There are folks in this community who do that mod, to allow the system changer to be used on the other consoles, but I have no idea how much it costs anymore, haven't looked into it for quite a while.
It's neat though that this one was done back when Mattel offered the service,, can't say I've seen too many of those around.
Agreed ... it's tough to give a price as I haven't seen any floating around and sold. If you're dealing with cmart, however, you're in good hands. He plays fair.
Question though, how did you know that it was done by Mattel? Was there paperwork with it showing that it was done back in the day otherwise, I wouldn't automatically test my units just to see if it was compatible. Anything special on the bottom referencing that the mod was done?
Otherwise, that's an interesting find.

So I was playing 3DO this morning, and my fiancée left to check out a few yard sales (we weren't planning on going out, but a few listings caught her eye).
A couple hours later, when I was at the final boss battle of the game I was playing (Mazer), she gets back, pops her head in the living room window and says "I got something you may be interested in...but I'm worried I paid too much. Why don't you come out and see?"
So I went and saw, and this is what I saw:
After I picked my jaw up off the ground, I asked her how much she'd paid.
And after I picked my jaw up off the ground again...

Let's just say that it required only a single bill. And that bill didn't have a picture of Benjamin Franklin on it.
Around 40 PS1 games, 30 Genesis, 15 Saturn, 18 SNES, 12 N64, a couple for other systems, and tons of third-party controllers, multiplayer adapters, etc., etc. The only bad news is that a couple of the boxes had some rodent crap in the bottom of them. But that was practically the only crap in them, at least gaming-wise: you can't see it from the pictures, but 95% of the games are quality titles.
I can't figure out where this stuff must have come from. If it's someone's collection, why are there 3+ Game Genies for one system? And if it's a store's inventory, why are there so many AAA games, and so few shovelware titles?
Anyway, it's certainly the biggest score I've ever had. And it's all thanks to my other half!
(BTW she wasn't worried she'd paid too much -- she knew what a score she'd gotten, and was as excited as I was.)Bazinga! Great find ... that one will be legendary!

Hey Rev, did you notice that the cover art for Scarface has been uploaded recently?
Cool ... I hadn't noticed that ... Scarfinger coming soon to a theater near you?

First, you need to hop around on your left foot while chanting "Intellivision rocks, Intellivision rocks" 50 times.
Secondly, dues of $100 are due ... make checks payable to Fushek ...
Thirdly, add the Member of the INTV Brotherhood to your signature.
Oh, and if you want to skip steps one and two, that's fine as well.
Rev, is there an official membership register?

As a reseller myself, I have to shake my head at your tactics. Calling out members specifically is never the way to go and especially if you're serious about trying to be friends. I'm not going to tell you how to run your auctions, but if you try to sell things for much more than what they are worth (debatable, I know) then you should be prepared for some unflattering comments. This is a fan site with highly knowledgeable people ... they know what it SHOULD be worth.
I started coming here for two reasons:
1) To find out what many of the games were worth ...
2) To find other people who enjoy the system as much as me ...
I've stayed here for #2. The community here is great, full of life, humor and good people.
I hope that you enjoy your time here like I have, but be prepared for some rubbing when people feel that someone is getting ripped off ...

Bump for a great thread and an small observation. I just noticed on the Super Series Baseball that they didn't bother to change the overlays. Box and instructions say Super Series but the overlays still have the MLB logo and the World Series name. Interesting ...

I say I am a collector.
My wife says I have a problem.
Mike from Morgantown
My wife says the same ... my only saving grace is that I sell more than I keep these days. That way I can pass off my "slight" obsession as a money making venture. I've been slowly building my collection but I doubt that I will ever make the 125 club. Not sure how I could tell my wife, "Hey honey, look at the game worth $1,200 sitting on my shelf ... isn't that cool!"
Yeah ... that would go over well.

