on my mac with a 21" monitor the font is very small for the new section, not sure if it's just me. Yep, I also think the font is too small. I have to zoom to 150% to read it easily. fixed anyone noticed we post the boxart of Defender of the crown? :-) Yes! Rev posted a link to it on his site. Does that mean Arnauld has made progress with it? (I'm pretty sure he's making this one right?) for that matter, is there any news on Rick D? both games are not complete and still cannot predict a date.... and Rick D will be a LTO production Fair enough, but has any further work been done on either game? Please say yes. Defender of the Crown was a favorite of mine growing up (played it on the Commodore 64). It would be HUGE to see this on the Intellivision. I've seen the ROM of the beginning and everything looked awesome.

No thank you. I already have enough of the "honey get off the computer and pay attention to me" notes ... death threats ... divorce proceedings, etc.

What are your playing preferences for "Space Hawk"?
Fushek replied to rhindlethereddragon's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I have to agree, I never liked Space Hawk ... one of the worst Intellivision games ever IMHO. And really ... why does this forum's spell check not know that Intellivision is a word? It underlines it in red EVERY time! -
Definitely. Thanks for the tips everyone!

Ah ... I remember printing out the backtab coordinates before ... they make sense now! Makes it a LOT easier to change the color of each individual picture as well as giving me unlimited pictures that I can make designs for. Thanks for the info. Now, my main code looks like this ... I CALL MEMCPY Decle ($0237) ; Column 15 & 16, Row 2 Decle MoonTop ; White Moon top left and right Decle 2 CALL MEMCPY Decle ($024B) ; Column 15 & 16, Row 3 Decle MoonBottom ; White Moon bottom left & right Decle 2 ; Not efficient, but just testing ... CALL MEMCPY Decle ($02C3) ; Column 15, Row 9 Decle Zombie ; Zombie is now GREEN! Decle 1

Thanks! So far, just having fun and trying to learn a few basics in my spare time. And yes, and no, to using P-Machinery. I stepped outside for this screen just playing with the sky.asm sample and manipulating it to create the screen. I learn best when I can break down a sample program, change it, and see what happens. I do have a question ... here is the main portion of the code. The issue is that in the string code, the 0's, 1's, etc represent @@0 that are my pictures ... how can I create @@10 and have it use picture "10" and not pictures "1" and "0"? CALL PRINT.FLS DECLE 240*8 + C_WHT, $200 ;01234567890123456789 STRING "00000000000000000000" STRING "00000000000000013000" STRING "00000000000000024000" STRING "00000000000000000000" STRING "00000000000000000000" STRING "00000000000000000000" STRING "00000000000000000000" STRING "00000000000005500000" STRING "00000000000006600000" STRING "00090000080007700800", 0 CALL PRINT.FLS DECLE 240*8 + C_BRN, $200 + 12*20 ;Starts with Row 12 ;01234567890123456789 STRING "00000000000000000000", 0 CALL PRINT.FLS DECLE C_RED, $200 + 1*20 +2 ;Starts with Row 1, Column 2 STRING 'Killer', 0

Well ... I've finally dove in and did SOMETHING ... just starting small and drawing a screen. Looked at the SKY.ASM example and ran with it as a template to learn some about drawing on the screen. Played with the DECLE and made a nice little Excel program to translate an eight by eight group of cells into a DECLE command (I'm an accountant and Excel and I are good friends!). Now ... I only have to learn about drawing MOBs, collision detection, game logic, movement, level completion, keeping score, pausing and I'm there!

King of the mountain any info?
Fushek replied to atari5200dude82's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
So much for the 15th for shipping ... apparently ordering quickly helped as I just received King of the Mountain and Illusions today! They look awesome in my collection Now I just have to find time to play them and not just look at them! -
King of the mountain any info?
Fushek replied to atari5200dude82's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Yep, just ordered yesterday! Looking forward to King of the Mountain ... I've never played and only saw the video of it ... but it looks like a fun one! -
good deal on ebay right now Diner and Chip Shot
Fushek replied to Steve Jones's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I agree ... eBay it but advertise it here. That way you get the AA crowd and everyone else ... -
Someone really should re-issue 4Tris......
Fushek replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
As a somewhat newbie, I would be part of the 10% that missed the original (and I'm certainly not willing to risk my wife's wrath by spending $400 on a game!). I would buy one if re-released ... What FB post? I'm allergic to FaceBook, so I can't see it. I'm not allergic but find Facebook to be a complete and utter waste and a drain on my IQ ... and that post was? -
It's Donkey Kong ... let's face it, if you created an app for the iPad exactly like this, Nintendo would be on you faster than Rev on a Golden Girl ... this escapes through because it's created for a system that most of the rest of the world have forgotten about. People still buy Intellivisions (I still sell them on eBay quite well!) but they buy them to relive their favorite games. That creates a market, but only for old existing games that people played as a kid. Some people, such as myself, will stumble onto this board and find the wonderful world of Intellivision here and see the value in new games ... but not most. I think that you need to appeal to them in one of two ways. First, bring a popular game onto the system (such as D2K has done) or second, to create a sequel to existing Intellivision games (who wouldn't want to buy Night Stalker II or Super Pro Snafu, etc). They get a new game AND a sense of nostalgia. I understand there are potential legal issues with either of those plays but are they realistic as selling cartridges does not seem to conflict with the current Intellivision owner's game plan.

