Demo was great ... I love this game and definitely want to see this on the Intellivision! The picture of the Saxon lady was the hottest Intellivision girl I've ever seen!

I was playing with the Tutorial for Introducing Interrupts and working with the time elapsing demo. I was able to add days to the calculation and some colon's separating the days/hours/minutes/etc. Pretty cool demo ... the question that I have is this ... in playing with the program I thought that I would add something to the screen at the one minute mark, however, when I added it it worked, but it stopped the timer altogether. How can I get the item to show up but NOT affect the counter? Would I need to perform an additional interrupt sequence? Here's the portion of the code that I was playing with and the portion in red is what "kills" the timer. Any thoughts as to what I'm not understanding (and yes, I know that I have 10 tics in a second and 10 seconds in a minute ... otherwise, I'd sit here for ever watching!) MYISR PROC MVO R0, $20 ; Keep screen enabled. To crunch the numbers and the price points, we probably need more information. I think that it's safe to assume that the your current base of customers will be the initial support for the campaign. The best way to measure that base is to know how many games have been sold and what those customers want (Limited edition, CIB or cart only). Take what you've sold of D2K, for instance, and assume that is your support base. I'll make some assumptions: CIB - 150 Cart Only - 50 Let's also assume that a limited edition will not INCREASE those numbers, but pull away from it. Therefore: Limited Edition - 30 CIB - 120 Cart Only - 50 Let's assume that those need to at least cover 75% of the Kickstarter ($15,000) to set the dollar values: Limited Edition - 30 @ $100 = 3,000 (based on LTO selling 20 with perhaps more demand existing, I think that this is reasonable) CIB - 120 @ $75 = 9,000 Cart Only - 50 @ $50 = 2,500 Total of $14,500 From there, you will need some minor "donations" at the $5 or $10 range. Maybe some ROM's ($15 to $20 range?). A high level or two ($250 to $500 range). Also, you can hope for some new additions to the base with, perhaps, a wider audience in the Kickstarter world to add to the base numbers of games being sold.

I joke around about my wife and collection, but in all actuality, she's pretty cool about it. I have a "man cave" in the basement that displays all of my Intellivision games and a few Commodore 64 items. I actually get more grief about "stuff" that I bring home to resell that ends up getting piled up in the basement. Then, when she sees that she has money in the Paypal account, she stops complaining about it. Since I'm making money AND enjoying my hobby, she doesn't complain unless it takes way too much time from her and her needs.

That's a great start. The main recommendation that I would make is to have a lower entry point than $20. Most that I see start with a $5 or $10 that typically amounts to little more than a donation, but that may be the only entry point that people are willing to go. Perhaps with the $5 or $10 level you get a coupon good for that amount OFF the game when it arrives? $10 for a $10 off coupon towards a cartridge purchase $20 for the rom (and all previous awards) 60 to 150 like IntyMike said (assuming "and all previous awards") For the higher dollar awards, that's where the motivation becomes tricky, IMHO. I know for myself, that a collector's edition would probably be the high point for me and I don't care about seeing my name in the instructions booklet (but maybe that works for others). Ideas for the higher awards: An Easter Egg in their honor! A Knight named after them or a loved one! A custom title screen for their cartridge! Original notes/documentation signed by the author.

It's been mentioned before that if a programmer was already in line to the job (especially one with a track record and something to show off aka D2K), it would be easier for people to buy into the Kickstarter campaign. Say, for grins and giggles, you commit to the project for purposes of the Kickstarter. The Kickstarter gets to promote a proven programmer which will likely boost interest. IF the Kickstarter succeeds, then you have the "demand" in the product that would be necessary for your involvement. If it DOESN'T succeed, then you are able to drop your commitment to the project, no harm, no foul. Either way, you win (or lose all depending on your point of view ).

Besides INTV and other games consoles do you...
Fushek replied to voltron's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I always dreamed of setting up my own detective agency and having my secret base in a junkyard. Jupiter Jones was my hero. Where to find them ... eBay mainly. Once in a great while I'll find them in the wild at a library book sale or even occasionally at a goodwill but that is pretty rare. The other place to find them is my den. Are you looking for hardback or softback or do you not care? I have extra copies of the hardbacks (most of 1 through 28) and a near complete set of the paperback books both of which I was planning to eventually sell on eBay. If you're interested, send me a PM and maybe we could arrange something. -

My other main collection is books. I mostly like science fiction/fantasy, however, I do have a complete hardback set of all 43 Three Investigators novels (introduced by Alfred Hitchcock). Doesn't sound impressive, but they stopped producing hardback versions for the general public after number 28. The only hardbacks at that point were copies released to libraries. 29 through 43 are generally library rejects so finding them in the first place wasn't easy and find them CHEAP was near impossible. I read them as a kid (my uncle's collection) and it's just a nostalgic thing. -
I agree ... if you are patient and if you're willing to buy in bulk and resell the extras, you can still get great deals. I often will buy 30+ games for one or two and resell the rest and often I'm able to get the game for free or at a major discount. Takes time, patience and a little work, but I find it easier to tell my wife how much I'm truly spending on collecting this way. If I threw down $100 for a game by itself, I don't think she'd be as patient with me. Now, if you're talking about Spiker or one of the big boys, you're likely going to pay big bucks, but I'm in no real hurry and always hoping for luck to flow my way

Wipe the blood from thy (blazing) sword. And whoa I say to the next enemies to stand in thy path ... for the carnage shall pile high enough to reach the very heavens. Know that thy valor and bravery has been recognized at the highest of levels. I now dub thee, SIR Voltron, Knight of the Realms of Intellitopia Now rise, Sir Voltron, and use thy newfound powers wisely and for the cause of all that is good! God speed in thy journeys, brave warrior.

