I was at my favourite videogaming store recently and saw the strangest thing. A fellow of East Indian origin was trading in a really strange console. Since I have no pictures I will try to describe it to you. First, it was a cream colour, with maroon trim. It was very small, probably about the size of a NES toploader. It was a PAL system and I think it had "Family Fun System" written on it. It looked like it could fit NES carts, but when an employee tried to insert one, it did not fit. It looks like the chip would be slightly smaller than that of an NES, however its controllers look remarkably like that of a Nintendo. The weirdest thing is that it required an external transformer to even work, leading me to believe that it only worked on some other type of electric current. (I'm no expert on this field.) I know I have no pictures, but I find this to be highly intruiging, so if anyone has a clue what it might be, I'd be interested. Thanks

Thought you might have been at the Great Glebe Garage Sale. It kind of sucked though. Went to over 100 places, and not a single Atari or CV cart. Although there was some NES stuff. (See Thrifting thread).

Found an NES power set (the one with the Power Pad) with all the packaging in really good shape (even has the twist ties and baggies). For $10. Almost passed it over, decided to buy even though I told myself that I only collect for Atari & CV. Problem was: no power cord, easily fixed by going to microplay. Also, no 3-1 game cart, as advertised on box , now a new search is in order.

I must admit that thrifting isn't that great here in Ottawa either. Usually just find the occasional couple of common carts unpackaged. My best find was a Frostbite. I must say that can we expect it to be any different once Atari carts become a hot commodity, there is no doubt that thrift stores would soon be plundered. I've said this before, we collectors are our own and each others worst enemy. Like many big game, what was once a common commodity will become ever scarcer. -
It's just like all those *rare* asteroid or missile command carts

I just made my first ebay purchase myself, 7 fairly common games purchased using the buy it now feature. Now I am waiting for it in the mail.

Found 12 commons and a carrying case for $10 Bought it mostly for the case, although there were a few commons I didn't have

I just did my first ebay BIN. Fairly common stuff that I did not already have. In the process of communicating with the seller.

I found that the Game Genie was best with Final Fantasy. The worst part about that game was saving up for items and weapons. With the GG you could have "unlimited" money, which really meant you still had to save, just that your money was never decreased. Saved you from wasting hour after hour looking for monsters

I just have the cart....

Why that's a Colecovision controller. More specifically an ADAM computer controller.

So, anybody have a complete Colecovision System?

Thank you so much Inky! I had no idea such a site existed, although I am not surprised. ADAM still has quite a cult following. They even have annual conventions. -

I'd say that you are pretty lucky to have an ADAM cassette game. They are pretty rare, considering that there were relatively few ADAM computers, plus the game tapes would often break after being played often. Back in the day I went through 2 Buck Rogers cassettes (80's), and haven't been able to find another since, although I still have the cases. -

Unfortunately, I have never found any ADAM-related stuff (other than carts) around here. THe computer I have has been in the family since the 80's -

It is cool to hear so many people into the CV stuff. My trusty ADAM still keeps entertained, although carts are hard to find in the wild. I have never had any CV thriftstore finds, although there is a videogame shop that sells a few titles, although I have them all. By the way, is $15Cad. too much for a super action controller? Will it work with my ADAM? -
I tend to go with the customs argument. Basically, if you are sending any electronics across the border and the paperwork is not properly completed, customs can hold onto it for as long as they damn-well please(think homeland security). I have only had good experiences with CP. I've worked in the shipping industry, so I speak with some experience.

Damn you Xukchris, I wanted that very baaaaad!!!!!!!! (See Damnation, I never win at Ebay)

I recently bought a 2600jr at a garage sale for $2. It works fine except for the fact that there is so much audio interference that it completely overrrides any sound fx. Anyhow, the system seems to work fine otherwise. Is there some sort of built-in flaw with this system or is it just the ravages of age? The sound on my Vader is just fine. What gives?

Thanks Inky. I just might try that.

I've been trying this whole ebay thing, bidding on 2600 stuff and all. It seems that every time I bid on something, someone else with really deep pockets outbids me. Sometimes I feel like giving up on that medium, I've had my heart broken so many times. Oh well, what's a working-class Atari collector to do. (rant ends here) P.S. How much do you guys spend on ebay anyway?
