  1. I don't suppose you'd be able to share details on the modified 1030? I'd love to do that with my old one! (It wasn't working anyway).
  2. Thanks man... I really appreciate it.
  3. So a little bad news..... Just like in 2015, we had a bad storm today. Just like in 2015, that storm seems to have taken out my UVerse. Just like in 2015, that storm seems to have taken out the computer running SFHQ BBS (at the time, it was my non-flaky Falcon, this time, my cherished MSTE that ran the BBS back in the day). This time I also seem to have lost my TV as well, but frankly, I'd rather have lost my MSTE. Funny though, the 800xl running TVAG was locked up, but it rebooted fine. I'm not sure what the future holds for these BBS's I don't think I can bear (or afford) to lose another one of my machines. Obviously TVAG will be down until my internet connection is restored, assuming the UDS-10 survived. At that point I'll make a decision. SFHQ.... who knows.
  4. Yeah, I know what he means by the 8's (8-inch floppy drives) but not the "quads". Of course that's probably 9:30 Sunday morning cloudyhead and I'll feel stupid when he actually tells is what it is.
  5. Of course, there is always the Indus GT option if you don't plan to modify it. It's a shame no one ever came out with a happy mod (or something similar) for it.
  6. If he did, it missed my radar... Let me know and I'll put it back on the list.
  7. Thought that's been down for years.
  8. Were you posting it in a computer group or just a "regular" discussion group? Like, were these people who should have known better? Or "muggles"? (Please forgive the Harry Potter reference....)
  9. Yeah, why not both... then you can have the C64 hooked up to the 1702 and the Atari hooked up to the JVC at the same time, and then have a retro party at your place. I'll bring the beer and Dr. V can bring the chips and salsa.
  10. What term programs support CGS?
  11. Yeah, that's a pretty good point. It really doesn't matter what options are "out there"... It's a question of what terminal programs support them and whether anyone uses them (or if they still exist). Generally speaking, I'm not going to switch terminal programs to just call one BBS unless it's epic. Which also calls into the question of editors. If there is a term that does CGS, but no easy editor... well, SysOps won't make screens, so who cares? That is the question that should dictate what to support.
  12. Maybe the old Instant Graphics (IG?)
  13. A) - TRAITOR!!! B) - I would think that encouraging people to leave feedback before logging off would encourage people to drop carrier... at least in the Atari "community". Half the time they can't even be bothered to say "hi" when creating a new account when the email editor pops up.
  14. Given half the ram chips are unpopulated and the presence of an rf modulator... 520 STFM
  15. Looks like ..... Thats why I removed them from the Atari BBS list. If they return I can restore them quickly. I was just on ST guild this week. Its just slow. It happens.
  16. I will suggest this..... Before you go spending money, maybe you should just download SyncTerm for the PC and try calling a few BBSs first. SyncTerm does a great job with both ATASCII and ANSI (for the ST boards if you like them). Mainly I'm suggesting this because I get a lot of one time callers... people who call, check it out, get their nostalgia fix.... and then never call again. I don't know why. But instead of spending the money and going to all the trouble, you can at least "try before you buy". 17. It fits? (Or do you mean you just soldered the cable ends?
  18. Most of this is covered by the BBS thread at the top of the forum.
  19. Unfortunately, as good as the NetUSBEE may be, it won't do you much good trying to run a BBS where the software is looking to talk to a modem. I don't recall ever seeing anything like a virtual com port for the ST line. I only know of one BBS package that might have run off regular internet (and I'm not even 100% sure it did) and that was Octopus. From what little I recall, I don't even think it was finished.
  20. Now it makes sense.... We were talking about two different things. When I refer to a WiFi Modem, I'm referring to one of these..... http://biosrhythm.com/?page_id=1453
  21. Honestly, no... I've never heard of a virtual com port idea for the ST... In fact, I'd actually be pretty interested in something like that and have been looking myself. That said.... Lantronix boxes, WiFiModems, TCPSer..... There are a lot of solutions that aren't expensive and probably easier to implement, which is why I haven't worried about it so much... but if you ever do find something about a virtual com port, I'd be happy to hear about it.
  22. Yeah, i just never got into PC BBS's..... Even back in the day.
  23. Just out of curiosity, who is your target for running this?