I use an rf adapter to hook up to my Samsung DLP tv and have had no problems. Have you tried one of those?
-
I may... (ignores verbal taunts from wife in the background) be interested in ... (avoids sharp objects thrown from wife in the kitchen) some of those items ... (sidesteps anvil dropped from ceiling) despite the fact that my life may be slightly endangered. And thank you for the dedication to the Intellivision. I just recently started reliving my childhood (can anyone say mid-life crisis?) and I've really enjoyed learning about the extended community here at AA.
-
Not necessarily ... many people can't figure out how to plug that RF cable into their HDMI slot

Wow ... what a cool find! Love that picture of Space Battle and Slots? ... there's information on that box alone that I've never heard of before. Isn't fascinating to find out something new after all these years? Great find and I'll cross my fingers that it still works!
-
I must admit to being part of that problem (waiting for the box, that is). I did forget a third option ... pre-orders. In that case, you usually need to offer some discount or "extra" for accepting someone's money early ... a numbered copy of the game ... perhaps a copy signed by the game's author (or perhaps that's another money making idea altogether!) Regardless, I truly hope to see your venture succeed!

I've seen a lot of posts discussing the financial aspects of the homebrew market and it seems to me that much of the issue is in the start-up costs involved. Obviously, you have the initial expenses of mass producing carts, overlays, manuals and boxes. The only one that you can achieve economies of scale would be the carts (which can be used for multiple games) whereas you are projecting demand for the other items. Anyway you look at it is that the upfront costs are the mountain and, once you sell enough to get over the summit, then you have profit to reinvest in other games or to return to the programmers and owners of the company. But until you get to the summit, cash is always an issue. Not knowing your situation (if you plan on incorporating, partnership or whatever) it's hard to give any advice. However, there are two ways that come to mind to help get to the summit more quickly. 1) A loan - probably not likely as I don't see any banks jumping into the Intellivision homebrew market and I doubt that the Games for your Intellivision folks have any urge to put their personal lives on the line to sign off for it. 2) Issuing stock or part ownership ... The second is an interesting idea as you have a small, fanatical base that may be interested in owning a small portion of the company. I don't know if it's something that may be viable for your specific company, but I'm pretty sure that there are some people who would love to receive a nice shiny certificate as a "stock holder" in the company to frame on their wall. And, in the event that the company becomes profitable there are the possibilities for a "dividend" back to the shareholders. Just food for thought from your local CPA representative

Upcoming Intellivision Game: Minehunter - Box Art Revealed
Fushek replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Nice artwork! I'm one of late comers so I missed this game the first time around. Glad to see that I'll get the chance to own this one as well. -
That is nothing short of incredible. Really reminds you of the old days of opening that flap and pulling out your game. You guys have truly outdone yourself on this one ... and true fans of the old system appreciate the extra attention to detail!
-
Nice ... can't wait to see and play the game. First explosion looks like fireworks! So when is the release? A month, two, five?
-
Right.... Carl, how did you manage to be allowed by Nintendo to release a new Donkey Kong game for the Inty? Was it easy? Or you wrote them asking for permission, they didn't reply and then applied the "silence is assent" rule? I know it's not easy for small/indie devs to start a discussion with such big companies so I'm sincerely curious to know how things went since I know you are a very serious guy who plans all his steps properly and I'm sure you wouldn't have risked releasing such a game if Nintendo objected... Cheers, Roberto Firstly, Nintendo is not Intellivision Productions. They are aware of D2K, as we have sent the game to their headquarters in both America and Japan. I also traveled to Kyoto, Japan to meet with Miyamoto Shigeru. What have you done? Where is your game? Put some time, money, and sacrifice into a project and then you'll have earned your right to point fingers. Whoa ... What fingers did he point? He sincerely asked a legit question ... one that I was wondering when reading this thread as well. Perhaps instead of attacking him, if you could explain how and what you were able to accomplish with the company perhaps it would be easier for others to follow in your footsteps of going through the proper channels to get things done. And, I've checked out the website on his signature before and remembered that he has written a couple of books on retro gaming. As someone who has written a book as well (unpublished), he has certainly put some time, money and sacrifice into a project or two. http://www.ProgramAndPlay.com
