  1. I won't repeat my post here but I just started a topic in the Lynx forum (Am I Missing Something) about eBay... hope to get some comments as I'll never figure eBay out. Mendon
  2. I've used eBay for a number of years, had a LOT of good transactions and the usual bad few ones. But in all the time I've used eBay I've never been able to figure out how or why people bid like they do. For example, GoAtari recently put up new Lynx and Jag items for auction, all with a starting bid of 99cents. No prob, good deal. But then I see the auctions end and I'm AMAZED at what people pay for items. Warbirds just sold for $75.00 yet you can go to the GoAtari website and purchase the same game for $49.99. Raiden for the Jag went for $43.00 yet you can buy it at the GoAtari website for $29.99. Am I missing something here or do people go crazy at times on eBay?? Anyone have any ideas on why people bid the way they do? Just curious.... Mendon
  3. Yep, I can see it now... April 1, 2004 a proto River Raid III for the 2600 is found and the ROM dumped to AA. Sigh.... Mendon
  4. THANKS very much, T.Skid.... very much appreciated. Mendon
  5. No prob at all, Tyrant.. thanks for the message and thoughts. I perfectly understand why you put them on eBay and I'd probably do the same thing if I was building items like you are. I just have this love-hate relationship with eBay: I love looking around and seeing all the varied and different items that are there and I love seeing prices that people will pay for something. But I hate the con jobs that take place there and the fact that eBay will do nothing to correct a complaint someone files. AND I HATE SNIPERS! They are the scum of the earth and I hope that every one of them has to have unprotected sex with Rosanne Barr for an entire week!!!! Mendon
  6. Please forgive the stupid newbie questions I'm about to ask but I've read a few posts about games like Barkley, BI-WN and now Spacewar 2000 and I'm somewhat confused. Are these games available for purchase? If so, where? Do you need a special setup of any kind to play them (Sorry, I don't understand what a by-pass cart is, or what it means to have a modified Jag)? If anyone could quickly explain about these games (perhaps even a list of the titles), where you get them, how much, and what you need to play them, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any help. Mendon
  7. I've enjoyed every Nintendo system that's been made, even the original system with all the "blowing into the cartridges to get them to play" routines you had to go through and the Virtual Boy (until the headaches started). I've enjoyed Nintendo games throughly. They've given me many hours of fun and enjoyment. We can talk graphic's and I enjoy the comments people are posting. But if we discuss Nintendo at all then I have to get something off my chest: the one thing I will never, ever forgive Nintendo for is that they make the games with the most ANNOYING sound effects of any games ever made. If I hear Baby Mario cry one more time in Yoshi, or hear that stupid fairy in Zelda say "Heeeeeeey...... listen" again, or hear all those stupid char's "talk" in Banjo Kazooie (like Banjo going "guh guh guhguhguh guh guh) I will bounce my Wavebird off the head of the nearest Nintendo fanboy. The sounds may be funny the first time or two ya hear them but by the 6th hour of gameplay, I'm more juiced up than Anna Nicole Smith visiting a senior citizen complex. Mendon
  8. I thought I saw a post somewhere in the forums from him that there was a major server crash of somekind but that his site would be back up ASAP. Don't remember which forum I saw it in or which topic.... then again, I might be dreaming it along with the visions I've had of Duke 2600 and Turbo 2600. Mendon
  9. A2600... depends really. If you don't have the computer module for the INTV then the keyboard is useless to you without it and its $30 wasted. But if you have the computer module and just needed the music keyboard to go with it AND if the keyboard works properly then you didn't do too bad at all. If you have the computer module and the keyboard then you'll want to pick up the cartridge Melody Blaster to go with it. Fun game that makes learning the keyboard fun. I've got a lot of Intellivision games, systems, and accessories (sorry, not looking to sell anything) including the entire Intellivision II setup.... Intellivision II, Computer Module, Music Keyboard, Game Changer... all of them in original boxes in mint condition. Its a very nice set up and one I'm proud of. Mendon
  10. damn Damn DAMN.... I haven't beaten Doom 2600 and now they release Duke 2600.... Just when I thought I could afford something more for dinner than Alpo Helper, now I got to try and find money for yet another new 2600 release...sigh Mendon
