  1. Oh ... that changes things a bit. Maybe time to go back to my original idea and start working through again.
  2. Ever since they started to force you to select the item specifices from their list, it's the first option that comes up when you type in Intellivision for the product type. People are either too lazy or (more likely) they don't know the differences.
  3. I would definitely be interested. I was starting to do something similar in Excel (I'm an accountant, what else would I use?). I'll PM you later as I'm currently at work and I really should get back to it before the CFO comes in and asks why I'm playing around on an Atari website ... then I'd have to politely inform him that it's for the Intellivision and then I'd have to explain what an Intellivision is ... blah blah blah.
  4. That's great... I had a typewriter myself as a kid and I remember writing several as well. I don't think that any survived to today, unfortunately. My novel (Game of the Gods) that I wrote in high school still exists though! It was never published, but a 250 page novel in high school was a great accomplishment (or just a sign that I was a complete geek). Haven't read the Bloodsword series (a quick google of it looks like it's up my alley) but I was a huge fan of the Fighting Fantasy series (Deathtrap Dungeon is a classic). Read many of the Lone Wolf and other misc ones as well. Your Ultima game sounds like one I'd buy ... put me on the pre-order list! My favorite was always the Bard's Tale series which is what I was going to initially go for in my initial design ideas. I thought that I would change the picture on the right every page with a new picture but figured that I'd quickly run out of room in the GRAM with all the custom pictures.
  5. Yep, I'm willing to trade as so far I haven't contracted the "variation influenza" and I'm just trying to inch closer to 125! The hockey isn't in the greatest condition and I'll have to double check as I think that (along with missing the manual) that the cart wasn't a white label version. I can send anyone interested a picture of it tonight after work. Also have a couple of Intellivision Inc loose manuals (including Shark Shark) if you would want them as well. Here's my missing list for potential trades and I'm really only looking for CIB: Body Slam Super Pro Wrestling Commando Congo Bongo Defender Dig Dug Diner Donkey Kong Jr. Fathom Hover Force Kool-Aid Man Lady Bug Learning Fun I Learning Fun II Melody Blaster Mind Strike Mountain Madness: Super Pro Skiing Mr. Basic Meets Bits 'N Bytes Pole Position Scooby Doo's Maze Chase Sewer Sam Slap Shot Super Pro Hockey Spiker! Super Pro Volleyball Stadium Mud Buggies Super Cobra Super Pro Decathlon The Jetsons' Ways With Words Thin Ice Triple Challenge Tropical Trouble Turbo Tutankham Venture World Series Major League Baseball Worm Whomper Rocky and Bullwinkle (the only recent homebrew that I somehow missed!) Anyone interested, shoot me a pm and we'll see if we can help each other out!
  6. Good eye! And I just found a set of instructions for AD&D T of T in my piles that is Mattel as well. Duh ... should have noticed that it was nice, colored and glossy and should have realized that it was couldn't be Intellivision Inc!
  7. Hmm ... are these the non-gatefold boxes that have Intellivision Inc on the back (and have crappy manuals!) that we're talking about? If so, these are the ones that I have: Skiing (CIB) Hockey (No Manual) AD&D Tarmin (aren't they all Intellivision Inc?) Armor Battle (CIB) Star Strike (CIB) Armor Battle (Sealed) AD&D Tarmin (Sealed) Auto Racing (Sealed with crushed in box) Mission X (Sealed with crushed in box) Night Stalker (CIB) And is this the Snafu that you're talking about?
  8. That's kinda what I'm starting and I'm trying to understand the roadblocks that I'll encounter. For instance, my original grandiose idea has already come down to Earth as I realize my limitations on the amount of GRAM that I have available. My game idea: I'm a lover of D&D and the old Choose Your Own Adventure books and I'm trying to wrap that all together into a game. Now, this isn't an action game by any stretch as I plan a companion book/pdf (I have published short stories in the past), and I want to make the Intellivision into the "turn based action" like an old role playing game from the golden days of role playing. Take for instance the main screen that I'm playing with: I plan to have the hero (lower left) and whatever is relevant to the right (monster, etc). During combat, the options will be up top and will trigger an MOB (fireball or whatever) coming from the hero to the monster. The monster will then attack until someone is dead. Various passages from the book will lead down various paths and will trigger changes in health, armor, sword and magic in the lower right. Choose wisely, live to fight another day, die and you'll have to start all over again. Is it feasible to do? That's what I'm playing with and trying to determine. So, I will have many "pages" within the Intellivision that will produce different text and options on the screen. "You may either go: (1) North or (2) South" and based on that you will need to read the passage from the book to find out what happens. Get a magic sword? I can change the sword color of the hero. Will people like something like this? I have no idea ... but if I'm going to try to do this, then I want something that I love to come out of it!
