  1. Guess it depends on who blew their nose with it. Like if it was Taylor Swift...... 3k easy.

Apologies for the very late reminder... Just a reminder for the Atari BBS community zoom chat for tonight, Friday, April 19th 2024 at 8pm Eastern. For more information and the proposed agenda, go to http://www.ataribbs.com/zoomchat This is also the link to the zoom meeting itself (it will automatically forward from 15 minutes before until four hours after the meeting starts). As you well know, the agenda is always subject to change and the whims of whoever actually attends, but what is planned is... Followup discussions on AtariAge BBS Guru Club threads. I may have just found a decent VT52 editor sitting around on my own hard drive! More fun with SEXPOTS? Hell's BBS Demo (for the ST) And whatever else we find ourselves discussing! I apologize for the late notice but still I hope to see you there!

  4. No worries... Just wanted to make you aware of an issue that could potentially be impacting.
  5. Actually, that might not be the case...... From Uwe Seimet: https://www.hddriver.net/en/features.html Under the section "not officially supported hardware". BlueSCSI 1.1-20220917, but not 1.1-20221203. Tested with the desktop version at the internal SCSI port of a MegaSTE and TT. With a ribbon cable at the external port there were issues, though. So given this, I would probably try to test it on a real SCSI drive if you have one. Just to make sure that it isn't a similar issue given the use of the external port.
  6. Ok, so sorry for not posting this sooner. Still having some trouble with some paths that certain parts of the program tell me don't exist, so I'm going to create a new CF card dedicated to the BBS and try again instead of nested in the "main" card I use. I do have it answering the modem with the original WiModem232 (not the pro) and that seems to be working well. Once I have the dedicated CF card version going, I'll go ahead and put the demo up. I'll probably post other updates in the BBS club so be sure to check there later (though I'll reply here when I do). For now though.... Obviously still using the author's screens.
  7. Tori does post here... he might be able to help (shrug)
  8. The Atari BBS list at http://www.sfhqbbs.org/ataribbslist.php now has fTelnet links for all BBSs, using Atascii (or ANSI) for 8 bit BBSs and ANSI for ST BBSs! Just hit the blue fTelnet button under Links with their listing. Let me know if you encounter any issues (except for a busy message, I can't help it if Atari BBSs are popular!