When you're drawing the background, everything is set up is blocks of 8x8 pictures and those blocks are typically setup with a corresponding code ( a number code). That code is used then when placing it on the screen and that code can be used more than once for the background. So, if u notice 22 used on the top of both islands and the bottom of the second island (only inverted). So, in basic terms, place item 22 in coordinates x,y.
Cool find on this stuff. Really interesting!

I'd be up for one! Count me in ...

Hey ... anybody have any of these to protect their games ... recommendations good or bad?
-
Thanks dZ! The LTO page doesn't say anything about it being available again, so I PM'd intvnut.
At one point, he mentioned that he would announce here on the forums when they were available.
I'm still hoping that I was fast enough in reply to get a chance for one of the Special Editions of the Christmas Carol ... but my guess I was late by a person or two since they only had three or four left.

Bought a large mixed lot for just this game.
Which of the Sears versions are considered rare?
I do like some of their artwork better!

I'm definitely Intellivision over Atari. As for Star Wars/Star Trek, historically I've been more for Star Trek but lately I've found I lack interest in both. I guess I'm more of a Firefly guy.
I'm still angry that they canceled Firefly

For me, Intellivision/Star Wars

Ok, here's a really simple example that puts exactly one MOB on the screen, and comments everything it's doing. It also puts a single red square in BACKTAB, so you can play with the "PRIO" bit. (PRIO controls whether a MOB appears in front of or behind the BACKTAB.)
Note: This recomputes the MOB's details every frame, which isn't really necessary. I wanted to keep the code absolutely simple. Experiment. Enjoy.
Note 2: This code requires cart.mac and assumes you have a recent enough jzintv that includes it. That way you can just unpack this in the "jzintv/examples" directory and go from there. Here are the most recent builds for Windows and OS X currently on my webserver:
http://spatula-city....10907-win32.zip
http://spatula-city....0120826-osx.zip
If you'd like a more up-to-date build, I can make it easily enough.
Thanks for the learning tool ... it's much appreciated! I'll play and see what I can do with it.
-
Thanks for the info ... I'll digest this and see if things start to make more sense in the examples ... and ask more questions from there!
-
I have some newbie programming questions that I'm hoping some of you can help me out with. I've drawn some basic background screens for fun but I want to move onto other things so thus my questions:
1) Where is the best place to start learning about the MOBs? What libraries or macros exist that I should know about? Is there an example out there that only has ONE MOB on the screen that I can learn from?
2) On drawing a background, it seems like I have basically two colors per 8 x 8 block (foreground color and background color?). I'm pretty sure, looking at the work of others, that you can have more ... am I missing something?
3) For P-Machinery, are there other libraries/macros available or is it just more of a skeleton that facilitates the moving from one stage of the game to the next? Are all the commands the same as the examples that I look at?
Thanks for any advice!
(Just for fun, I'm attaching a "what if" screen for if Disney was still making games for the Intellivision ... it's for Tangled, which was a Rapunzel movie)

Plus, that Buzz Bombers is the rare GATEFOLD box. Pretty rare by its own right.
Cmart is gonna kill me for pointing this crap out....
Interesting thought ... what is the protocol for pointing out things in auctions? For instance, if we see something in an auction that we don't want but others may, should it be pointed out? For instance, recently, I saw an auction with the Digiplay version of Pitfall in a lot with others. Should I point that out or does that only drive the price higher? Just wondering what others think ...
On this auction, I was thinking of bidding just for three games (Bits and Bytes, Motocross and Buzz Bombers) but after noticing all of the variations, I figured I'd wait for the next round

Good luck guys!

You found Jati in the wild? Damn! I am green with envy!

Yup. Wish I knew the story of how it wound up in a Goodwill in Medina, OH. From what I understand, there were only a few made (300 between the two versions?) and most ended up going home to employees up in Minnesota. I wonder if someone passed away and the family didn't know what they were donating.
Imagine my surprise when I finally found out what it was. Excitedly, I woke my poor wife up who commented, "Oh, that's nice" before she promptly went back to sleep. Some people just can't appreciate a rarity when it comes along.