  11. I've had the new Zelda since its release day (ordered it via Internet) and I still haven't even broken the shrink on it yet to try it out as I'm having too much fun playing the Jag. Am I weird???? Mendon
  12. I'm looking for Ultra Vortek and Rayman box's as both of these arrived shipped in a envelope (non-padded even) and both had been crushed, flattened, and tore really bad by the "ever-gentle" post office system. I sent a courteous note to the sellers suggesting in the future that they perhaps charge an extra $1.00 or so for shipping and use the free priority mail boxes provided by the post office so as to avoid any damaged goods being received by a buyer as some of us like having a complete and good condition game. Both said they would and offered me a partial refund of my money for the rough condition of the games. I refused since it's not that big a deal to me (but could be to some) but its nice to know that some eBayer's are willing to go above and beyond what most would do to make sure that they have happy buyers. 13. One thing I noticed while browsing eBay ad's is that some say "they do not accept credit card PayPal payments". I was curious about this and what they meant by it so I sent an Email to a person running such an ad. They responded that if you have FUNDS in your PayPal account and pay for an auction, then the seller pays no fee and the transaction thru PayPal is totally free. But if a person uses a credit card to pay for an auction thru PayPal, then the seller pays a fee, which I believe is like 15 or 20cents plus 2.5 percent of the final price (I may be wrong on the amounts here). Not sure if this is common knowledge or not but thought I'd pass it along. Mendon
  14. I'm also looking to aquire (at some point in my life) Primal Rage as I've heard its the best "fighting" style game on the Jag. One thing I have heard, and maybe you can confirm it T-Skid is that the game has "load" the finishing moves, which sort of breaks up the flow of the game and makes it pause. True or False? Mendon
  15. Jaysmith2000... after playing Iron Soldier for awhile and seeing how much fun it was, I watched eBay for IS2. When an IS2 cartridge appeared online, I bid and won it. I now have it in my possession but didn't want to even break the shrinkwrap on it until I beat IS1... sort of a "savor the moment" type of thing and a reward for beating the first game . Only reason I bid on the cart version was because at the time I didn't have the Jag CD and wasn't sure I could afford one at the going prices on eBay. Fortunately, I got a good deal on an excellent working CD unit, so I'll be watching for IS2 on CD so I can see the FMV and have the music. Not a rush on owning the CD version but its one I want to add to my collection. Mendon
  16. Well, today I beat Iron Soldier What a GREAT game!! Only complaint (if you want to call it that) is that its tooooooo short. 16 Missions isn't enough so now its out to buy IS2. If memory serves, wasn't there an Iron Soldier 3 for the Playstation? If so, did anyone play it and was it any good? Mendon
  17. Just curious if anyone read his/her "About Me" page that is listed in the ad? After reading this long article and considering it, I'd much rather pay $3.50 or $4.50 for shipping of a game rather than receive the "free" shipping that is offered by the seller and having to abide by all the rules and constraints that goes with winning one of these auctions. The harder one makes paying for an item, the more I pass by the auction, no matter how bad I want the item. Just my opinion. Mendon
  18. Thanks again to all who have responded; very much appreciated. Eric.. it does mention in the instructions about "finding things" and I took this to include the wandering critters. On page 27 it says "Plus anything you see might be useful. Try experimenting! There are lots of things to find and use. Drop things you find into various buildings and see what happens." Methinks its time to set Baldies aside for awhile before I get frustrated with it. I like the concept of the game and feel it might very well be a fun game to play. But right now, I guess I don't understand enough of the game as I'm finding its a VERY slooooooow game to play; I started the 2nd Lvl and had 2 buildings. I set one to be increased in size (to hold more baldies) while I set the other to be made into a Scientist building (white building). 15 minutes later neither building had changed and I had 6 more baldies born than when I started and two inventions researched. Maybe there is a better way to do things in the game but like I said, I guess I just don't understand enough of it yet to be proficent in playing it. I still don't think I wasted $5 on it but think perhaps its time to return to Iron Soldier and Tempest for awhile. Mendon
