  1. Blue one is a Walmart exclusive. They also had an exclusive blue Wii system at one time. Guess Walmart likes blue....
  2. Really strange announcement and I will never, ever figure Nintendo out. Just a week ago they announce a new system with new and better features but yet before that system comes out in NA they now announce a plan to release more bundles (NES, Persona, Pokemon, Smash Bros.) of the older system. Yeah, I know its a cash grab on those that collect Nintendo, but at $200 a pop, how does anyone afford to collect 3DS systems?
  3. Maybe its just me, but I think that the game releases over the last year or so have much less intense 3D than the near launch titles did. As an example, I have played both Pokemon X & Y and even with 3D turned up almost full, the 3D effect just isn't that noticeable. But Star Fox and Ocarina of Time both made very, very good use of 3D. Any thoughts? Also, think about the Xbox360 and PS3 selling 4gb and 12gb systems..... for myself, I can't see buying a console with that limited amount of storage, especially since I have a Gold membership with free game DL's. But there might be people who aren't interested in that feature and want to save a few bucks, so these lower cost consoles make sense So perhaps there are also people who aren't interested in the 3D, so for them the 2DS makes sense at a lower price point.
  4. I'm going to be keeping my eye on reviews for The Keep. I love old style dungeon crawlers and from this trailer, the game has a lot of potential to be a blast to play. But like I said, I'll want to read reviews and see some gameplay before buying as I got suckered once on Stonekeep for the Wii, which was an abysmal game. http://youtu.be/46USriaj53Y
  5. Yeah, I saw that yesterday. Most disappointing as there are several Japanese titles I'd like to import. (closes wallet.... moving along, nothing to see here)
  6. Rumor... repeat, rumor.... making the rounds is that the New 3DS is not region locked. If its true that the system isn't region locked, that might make me open my wallet for a new system.
  7. My one son is a BF fanatic and I was watching him play (via Twitch) the other day and laughed multiple times as he would lay mines around an area and players in car's would come barreling towards his position and then go flying as they would hit the mines. Time after time after time....LOL
  8. While I haven't put anything on it yet to see about speeds, the Seagate I bought for the XB1 was recognized right away and formatted easily and quickly. Only quirk I noticed was when I made the external drive my default drive, none of the games I had on the internal drive showed up on screen in the "My Games and App's" section. When I went back to making the internal drive the default, they showed back up. Maybe I was supposed to click on something on that Game & App screen to quickly switch between internal & external content views (I'll have to go back and check), but I thought it was sort of weird the way it came up.
  9. Diablo can really throw a bunch of monsters at you at one time!! My son & I were playing on Expert mode and hit a cursed chest.... man, I thought they would never stop spawning from all directions and in all shapes, sizes, and classes. The Monk being able to heal comes in handy sometimes, also.
  10. I guess the strangest thing for me about this 3DS is the name Nintendo gave it: The New Nintendo 3DS. If there was confusion with Wii - Wii U, I can't imagine what is going to happen with 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, New 3DS, New 3DS XL.
  11. I really told my wife off last night. She started yelling at me and I told her FIRMLY "You let me out from underneath this bed and I'll show you a thing or two!!"
  12. If you have been hoping for a disk based version of the NES Remix titles, you are rewarded! http://youtu.be/VvwVde4DdKA
  13. Just read an article that Nintendo is releasing updated 3DS & 3DS XL hardware. Adds a 2nd analog (though it looks very tiny in the pictures), 2nd set of shoulder buttons, faster processor, NFC built in for the Amiibo toys, and more. Updated hardware is to be expected. But what I find curious is that they are releasing Xenoblade Chronicles and it will only be playable on this new hardware. Very strange...... Has this sort of exclusivity ever happened with any other handheld or console? I can't imagine a new XB1 Slim or PS4 Slim that had exclusive games available only for them that wouldn't play on the original XB1 or PS4. http://www.theverge.com/2014/8/29/6082243/nintendo-new-3ds-and-3ds-xl-announcement
  14. Sorry, I'm on Chapter 14 and so far no Sully, Ellen, or Chloe. It seems to be a totally independent game of the others and I believe I've heard only one or two references to Sully. But the game has the same quality writing, dialog, jokes, and voices, though. And most importantly, the fun. There are a LOT of things to find, discover, and solve within the game, much more than in any of the 3 PS3 games (IMO). As an example (without giving away too much), there is a part in the game where you have to escape by sliding downhill within a waterflow. There are a LOT of objects to collect on your way down and I missed about 80% of them as I was surprised to see them and too busy trying to guide myself around logs & rocks (which can kill you if you hit too many). My only complaint is that some of the stuff becomes old after a few times doing it, such as taking pictures or doing charcoal rubbings. They really went out of their way to incorporate all the features of the Vita within the game and you have many control options open to you.
