  1. That is nothing short of incredible. Really reminds you of the old days of opening that flap and pulling out your game. You guys have truly outdone yourself on this one ... and true fans of the old system appreciate the extra attention to detail!

  2. Look no further than the AA store, where they are selling Space Invaders, Pac Man, and Mario Bros. http://www.atariage....oduct_list&c=39

Did they get permission from Namco, and Nintendo? hardly...Does anyone have permission from Nintendo to release any DK games? No

So why bother with Keith...it doesnt make sense.

Right.... Carl, how did you manage to be allowed by Nintendo to release a new Donkey Kong game for the Inty? Was it easy? Or you wrote them asking for permission, they didn't reply and then applied the "silence is assent" rule?

I know it's not easy for small/indie devs to start a discussion with such big companies so I'm sincerely curious to know how things went since I know you are a very serious guy who plans all his steps properly and I'm sure you wouldn't have risked releasing such a game if Nintendo objected...

    Cheers,

    Roberto

Firstly, Nintendo is not Intellivision Productions. They are aware of D2K, as we have sent the game to their headquarters in both America and Japan. I also traveled to Kyoto, Japan to meet with Miyamoto Shigeru.

What have you done? Where is your game?

Put some time, money, and sacrifice into a project and then you'll have earned your right to point fingers.

Whoa ... What fingers did he point? He sincerely asked a legit question ... one that I was wondering when reading this thread as well. Perhaps instead of attacking him, if you could explain how and what you were able to accomplish with the company perhaps it would be easier for others to follow in your footsteps of going through the proper channels to get things done.

And, I've checked out the website on his signature before and remembered that he has written a couple of books on retro gaming. As someone who has written a book as well (unpublished), he has certainly put some time, money and sacrifice into a project or two. http://www.ProgramAndPlay.com

  3. Does this auction have the Space Spartans variation that you are looking for?

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 2709953749641?ff3=2&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&item=270995374964&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

    Cool variation listing!

Not now! ;) Wow, what are the odds of that? Thanks for the heads up Fushek, much appreciated. Normally I don't go that long without looking at ebay but I guess I've been busy the last few hours and missed this getting posted. Weird. This game comes up infrequently, it's not terribly expensive usually, but I haven't seen one for a while and it's one of those weird ones that's eluded me. Unbelievably, I think the last bilingual Mattel game I need is now PGA Golf/Le Golf PGA.

    Thanks for the props!

By the way, congrats on your last batch of sealed games, you got some crazy prices on some of them, particularly Word Fun. :-o

Glad you got it! Actually saw the auction before I saw your thread and thought that one looked odd (not to mention a nice INTV III with original packing!)

And thanks for the props on my games ... that was crazy on the Word Fun especially since I mentioned the crushing of the box in the back. Is the game that hard to find sealed?

  4. Glas to see you got it Fushek.....but what was jason refering about? Did I miss something?

I won the World Series Baseball...among other games from the seller. Long story, but at the last minute he cancelled the order saying that he didn't have the game and sent it to the wrong buyer. He did refund my $6.50 plus shipping, and said that IF the game was returned he would sell it to me for half price. This raised red flags for me since it was the rarest in the bunch and the only other one listed was pikachu's (asking price $160). I figured he may have seen that one and possibly wanted to back out of the sale. This happens all the time and it just seemed too fishy. That's why I asked about River Raid, the other most valuable. Ironically, World Series went to Fushek with River Raid and I was just being paranoid.

On a side note, the seller was really nice - incredibly fair, prompt replies, answered all my questions, probably lost money on the game because of the hassle. I received the other games today and they were all well packaged. If any of you get a chance to do business with him, you will not regret it. Very professional and one of the better sellers on eBay.

Agreed, very professional and apologetic. Actually, I just heard from him last night and he sent me a label to return the game to him. Hopefully, it then can make it's way back into your hands!

He even gave me a refund for my troubles (totally unnecessary as we all got sweet deals on his stuff in the first place).

  5. Glas to see you got it Fushek.....but what was jason refering about? Did I miss something?

Before I received the stuff, I got an message that he had shipped the wrong thing, wanted to send a return label to ship it back, offered to discount everything 60% for my troubles, etc. I think Jason was thinking that there might be something fishy going on. Maybe the person that he didn't ship the item to, he offered to give a full refund and forget the transaction (which makes sense, for what he charged for the items, to ship it all around, he's not going to be making much).

As a warning, I'm moving back on target ...

Received River Raid today (box is in good condition but overlays are crappy, but for 8 bucks, no worries!) and World Series as he said. Still waiting on the label ... but seller seems legit.

Those River Raid overlays are the worst of the whole INTV collection. It's bizarre how crappy they are, I swear if you look at them funny they start flaking. Great deals had by all from this guy.

True ... I like labels but more interested in a nice box that looks impressive on my shelf. I never use the overlays.

  6. I think it's funny and kind of cool that both buyers are members of AA.

We're probably the only few that are trolling eBay constantly ... waking up in the middle of the night and instinctively reaching for our iPhones to check eBay for new Intellivision items ... leaving parties early if out of service range in constant fear of missing that BIN Spiker for $10 ...

Or maybe that's just me :ponder:

  7. Only a fraction of those who reserved a copy came through with an actual order.

I'm waiting for the Collector's Edition.

Same here ... thought about buying a play and a collect, but I have a wife and can only justify one so waiting for the Collector's Edition.

