I have actually used your real name once on here but generally I don't use people real names unless its their screen name purely for the point that if they wanted to be called that they would have used it. Although we know each other from working for the same computer firm for a while I actually know you as TMR almost exclusively at that's who I see, same with an old mate of ours from the C64 scene Bod, I know his real and we knew each other for many years but I always called him Bod, that was who I knew. haha, yes, I totally understand what you say, some people just don't have names, they just are the handle it is always strange when you meet up and someone dares to name you by your real name... it is so... hm unusual

It bears some humour to read through all this, for sure you get all those c64 games and especially demos out of the box and don't have to think before coding. And yes, we are all apes, some more some less speaking of the year 1979, I guess that must have been the time around which you started ignoring other systems till now, bravo. I am still shaken about the fact that 6300+ posts you did, you must be the holy grail of atariism. And yes, Atari had no need to change anything at the palette as it worked pretty well long time before on earlier systems, whereas the c64 is literally just a rushed together piece of upgraded vic20 with some extras hammered together over a long weekend and, I have to admit after all those years, it still is fascinating how well this pile of low budget mixture works But just to assure you that even a commodore 64 ape like me gets over lovely guys like you and enjoy the demos and intros on a8, simply to be what most of "us" demo/cracker-sceners are, some open-minded people, sharing the same silly habbit of still living their childhood dream, whatever system they grew up on. you always have your hardliners, like everywhere else that create the highest waves, but still the core that really makes the scene adorable is the same goal we all share, to bend the hardware restricted rules day by day with just our imagination and create something we enjoy. even with illegal collaboration between different systems, but psssst don't tell anyone. generally I believe that the A8 is a fine piece of hardware with some fine software and some really nice people. for sure there is more possible to cheat out of the hardware but it takes effort, sweat, time and not only machinery. and there will be more stuff. what people always don't know or seem to forget is, that the c64 platform hasn't changed throughout all the years, so it is still the unwritten rule that every pile of code should work on a bare naked c64 with just a 1541 on it. that is what kept the scene busy and creative for several decades, "we" don't use ramexpansions, dual-sids or whatever as standard. for sure there is always space for creativity aside this stuff and a lot of fine stuff hatched there. so, now back to topic I would love to see more rules-bending and hardware trickery. I keep my fingers crossed, there are some smart guys out there that will do it for sure. until then I enjoy some old demos and lay back and follow the show

after all those years don't you still have no respect for other systems? I don't know why this kind of topic was started at all, what is the point in ragging on deekay? maybe some day you should grow over it. both systems have their pros and cons and you can love them both, this silly pointless system-flaming is so much outdated like comparing 70ies pmg with sprites. sure, c64 is very lame, still it is what you make out of it, and if you just had a little clue, it would be easy to find some hidden gems in A8,too, still nowadys. but instead you just keep on talking what could be possible and how easy everything is and at the end of the day it is just bla bla.

What's the name of that W.I.P. of Canabalt on A8?
Fratzengeballer replied to José Pereira's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
hm, while I never get it that every release must be compared and declared the besteststst. I am happy that there will be 2 different version on the c64 by 2 different coders. I would love to see a finished A8 version some day, but it seems that somehow it always ends in "it is for sure the better version, but will never be finished as it might not be true, but unfinished it is easier to claim" Grow up, end enjoy every single released game. As long as it is fun playing it, I dont actually care if someone needs to judge which is überversion. -
count me in for one if there is still some life in here. /push
