you are modding your machine for whatever reason it is really distasteful to be telling anybody they have too much time, money or lack of a life doing something they obviously enjoy. To the designers, programmers and engineers that have made this hobby an interesting one, thank you.... keep it coming. -

I put s-video in my atari because I dont want it to become obsolete... -
Im using the StarTech composite/s-video to hdmi converter http://www.walmart.com/ip/StarTech-Composite-and-S-Video-to-HDMI-Converter-with-Audio/29503170 I am going to try some cheaper ebay solutions, be nice to find one that can fit inside the Atari. I have a full uav left and I cant decide which machine deserves it the most lol. I will order a few more when they get in the store.
-
Finally got around to installing the uav in an 800xl. This is the basic board so I ordered some breakable header pins strips from china, think 1 dollar free shipping or something. I took the opportunity to remove the rf modulator and I removed the 4050 as well. I really cant believe how fantastic the picture is now, its pretty much perfect. This is on a Vizio 24" led tv. Monitor port to s-video to hdmi. Kudos Bryan.

Please add 800xl to my status, order remains at 1

Thats fine. I think there should be enough of a market within the community here to make it worthwhile. There are a lot of bughunt pcbs looking for a new home lol. Sent from my SM-G920W8 using Tapatalk

If there can be some sort of consensus on this project Im willing to contribute and participate. If this is going to be done properly perhaps people like Bradley Koda at best, and myatari dealers might be interested in taking a batch since they are sold out. Food for thought.
