  1. I think a lot of peoples' complaints regarding rarity ratings has to do with regional variations on how hard it is to find old video games in general. What one person finds several times a year in one city, another may never find.

One thing I have noticed is that NES games seem a lot more abundant in the United States. I'd love to go to one of these gamestops where Zeldas sell for $5! :D Anyhow I think that the reason for this is that since there are approximately 10 Americans to every 1 Canadian there would be corresponding numbers of games floating around. I also know there were a lot of titles released in the U.S. that never made it to Canada, but I digress.

Finally, regardless of the number of games out there, competition also affects how much stuff is to be found. In Ottawa, a city of approx. 800k citizens, I know there are at least a dozen hardcore collectors I must compete with. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it only takes this many to such the dozen or so good thrift stores dry.

Back on topic, I think that the guide is quite good.

  2. I once got scammed on Ebay. I payed with Paypal and did a chargeback after filing a fraud report with Ebay and Paypal. He then proceeded to leave me feedback accusing *me* of being a "paypal scam artist".

@walle: I suggest that if you go to meet this person yourself, that you bring "protection". :ponder:

  3. Hi there. Recently I bought 16 boxed Leisurevision games (which is the Canadian name for the Emmerson Arcadia 2001). Unfortunately I have no system on which to play them. This was the first video game system I ever owned and I am looking to acquire the console so that I can play these games once again. If anyone has and Arcadia (or preferably a Leisurevision) drop me a line and perhaps we can work out a deal.

  4. I do believe that The Hudson's Bay Company is the oldest continuously operating company in the world. It started off as a British crown corporation responsible for extracting fur from the great wilderness that was North America in the 17th century.

  5. I'd say the best bet for hunting in the wild is to look at post crash 8 bit systems. There seems to be a better supply of them out there. I treat any pre crash finds as special bonuses but to save myself from disappointment, I've stopped actually expecting to find such stuff.

  6. @Ze_ro: I have about 16 boxed Leisurevision games, but no system to play them on. I used to have the system and a bunch of games when I was a kid, but my parents got rid of it when it stopped working. I might be interested in taking those games off of your hands if you like.

I also have 3 TRS-80 games but no computer to play it on.

I have a roller controller, a PS and a bunch of games for the CV, as well as 4 controllers, including the Super Action. All I need is the system that is on its way in the mail. I can't wait to play it!