  19. I received the Jag version of Theme Park from GoAtari (another quality product quickly shipped) Wednesday. I was really looking forward to this game as I love simulation style games (Sim City, Sim's, Roller Coaster Tycoon, etc). But after playing it for 3hrs, I must say that I am VERY disappointed in the game for one simple reason: your park does not save, only your money. I don't want to have to go back and create a brand new park every time I load up the game. Saving only your money is like playing Iron Soldier and having only your weapons saved while having to start from Mission One each time you want to play the game just to get back to the screen you were last on. I don't know if it was impossible to save your whole park because of save memory constraints on the cartridge or not, but not being able to save your actual park is one of the biggest blunders of all video game programming time. This is just my opinion and others might differ, but for me it was money wasted as this is a game that I won't be playing again. Sixteen Jag games I own now and this is the first one I've got a real gripe with. Mendon
  20. Sigh.... well I get home from working over time and see I lost this auction at the last moment after winning the auction from the day the item was posted. I HATE friggin snipers.... cowardly #$%^@#$'s... come out of hiding and bid like a man! Mendon
  21. Another question maybe someone can help me with... do picking up the gophers, snakes, etc and dropping them in a house actually do anything? I do it all the time and haven't noticed anything happening as a result of it. Just curious. Mendon
  22. Hmmm.... I did a search and read some posts on Dion and his Neo Geo affair. J.Max said in a post of 1-9-03 that Dion had been suspended by eBay for shill bidding to drive up the price of his auctions. If so, what the hell is he doing back on eBay selling items again??? Especially after only having been suspended a few months ago! I swear that eBay is getting worse and worse, and if it wasn't just about the only place I know of to obtain many and varied Atari items, I'd quit using it in a second! I got ripped off by a person on there just before Christmas; I paid for an item but never received it. Filed a complaint with eBay but they did NOTHING to this person. I left negative feedback and 6 other buyers did also right after I did; this person ripped off 7 people in one month and eBay allows them to continue selling. As a sidenote to this story, if you use PayPal you cannot file Mail Fraud charges since the mail wasn't used to make payment. I did end up getting my money back by filing a complaint with my credit card company (PayPal was no help in this matter either.. why should they be since they are owned by eBay). It angers me that people like the one who tried to rip me off and this Dion character are obvious con artists but eBay does nothing to stop their practice. Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now.... 23. THANKS to everyone who responded and also left tips. Very much appreciated. I'm learning more and more as I play how to figure stratagies and such... only real complaint I have is that the game is slooooooow in building power, creating inventions, upgrading houses, etc. But as time goes on I might learn more about the game and maybe even speed it up. Overall, I'm enjoying it and for the $5.00 I paid for it it was a good investment. Thanks again. Mendon
  24. I have heard that there are differences between the pack-in Cybermorph and the boxed Cybermorph... something about one being 1meg and the other being 2meg. If this is so, any real difference in the game other than the meg size? Thanks in advance. Mendon

    Newcomer here!

Welcome to the Forum, Brian! I'm rather new to the Lynx myself; I've had the Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, 800XL, XEGS, ST, and Falcon for quite a few years and enjoyed them alot. After not doing a lot of classic gaming for quite some time except for current systems (PS2, Xbox, GC, Dreamcast), I've gotten back into by buying a Jaguar and Lynx. Wife threatens to throw me out of the house if I don't quit buying so much Jag stuff but right now I'm addicted as hell and enjoying it. I have a Lynx II with Rampart, Crystal Mines II, Ms. Pac-Man, Chip's Challenge, Blockout, Kung Food, Klax, Shanghi, and Qix. I enjoy and recomend all of them, though KF and CM2 are no where near as good as the others. I'd like to add Battlezone, Asteroids/Missile Command, Scrapyard Dog, and Gauntlet to my small collection in the near future. Again, Welcome to the Forum! Mendon