  8. I won two of his games ... CIB River Raid as you mentioned and CIB World Championship Baseball.

I got an email from him stating that he sent me the wrong game (World Series Baseball instead of World Championship) and he wants me to forward that onto the right person (he's sending a label). He says he's still sending me my stuff, but offering a 60% discount for my troubles in the mishap which isn't really necessary since they were dirt cheap to begin with.

I know that I've mis-shipped once or twice in years of selling, so it's not unheard of to mix up a shipment so I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt. I'll let you know if anything else alerts me to an issue though ...

  9. First post on this thread ... fun reading about everyone's finds.

Last week a local storage locker rental shop advertised a Colecovision on Craigslist with a bunch of games. Went there and got more than I bargained for

Coleceovision (REALLY fuzzy picture to the point of being unplayable) with 30+ games

Atari (not beautiful cosmetically, but working perfectly) and a couple of games

NES (flashing red light of course!) with 4 games (including a gold zelda)

Nintendo 64 (working perfectly) with 8 games including 007 and Vigilante 8 2nd Offense

All for $70. Considering the coleco games are probably worth that much, I think that I made out ok.

  10. Now it's listing for $25,000... Not exactly worth a car to me.

Yes, but he has now also included an orphan overlay 3 set and at least a cart of every original Intellivision game. Definitely worth that additional 10K.

Ok, I've heard several people mention that people will post auctions with a high price "just to attract attention". Am I the only one that sees this as a negative? Anytime I see an auction like this, the seller is added to my mental black list. I have no interest in dealing with them in any manner. This way of "selling" is just an incredible turn off to me.

Oh, it's absolutely a negative to me. Can't speak for anyone else, though.

Immediate negative. Whenever I see his auctions, I just laugh. I resell on eBay at times but I would never dream of doing something like this. It would ruin my good reputation. :ponder:

  11. Fushek, any luck? Or are you still waiting on me to provide an example on drawing a background image? I owe you that, I know, I just haven't had a chance.

    -dZ.

I think that I'm understanding the logic and some of the code ... having issue so far in "putting it all together". I feel like I have a bunch of car parts but don't know how to assemble the engine. A background image would be awesome, but don't go to any real troubles ... if I take too much of your time, the community will castrate me for delaying Carol (which looks great, BTW)!

  12. Fushek,

    keep reading the p-machinery code...

I did try as you mention to retro-engineer some Joe demo and it's going nowere since optimized code you cannot handle in the beginning.

start working on the title and have fun

after that try to play with colors.... I guess the best is to have a target of yourself, not modifying existing code.... fix a very simple target (like you put a question on screen and answer by pressing the keytab)

Thanks for the advice. For me, this will be a slow process as I squeeze in a little time to learn in between professional life, family and activities. It's something I'd really like to do. Since I was a kid, I've always wanted to create a computer or video game ... figured why not try to do it on the game system that I grew up with and loved?

It will be a long, slow process but one that I really feel I need to do ...

  13. I don't think that there's any doubt that Donkey Kong is the best of the bunch. While it was nice to see the others released and I bought them all (except Rocky which I somehow missed), Donkey Kong showed what Coleco SHOULD have released back in the day.

  14. I concur, the 8048 is not what it used to be. The 16 bit registers are lacking in comparison to the6502. The processor doesnt run the 16 bit processor smoothly as we had all hoped. The CPU clock speed could be bumped up to compensate the inferior opcodes and in turn run the ROMS much nicer. We should hope for more complex algorithms with the CP1610 for sure as the clock rate is much more to programmers liking.

Well, I think it needs a higher bit-rate in the cowbell waveform.

I have a video game fever ... and the only prescription ... is more cowbell waveform.

  15. The "pies," along with the work "Donkey" in the title, add just that little bit of surrealism that matches what I think of when I think of Japan.

It starts with pies in a sky scraper and it ends with walking mushrooms, flying turtles and spinning around in the air while wearing a raccoon tail...

    And then there's this.

You know you're WAY too into video games when your first thought is "That looks fun!" and you start googling bathrooms in your local area ... (although, assuming there aren't many of these in Cleveland ...)

  16. I live in a dillusional world where i think that all intellivision enthusiets/homebrewers/collectors are one big happy family.

Im doing my best to stay nuetral and will refrain from really commenting on anything that goes on behind the scenes.

I hope that EVERYONE that chooses to release ANY kind of game for my favorite system can just get along and 'let it go' , whatever it is.

    :woozy:

    ~ rev

Ditto ... I'm appreciative of anyone taking the time and effort to release prototypes, games, new home-brews or anything for the Intellivision. This kind of activity will turn people away from the forums and the from home-brew market in general.

Let It Go and just :)

  17. I have a weird question, You know how some of the Homebrews available on the Atariage store are always in stock, some have been available for YEARS, when they run out the just make more.

Do they ever make upgrades/changes to them to improve them?

I just noticed (and it's probably been there for years) that your picture for your ID, the princess is yelling "REV!" I know everyone else on here probably knew that ... but I almost choked on my water when I saw it ... funny stuff!

  18. OK ... I'm ready to start playing around have a couple of basic questions.

    1) To start, I plan on breaking down some of the tutorials to get a basic understanding and then recreating in the pmach environment. Am I correct that most of the programming will take place for now in the pmach-test.asm or should I make changes directly into the asm files in the state sub-folder?

    2) I thought to walk through the Hello World and Tag Along Todd tutorials on Intelliwiki. Does that make sense as a good place to start?

    3) If you have a simple/basic screen background drawn (something that would just show a picture) that I could break down, it would help. I learn best by breaking down the work of others!

    Thanks again ...
