Traumatic Amnesia?

Given that the ICD MIO has the SCSI interface, and that Atari ST hard drives are connected via SCSI, has anyone here ever successfully paired either an Atari Mega 60 or a SupraDrive with their MIO or Black Box?
Thank you, in advance!
--Tim
I actually got an SH204 (shoebox) working right now with my 800xl and ICD MIO. Basically, the ACSI goes into a small card/host adapter which then connects to a MFM controller with a 50 pin scsi ribbon cable (which then connects to the drives). If you plug the 50 pin cable from the mio to the mfm controller it works just fine.
I'm sure the Supradrive works in a similar manner, but you'll know as soon as you open it up. The megafile might be more challenging though because (at least mine) seems to have it all on one controller board.
I just wish I could get an updated rom so I could use drives with 512b/s

Im up for one.

I wish..... I could barely remember what I ate for dinner last night let aline if the 800xl I gleefully opened 30 years ago had shrinkwrap or not.

When you connect, hit your {return} key (several times)!!
Yeah, I actually just figured that out now.
Unfortunately, I see great frustration in the future as there is no way to let the users know they have to do that.

But it works for me at least, so I'll help spread the word. Heck, maybe I'll even post it on my BBS since people have actually been calling lately.
(I almost just hit /s to save..... I'm in the zone!)

OK...
I have switched the Factory to port 8888.
I have also switched the emulator to Altirra.
I need some callers to let me know that everything is OK... Thanks!
Right now I'm getting a blank screen and after about 10 seconds, a dropped connection.
(I tried it twice, then called a couple others and then tried again).

The big thing I ask is where you're located. If you live near someone else here willing to help that makes it easier.
For do it yourself advice, http://www.atarimax.com/sio2pc/documentation/ People here will now hit you with a deluge of other options and have all the reasons in the world why their suggestion is the best, but that is the easiest I found, especially if you like to use real disks.... The software is worth the price.

So which one was yours? Mine is in Fidonet too (1:2215/1701)... the last Atari still on Fidonet.

Yep, I always regretted the name change as well as the other
changes. I use kubuntu these days...
I've been using Kubuntu as well (well, I have a Windows as my main machine but that's mostly because I dev in C#/Asp.Net.Mvc for work).
I'm thinking of switching my 'nix to Mint though. Something about that just seems right.....
Mint on the nix, Mint on the TT, Mint on the Falcons..... -

Came here to say exactly this, was telling a friend Friday I wanted to use one of mine to set up a bbs.
The more the merrier.

Might be interested in a 1040STE... And the Hard Drive.... Possibly more depending on what it is specifically and the condition.
-
Yeah, my Fidonet NC is on Magic Jack Plus as well.
Feel free to drop me a line if you have questions or issues. I run an ST BBS (also still on FidoNet) and have been playing with a lot of A8 BBS software recently.
Gotta help keep the scene alive!

It's been up, just at the other address.... Which I realized I never really publicised....

Just wanted to drop a note that STar Fleet HQ BBS is back at it's old telnet address of bbs.sfhqbbs.org (port 5983).
I've got some plans to do a major overhaul of some things now that I have a lot more free time (I've finally completed some things I've been working on for a year that has taken up most of my non-working time).
I'm also looking to see if there is interest in a Space Empire Elite tournament (with actual prizes) sometime early next year so if you have any thoughts on that, please let me know.
Thanks!
(the bbs.oldergamers.online address I've been using for it probably won't be available much longer since that was for another project).

Yes, that's the thing, you have to be really careful because it's not nice to get a cease and desist letter.
Well, at least you can print one for you and dad enjoy it!
Anyway, it's really beautiful and again congratulations!
After you print 100 posters, cease and desist.

Wouldn't port 800 be more appropriate?
For an ST BBS? No....
-
Yeah. Maybe 1040 would have been better, as it is beyond 1024. The 1st 1024 ports are scanned the most.
Well, I called in today and checked his caller log, so unless it was an actual failed log in attempt, it's not 100%... but there were only about 6 and that's way better than one literally every 2-3 minutes. Good job DL!

I think it was a joke about your choice of port..... 520...ST?

This should work right?
Good news, the ebay seller refunded my monday....well it's good news if my 800xl isnt toast. I have hopes since the last time I turned it on it was not a black screen.
Why would you want your Monday refunded?
Glad you got it working again!

I've had 2 power supplies go bad in my time. The first just resulted in a color screen, solid with no sound. This was quite some time ago as it was my childhood 256k Rambo 800xl with an ingot. The drams were fried. I finally fixed it two years ago.
Same computer, two months ago, non ingot. Got the same thing you're describing. Was heartbroken as I thought it was the computer so tried another and got the same. Switched out the power supply and both computers were fine.
So I'd just say try another power supply before even thinking about worrying about anything else.

It was just a suggestion... and we've all been there.... no worries.
(I changed mine over a year ago so........)

Okay, in a few days I'm going to change the DarkForce BBS to port 520.
So if you try to logon with the standard telnet port 23 and can't get in,
try 520 instead.
Thanks everyone!
Great... now it won't take me 5-8 attempts to log in!

Maybe to make it easier for everyone, the SysOps could just agree to say, change on the 11th (right before the weekend?) Or maybe a few days later if that's not enough...... Get a big blitz out so everyone can change their lists at the same time?
-
I am thinking of changing my BBS Port number due to the large number of internet bots that are hitting the BBS constantly. I will probably do this in the next day or two.
If any SysOps are still on the fence about this, you should consider it. I did it a long time ago and it made all the difference.
That said, this is a huge thing sweeping the entire BBS community. If you follow it anywhere else (Facebook groups, forums, FidoNet) BBS's are making a mass migration off port 23.
If you're considering it, this is probably a good time because most BBS list maintainers are expecting and processing these changes, and so is the community. Doing it now while it is on everyone's mind and expected will make it easier. You'll just be "one more change" while everyone is already making changes.
Safe BBSing!

The Indus GT has to be just about the most elegant thing ever conceived. It was freakin' amazing.
I just wish it had been double sided...
I find myself using my XF551's on my main while my Indus's don't get much use.

I want to try setting up an Atari BBS....

So the real question... what are you using for the Telnet on the A8 end?