  9. Oh my ... a new character ... you have opened the floodgates. I'm moving to higher ground ...
  10. Is the music cd good? I thought about getting but would you guys recommend it and the other stuff as well?
  11. Guys, as usual, great stuff. I'll digest this and keep digging and plodding along. It's neat when pieces of this finally "click" but I have a LONG way to go before I can make anything useful ... but one step at a time. That is a cool trick and one that I could probably use in my current experiment ...
  12. If you insist on advertising here, at least get your links right. Both go to the same place ...
  13. I don't know which I'm more jealous of ... That you have a Playcable w/ all the toys along with it ... Or that you own a retro gaming store (that would be the best job ever, but here I am doing accounting!). Can I ask how much you picked up the Playcable for (and feel free to respond that it's none my business!)?
  14. OK ... this is starting to sink in but I'm having issues with translating this to code. Take the following example: MVI disp_ptr(1,0), R0 XORI #$2000, R0 MVO R0, disp_ptr(1,19) I translate this as: 1 - Copy in the value of what's in column 1,0 (which is $0214) into Register 0 2 - Perform a bit adjustment of 0010000000000000 (this adds 1 to the 13th bit which is the color stack advance bit) and place that changed value in Register 0 3 - Copy Register 0 value to column 1,19 (which is $0227) Is there an easier way to simply change the advance bit other than copying from an existing location and is there a way to double (or even triple) advance the color stack to get back to a color that you want? I know that the STIC.cs_advance is out there, but not sure programatically how to utilize it.
  15. Wow ... been hoping to find this in the wild for a while. Had it as a kid (a Christmas gift from my only cool uncle!). What a great find ... I've been wanting to play it again! Congrats!
  16. I have a couple of color stack questions if anyone has a moment. 1) How do you advance the color stack after you set up the colors? 2) Am I reading right that you can only have four colors in the color stack? If so, can the colors in the color stack be changed throughout the game? 3) Are most games written in color stack mode? 4) In the documentation, it states that there are some limitations as to where the color stack color can be advanced. What is that limitation. Thanks in advance for your help!
  17. Add another idiot to the "That's alot of money, maybe I shouldn't, no wait it's gone, I want one!" crowd. Not so much to play normal games but, as I try to fiddle around with programming a game, it would be nice to see my experiments on an actual system!
  18. Great deal! Welcome to the wonderful world of obsession! And by the way ... upload pics or it didn't happen!!!
  19. All right ... listen up you primitive screwheads ... we need more people to shop from him ... Shop Smart ... Shop C-MART! You got that?
  20. As he's getting 200 to 250 a pop, I'm not sure that I blame him! Maybe I'm not allowed to comment on this (he's so secretive about it!), but does anybody have any thoughts on the "mystery" game being released along with Scarfinger? He said it's a "shooter" type game, but I'm hoping that it's not Space C*nt ... not sure that I really want that one for obvious reasons ... ("Hey daddy, what's this game?").
  21. Ohhhh ... a map of the country. Great idea! A cloth map would be awesome ... like you used to get with the Ultima series back in the day. Yeah, that may be too much to ask for, but cool! An Electronite color catalogue!
  22. To my knowledge, Jesus has nothing against Burgertime, so I think that I'm safe. Now if I were playing Debbie Does whatever, then I could perhaps see a conflict of interests.
  23. Did someone here win this? Has a Playcable box of some sort in it so my eyes widened a bit. Funny thing is, on my computer if I search completed listings for Intellivision I don't find it, but my phone found it. Interesting ... even if I find that vendor and search for their completed listings it doesn't show up ... hmmmmm. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 150904675338 I'd be interested to know if there was any Playcable documentation in it!
  24. Pink is iffy ... Crowns are typically gold ... why not use a gold box with blood (or ruby) red for the writing?