Is Christmas Carol already released?
Yes and no. It made it's debut at the CG Expo but after a bug was found, it was pulled back. Copies purchased before the bug was found escaped at the show so some exist in the wild. From what I've heard, the bug has been fixed and they're planning to release the corrected version soon to the masses.

For me... it is just worth going to a few on-line sources that I know won't rake me over the coals to get what I really want. I may end up paying more in the short term, but in the long term, I am not wasting gas and time. Those count for something.
I understand what you mean to a point, but the hunt is part of the fun for me. I think of it in terms of what fishing was to my dad. He went all the time, whenever he could anyway. He even goes ICE FISHING in the UP of Michigan, so you know he's hard core. More often than not, he would catch fish, bring it home, and we'd eat it for dinner. It's not like we couldn't just buy it, but that wasn't the point to him.
It also depends on if you resell or not. Hunting in the wild, you can find all kinds of crazy stuff, not just game stuff, that you can resell and more than make up for what ever gas you spent. If you keep everything you buy, then it could end up being a pretty expensive hobby.
Usually I can pick up a lot cheap, cherry pick what I want, clean it up, test it and sell what's left for more than I paid.
And I know I'm not the only one around here that does that. For the most part, in spite of having a pretty extensive collection, I'd say at worst I'm at the break even point. So in a way, my collection hasn't really cost me anything!
Couldn't say it any better. I could afford to buy any of the games that I want, but that's not the point. There's a huge thrill in going to a yard sale or a thrift store and finding a hidden gem ... and keeping it for your collection or reselling for a profit. I'm an accountant by trade, and we DEFINITELY need some kind of excitement in our lives!
For instance, a year or two ago I found a 3M bookshelf game at a local Goodwill called Jati for $2. Had never heard of it but knew that some of the 3M games sold OK so I took a shot. Couldn't find the stupid thing on eBay (really ... what can you NOT find on eBay). After researching a bit on the internet, I found out that it was the holy grail of 3M board games and less than 60 were known to exist. I sold it on eBay for just under $400. Not only did I make a great profit, but I may have saved a piece of history from the scrapheap and made someone's day who is now proud to own it. Amazing!

I had an amazing day at the flea market today! I guess Thursdays are one of the biggest days at my local flea market. Who would know?
VHS Camcorder in a hard case with battery charger and cables: $10
Bram Stoker's Dracula and Jurassic Park for the Sega CD: $4
Case for Sonic CD (no booklet, no disc): Free
Sega Genesis controller: $0.50
Ten sealed blank Betamax tapes: $7
The Omega Virus board game: $5
And here's the big one. The one that made my day:
Mattel Intellivision: $8
I've always wanted an Intellivision and now I've found one in the wild I can die a happy man.
Welcome to the Intellivision family! Don't die yet, though, there's lots of good games to collect for it like Burgertime!

Interesting ... would it be two player only or have a player vs. computer option?

Cool video... surreal. But I still don't get the rarity of Voltron's gain, and why it says "Emily"...
-dZ.
It was sort of a running joke on the forum as it was available on eBay. It had a sticker on it saying that it was the property of Emily and people laughed that no one wanted it ... Voltron took it upon himself to purchase the lot and claim the ultimate victory of owning Emily's old Intellivision.
Not rare, just a big joke.

Picked up a SNES bundle today from a local seller. My wife found it on facebook...
SNES w/all cords + 3 controllers & 6 games. $40
Games: Desert Strike, Tetris/Dr Mario, The Hunt for the Red October, NHL '96, Super Mario Allstars & Secret of Mana... WHAT?! I was a bit thrilled... Ill probably try to resell The Bundle & Keep Secret of Mana.. LOL
Secret of Mana ... great find. I just sold one on eBay for 37.50. Always great when you can add a "rarish" game to your collection, resell the rest and basically end up paying next to nothing in the end. Nice score.