Congrats on achieving the 125 club ... that may be a record for the quickest to acquire them all! And Rev, you got some crazy prices on some of those like Truckin and Decathlon, not to mention a SOLID Spiker price ... WOW!

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
Fushek replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Iceman ... those are a couple of nice lots! My finds today. Someone on Craigslist listed a Commodore 64 for free as he said he didn't want to just "throw it away". Grabbed his number and searched Craigslist on his number and, surprise! He had a TRS-80 Model 1 with an Expansion unit that he didn't want to just "throw away" either. Called and picked up today. Wow ... Commodore 64 in GREAT boxed condition with all the original packaging. Fired right up when I got it home. TRS-80 had a bunch of manuals, disks, two drives, all the right cables ... after some playing around she booted up and I was able to play some old time gaming fun. There was also an old Commodore cassette player, printer and one EXTREMELY heavy TRS-80 Line Printer. It never ceases to amaze me that people would consider throwing away such a treasure! This belongs in a museum, not a land fill! I'll give this one some TLC and someone on eBay will be thrilled to own it. -
But wait! Yet a fourth island has appeared.....
Fushek replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
D2K (maybe Christmas Carol if we ever get an opportunity to get it ), World Championship Baseball and Burgertime. (Rev, your island stinks. I like DZ's island with scantily clad women better) -
And you anticipated for this thread to go normal?
-
Now we're talking! Easy ... Triple Action baby ... woot woot!
-
Astrosmash and D2K. And why on Earth do we keep getting stranded on deserted islands? Can't we get end up stranded on a "populated only by scantily clad women" island? Geesh!
-
Agreed ... that is nothing but Sweet!

You guys rock! OK ... I added gimini.asm at the start of the file just to play and at least change the colors using the C_XXX codes rather than try to remember the numbers (which is weird seeing as how I'm an accountant, you would think that I'm a numbers person!). When I change the color to anything in the second block of colors (colors 9 to 16) it changes my R to an S ... am I hitting some sort of an "overflow" for that to happen? So, right now, my X coordinate is treated thus: MVII #$55, R0 If I wanted to use the mob0_x code from gimini.asm, how would I do that? The closest thing that I can see is in the balls1.asm example: BALLINIT PROC @@x0 DECLE STIC.mobx_visb + STIC.mobx_intr I understand that this makes the MOB visible and turns on the collision detection but I can't find in that example where it's assigning the x coordinate?

Bingo. I'm new to the scene, but I tend to pace myself on my buying. I'm somewhat patient ... others out there want it now and aren't afraid to pay a premium to get it. That's why some people can sell things for crazy numbers. Sometimes, it's just a high starting price but much of the time, it's people bidding it there. As a seller, I know that I can start an item at a crazy price and hope that someone bites. If it doesn't sell, no worries, I can drop the price by 5% until someone nibbles. For the most part, I've stopped that tactic and just want to get things out of my house ... but there are some items that I'm not willing to part with unless they go for a certain amount ... It's likely to do nothing but get worse. As you bring in a larger population into a dwindling supply of resources, you will continue to drive up price. The silver lining? A larger base means more potential for profit for homebrews ... increased sales means more games being created ... and everyone likes new games!

Intellivision and Aquarius found in the wild!
Fushek replied to Fushek's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Unfortunately, it's in the worst shape of the games ... the others are near mint! Does he need it? I'm open to trades for Intv games or maybe someone could hook me up with a good deal on on getting an AV mod! Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then ... -
Thanks for all the examples ... I have a couple of questions when anyone has time: In the OneMOB, after the X attributes are defined, they are written to MOB #0's X Register at $00. I'm assuming that the locations would be stored as follows: X - MOB #0 to MOB #7 - $00 to $07 Y - MOB #0 to MOB #7 - $08 to $0F A - MOB #0 to MOB #7 - $10 to $17 C - MOB #0 to MOB #7 - $18 to $1F Am I on the right track here? There seem to be a lot of things going on in reference to "locations". Is a specific location always used for the same thing? For instance, in the OneMOB example ;; Clear border extension and scrolling registers. MVII #$30, R4 ; hdly, vdly and border extension MVO R0, $30 ; \ MVO R0, $31 ; |- Reset border extension and MVO R0, $32 ; / horiz/vert scroll regs The Locations $30, $31 and $32, do they all have a set definition for ALL intv programming? i.e. is $31 always the horizonal scroll reg, etc. If so, is there a listing of locations and what they reference? Thanks again for the examples. It's fun learning this and great to have knowledgeable people to help out!

Gameboy Advance SP w/ 15 games (need a charging cord to see if it still works!) - $5 Key to the Kingdom board game (only missing an 8 sided die which was no prob for a D&D geek like me ) - $2 -
