  1. Hey ... anybody have any of these to protect their games ... recommendations good or bad? eBay Auction -- Item Number: 160786780652
  2. At one point, he mentioned that he would announce here on the forums when they were available. I'm still hoping that I was fast enough in reply to get a chance for one of the Special Editions of the Christmas Carol ... but my guess I was late by a person or two since they only had three or four left.
  3. Which of the Sears versions are considered rare? I do like some of their artwork better!
  4. I'm still angry that they canceled Firefly For me, Intellivision/Star Wars
  5. Thanks for the learning tool ... it's much appreciated! I'll play and see what I can do with it.
  6. Thanks for the info ... I'll digest this and see if things start to make more sense in the examples ... and ask more questions from there!
  7. I have some newbie programming questions that I'm hoping some of you can help me out with. I've drawn some basic background screens for fun but I want to move onto other things so thus my questions: 1) Where is the best place to start learning about the MOBs? What libraries or macros exist that I should know about? Is there an example out there that only has ONE MOB on the screen that I can learn from? 2) On drawing a background, it seems like I have basically two colors per 8 x 8 block (foreground color and background color?). I'm pretty sure, looking at the work of others, that you can have more ... am I missing something? 3) For P-Machinery, are there other libraries/macros available or is it just more of a skeleton that facilitates the moving from one stage of the game to the next? Are all the commands the same as the examples that I look at? Thanks for any advice! (Just for fun, I'm attaching a "what if" screen for if Disney was still making games for the Intellivision ... it's for Tangled, which was a Rapunzel movie)
  8. Interesting thought ... what is the protocol for pointing out things in auctions? For instance, if we see something in an auction that we don't want but others may, should it be pointed out? For instance, recently, I saw an auction with the Digiplay version of Pitfall in a lot with others. Should I point that out or does that only drive the price higher? Just wondering what others think ... On this auction, I was thinking of bidding just for three games (Bits and Bytes, Motocross and Buzz Bombers) but after noticing all of the variations, I figured I'd wait for the next round Good luck guys!
  9. Yup. Wish I knew the story of how it wound up in a Goodwill in Medina, OH. From what I understand, there were only a few made (300 between the two versions?) and most ended up going home to employees up in Minnesota. I wonder if someone passed away and the family didn't know what they were donating. Imagine my surprise when I finally found out what it was. Excitedly, I woke my poor wife up who commented, "Oh, that's nice" before she promptly went back to sleep. Some people just can't appreciate a rarity when it comes along.
  10. Yes and no. It made it's debut at the CG Expo but after a bug was found, it was pulled back. Copies purchased before the bug was found escaped at the show so some exist in the wild. From what I've heard, the bug has been fixed and they're planning to release the corrected version soon to the masses.
  11. I understand what you mean to a point, but the hunt is part of the fun for me. I think of it in terms of what fishing was to my dad. He went all the time, whenever he could anyway. He even goes ICE FISHING in the UP of Michigan, so you know he's hard core. More often than not, he would catch fish, bring it home, and we'd eat it for dinner. It's not like we couldn't just buy it, but that wasn't the point to him. It also depends on if you resell or not. Hunting in the wild, you can find all kinds of crazy stuff, not just game stuff, that you can resell and more than make up for what ever gas you spent. If you keep everything you buy, then it could end up being a pretty expensive hobby. Usually I can pick up a lot cheap, cherry pick what I want, clean it up, test it and sell what's left for more than I paid. And I know I'm not the only one around here that does that. For the most part, in spite of having a pretty extensive collection, I'd say at worst I'm at the break even point. So in a way, my collection hasn't really cost me anything! Couldn't say it any better. I could afford to buy any of the games that I want, but that's not the point. There's a huge thrill in going to a yard sale or a thrift store and finding a hidden gem ... and keeping it for your collection or reselling for a profit. I'm an accountant by trade, and we DEFINITELY need some kind of excitement in our lives! For instance, a year or two ago I found a 3M bookshelf game at a local Goodwill called Jati for $2. Had never heard of it but knew that some of the 3M games sold OK so I took a shot. Couldn't find the stupid thing on eBay (really ... what can you NOT find on eBay). After researching a bit on the internet, I found out that it was the holy grail of 3M board games and less than 60 were known to exist. I sold it on eBay for just under $400. Not only did I make a great profit, but I may have saved a piece of history from the scrapheap and made someone's day who is now proud to own it. Amazing!
  12. Welcome to the Intellivision family! Don't die yet, though, there's lots of good games to collect for it like Burgertime!
  13. Interesting ... would it be two player only or have a player vs. computer option?

  16. It was sort of a running joke on the forum as it was available on eBay. It had a sticker on it saying that it was the property of Emily and people laughed that no one wanted it ... Voltron took it upon himself to purchase the lot and claim the ultimate victory of owning Emily's old Intellivision. Not rare, just a big joke.
  17. Secret of Mana ... great find. I just sold one on eBay for 37.50. Always great when you can add a "rarish" game to your collection, resell the rest and basically end up paying next to nothing in the end. Nice score.
  18. Step right up and place your bets ... current odds: 2:1 Spiker 15:1 Playcable 50:1 Keyboard Component 80:1 White INTV
  19. I've been playing around with INTV programming myself and it is definitely difficult for a newbie to learn ... very slow going. Blocks of it are starting to make sense but trying to tie everything together is proving to kick my rear! The good news is when I post something on the INTV programming section, the guys in the know have been more than helpful in answering any questions. We are blessed with wonderful INTV programmers that not only know their stuff and make great games, but are willing to pass that knowledge onto wannabe's like me. I've been able to draw a screen (in the I'm Inspired thread in the INTV Programming section). It's not much, doesn't move or anything but I'm pretty certain that Picasso's first painting was a piece of crap (actually, I dislike most of his work, so there is that ...). If nothing else, it has given me a better understanding of the system's limitations and why many of the games are designed the way they are, and it helps you to appreciate the challenges that were there for the programmer in designing a game.
  20. Just played the other night for the first time, on my second game, I made it to the fourth screen of the first level. Didn't have time to try further ... GREAT game. My wife marveled at the graphics because she's seen the atrocity that was the Coleco version of DK. Carl, kudos on one heck of a game!
  21. Porn for Spiker (I know ... I know ... you only read it for the stories!) I agree with cmart, best story yet! Not hated ... extreme envy ... but not hated. Thanks for the stories all, always interesting to hear how the holy grail falls into someone's hands.
  22. Sumguyed! I've never heard that before ... funny stuff! Had that at a yard sale recently. Missed out on a Disneyworld monorail playset for $8.00!
  23. I'd love to hear the stories of how people managed to score their Spiker. I'm assuming that many won theirs on eBay, but I'm curious to see if anyone bought it when it originally came out or if anyone "stole" it at a garage sale, etc. If you can share price, that would be interesting as well, but understand if that's personal!
  24. Seller ID - Fushek Bidding ID - s***e (1561) My auctions typically aren't sacred or anything so feel free to snipe if you can ... and I typically only come in at the last minute when I bid anyways. I'll try to watch who I'm bidding against though ...