  15. Almost forgot that I'm also playing Uncharted: Golden Abyss on the Vita.
  16. I love the entire Uncharted PS3 series, but for whatever reason I never got around to playing the Vita version. I had my Vita with me last week and had to kill time waiting for my wife's plane to land and decided to play Uncharted. The game is incredible and I can't believe I hadn't played it since buying my Vita. Some of the motion that is required has gotten a little old as I play.... such as doing charcoal rubbings.... but the storyline is great, the controls are responsive, the graphics well done, and music is fantastic. Walking Dead is excellent on the Vita. Plants vs Zombies and Pixel Junk Monsters are also incredible versions. Sonic Racing Transformed is excellent also. Between these games and the offerings from Atlus and Xseed, I'm very happy with my Vita.
  17. Thanks for the comments; much appreciated! While I would prefer a turn based game, if The Bureau follows the storyline of Xcom and sets up events, I might take a chance and buy the game. The version I saw was a steel book version priced at $20 and I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend that much money on a 3rd person shooter "Xcom".
  18. If you are already using an external drive on your XB1, maybe you can answer a question: Once the HD is installed and recognized by the XB1, does everything you download or install go automatically to it or are you given the option of whether to install/DL to the internal or external drive? Reason I ask is because once I added a HD to my Wii U, everything automatically goes to it. I can move something from the external to internal memory (or vice versa) but everything downloaded automatically goes to the Wii U external hard drive. Just curious as to how the XB1 external drive will be used/addressed by the XB1. Oh, and I am enjoying Wolfenstein; much better than I actually expected. I haven't looked at the install size but 50gb??? WOW! I guess now I know why it took so long to install on the XB1; seemed like 15min or so to get to the "Ready to Start" message and after about 45min of playtime, it still hadn't fully installed.
  19. Playing Diablo III on the PS4 with my son's and Wolfenstein on the XB1. Have to get around to playing Crysis 3 which I just downloaded for free for being a PS+ member. Too many games, not enough time.
  20. Wow, 74 views and no replies. Guess I made a good choice in passing the game by if no one else played it...LOL
  21. Thanks for the info, Cimerians!! I've got a few games installed to the XB1 drive, mostly all the Gold freebies and three disk based (Battlefield 4, Dead Rising 3, and Forza). When I installed Wolfenstein a little while ago, the system said I'm down to 48% free space. I went thru the constant install/delete challenge with the Wii and not looking forward to doing it on the XB1 or PS4. So I ordered the drive and we'll see how it works.
  22. I loved the hell out of Xcom: Enemy Unknown and would love to have a sequel or DLC added for the game. I recently came across The Bureau, which is an Xcom prequel. I thought about buying it but after reading the back of the case, it appears this game isn't turn based at all but a 3rd person shooter. While I like some 3rd person shooters, like Gears of War, I'm not sure I want to play an Xcom game this way. Just wondering if anyone else has played The Bureau and if so, what are your thoughts on the game.
  23. Thanks for the response, Bill! Much appreciated!!
  24. I'm a little confused and maybe someone can clear up my confusion.... I've had a Gold membership for many, many years. When the Games for Gold hit the Xbox360, I had read that the games I downloaded were mine to keep, even if I didn't renew my membership. This seemed to be true as my membership lapsed for a couple weeks but I was able to continue playing my free downloaded games. But in downloading Crimson Dragon the other day, I noticed that the words "as long as you are a Gold Membership holder" were included in the description. Are the games for XB1 mine to keep or did they change the rules for the XB1 and make it the same as a PS Plus membership? What about XB360, are they still mine to keep?
  25. It's the same bundle available for pre-order from GameStop and Toy's R Us and all are charging the same price. Whether it will remain in stock at any of them is up for debate as several bundles (such as the Wind Waker Wii U and Mario Kart 8 Wii U) have disappeared from shelves shortly after release. If I were a betting man looking for some quick cash, I'd buy several of these bundles, wait a month, then list them on eBay for several hundred dollars each. Hori is also (supposedly) making several different Smash Bros. controllers for the game.