  10. Been waiting to flip the switch on this for ages! 11. That's good news... I've been trying to get in touch with him on and off over the years to no avail.
  12. I'm assuming you know about the vga adapters and that one Dell monitor everyone is raving about?
  13. Well, given the ST doesn't have a GTIA, that would be a no.... But I'm just kidding, I knew you knew that and what you really meant. https://blog.jokielowie.com/en/2022/06/atari-st-ste-modyfikacja-sprzetowa-perfekcyjne-wyjscie-obrazu-hdmi-dzieki-projektowi-rgb2hdmi-i-raspberry-pi-zero/ https://retrohackshack.com/2023/02/17/hdmi-for-the-amiga-and-atari-st/ For reference, c0pperdragon store link... https://www.tindie.com/stores/c0pperdragon/
  14. Yeah, it seems like this is being taken more seriously across the board. I recently (like last week) bought a Megafile 44 of Ebay and when it came, the driver literally made me actually show valid ID (which was extra funny because I had just renewed my license since it was my birthday at the end of March and the new license literally arrived the day before in the mail because Ohio mails out the new IDs when you renew and gives you a printout to show to the po po if you get pulled over before it arrives). I've NEVER had to show a package delivery driver my actual ID. Usually just being there behind the door that says APT 2 at my apt building was more than enough. In fact, the driver had already filled out the "dude wasn't home" slip (in the 5 seconds it took me to walk to the door after he knocked) since I was already waiting for him after the website told me I had to show "adult ID"? The only other time I ever had to show "adult ID" was ordering door dash that contained beer. So, as a suggestion, it might be worth considering in the future to have these delivery options since obviously they do exist... But that said, it was a pain and if I had not been a "work from home" type employee, that would have been a mess and I would have had to pick it up myself.
  15. So quick first look at the documentation..... I'm not sure a Falcon is "required"... at least not anymore as even the README!! file went from This is an experimental BBS software for ATARI Falcon computers! in pre84 to This is an experimental BBS software for ATARI computers! in pre99.2. In the older version originally posted, pre84, it would seem there is only one ANSIDRIV.PRG and it's probably for the Falcon and requires the Falcon's graphic modes. The second, the pre99.2, has ANSI drivers for all of the systems (which are system specific, so it lends credibility to the guess it was all about the ANSI driver in pre84 (which also, the ANSIDRIV.TXT opens with ANSI-Driver V1.0 FALCON VGA by Teddy of TMC/Orion). (Link to that thread so others don't have to search) Also a little irritated I can't find GSZRZ yet, but I'm sure I will, though I think with not a lot of effort I can get it working with XYZ.TTP based on the config. So this was my "can't sleep" moment... I'm going to head back into bed and tackle this on the Falcon after work (planning to cut out early anyway) and then try it on one of my Mega ST's. If it works fine there too, I'll leave the demo up for awhile for people to call.
  16. I'll take a stab at it. And I can do more than just take screenshots, I have the Falcon hooked up to the video capture for the Atari BBS Community Zoom meetings. Now I just have to find it.
  17. And I do apologize... but somewhere in that reply above I was intending to give you a sincere thank you for those efforts. So... Thank you for all that you have done to help unearth some of the lost treasures of the BBS era!
  18. Ah, ok.... You know I almost double checked but then I saw the post count and figured I was crazy. At any rate, it isn't bad information for those stumbling across this thread. That said, you should join us sometime. Last Zoom meet we did a demo about using a line simulator and a PC with SEXPOTS to be able to call telnet BBS's with your old school modem without a phone line or VOIP solution. Coming up, the reverse of that - how to host a BBS the same way. You might find that one especially interesting. Let me know and I'll put you (and anyone else reading this who wants to be) on the reminder list.
  19. There was a lot of that going on, and still going on. There is a fairly active BBS community from the Atari BBS Guru's club here at AtariAge and various BBS that are actually being run today. http://www.sfhqbbs.org/ataribbslist.php Feel free to drop by and give some of them a call. We have a twice monthly Zoom chat, http://www.ataribbs.com/zoomchat on the 1st Sunday (at 3pm eastern) and 3rd Friday (at 8pm Eastern) of every month (the next one is Friday, April 19th at 8pm Eastern US time and tends to run on about 4-5+ hours as people come and go as they please). We talk about various topics (not always Atari or BBS related if the mood strikes) and even do demos. We even have working sessions to help people out that are scheduled whenever there is a need. There are also various sites run by the individual BBS SysOps, including Southern Amis http://www.southernamis.com which also has some good resources (and the websites for some other BBSs are on the BBS list). A discussion is happening in the Atari BBS Guru's club ( HERE ) currently about a new ST SysOp and his modifications to Michtron 3 which also has participation by the author who also is participating in the Michtron thread ( HERE ) on the ST side of AtariAge. Of course, there is always the sticky thread in this forum as well regarding BBS topics. We've also had the Michtron author on a couple of our Zoom chats as well as the author of AtariLink (an 8 bit BBS that also has had some recent development). There are various archives from back in the day as well, that can be found with some Google-Fu which contain mods for the various BBS programs. All in all, a small but fairly active community if you're interested.
  20. I hear you... even back in the day as a youngin' I was more interested in writing games than playing them. Now it's all about BBSing when the job doesn't intrude (which is all the time lately). GFA All The Way...... (No, I don't write in GFA for the job, I don't like to mix "Church and State" as an old boss once said).
  21. Kidding aside... I really do want to pick up one of those Roland's in the near future and start getting into MIDI... Especially with that MIDI DJ I picked up last year. I actually do keep my Falcon on my work desk and spend a lot of time in huge meetings that last hours only to participate when they specifically ask me a relevant question... but since I'm still employed I'll remain silent as to whether or not I switch one of my three monitors over during these meetings. Though it does especially come in handy on the monthly 4am deploy nights on the weekend during the (God willing) "Four Hours of Silence". 🤣
  22. Pfft. Only three? I've lost almost that many "in the line of duty". May their sacrifice never be forgotten.
  23. Well, I know it's a little late, but that's what Rybags was talking about, I think. I know for the Atari BBS Community Zoom chats I use a video capture with the Sophia on the 1200xl and Falcon that I use for demos and it works great. Also just picked up a composite video one for using the machines that don't have Sophias.
