  1. It doesn't look too advanced for Intellivision on its own, but for sprites to be visible on top of that, they'll have to be fully opaque, requiring at least 2 colors each. Princess Quest is already comparable to this, but leaves most of the play area bkack so that you can see the sprites.

I agree. I'd humbly suggest being careful to not make the scenes TOO busy with the background. Almost too much going on and you would be in danger of losing some of the sprite action!

I'm looking forward to seeing the system pushed on this one. Good luck with it!

  2. You have been warned ...

I'm new to emulation, but just traded an old Daisy BB gun for a modded xBox with Unleash X and a few emulators installed but very few (4) games actually installed. I've figured out how to take a rom and ftp it over to the xBox, so my setup so far is good.

    My questions are:

    1) Is there a good site to download ROMs from and, especially, in bulk rather than 1 at a time?

    2) There's no MAME emulator installed, anyone recommend a good one that works with the xBox? Coinops?

    3) The harddrive is, I think, the original 8 GB version ... is it difficult to swap to a new HD that has more space?

Any information in the right direction would be helpful. Thanks!

  3. My 13 year old daughter recently had a sleepover in which they decided to have a shoe decorating party. She loves art, so she took her time and made an awesome pair of shoes!

She rolls her eyes often at my old gaming, but I must be doing something right :)

  4. OK ... my positive story for the day:

I buy at garage sales to sell on eBay. My wife and I have fun doing it together and we make some extra cash at the same time.

Recently, I bought a box of old toys etc recently for $10 from someone and found an old Daisy BB Gun. Threw it on Craigslist (eBay won't let me sell it) and someone offered to trade for it. I ended up trading it for a modded xBox that plays SNES, genesis and N64 games.

So, I have a great emulation xBox for $10 (actually for free, cause I've already sold some of the other toys for $30 and have more to sell!)

Thanks, Rev, for the positive vibes!

  5. Interesting ... I'm torn on this.

It's almost like cheating. You have an old system and you want to make a game for it. However, the system has limitations that you can't get past ... so what to do? Just update the hardware.

Programming with the existing limitations of the system is what impresses me the most when a new game comes out. Take for instance D2K. What Carl was able to accomplish with the existing limitations of the Inty is nothing short of incredible. That's why the idea of Defender of the Crown is so impressive as well ... a big game programmed on a little system.

Also, PLEASE consider making new games as well. If I want to play Castlevania, I can play it on the NES. That's where the nostalgia is for me with that game, not the Inty. You can make fun, unique games for the Inty using the original system ... look no further than Christmas Carol for a great example! Also, three letters ... RPG :-D.

Don't get me wrong, happy to see you guys entering the arena and I'm definitely interested in the product and seeing what it can do.

  6. Based on my experience over the last 10 years. I do not rely on this forum. I do have a website and have communicated with many gamers and collectors over the years.

The only reason I released games CIB was to relive the feeling when I was a kid. The games I am releasing now are nothing new and will not create that feeling. SP Tennis was a special one-off release and Super Chef BT was a tie-in as I liked to release 2 games at a time. Ms Night Stalker only happened as a tie in to Ms PacMan.

So what you're saying is ... you need a second game to release with Super Pro Baseball ;)

  7.

D2K SE won't be in the race.....nor DOTC.....

That's a shame as I am a huge DOTC fan and, if the game is half as good as the screens look, it would would take a huge, competitive entry to change my vote.

I understand your desire not to be drug into the "crap" that may ensue in the GOTY 2016 voting, but i would ask you reconsider allowing it's entry. If not, I understand, but I would prefer to have DOTC as an option.

Looking forward to the game. Screenshots look great. Tell the programmer(s) to keep up the good work ...

  8. I might sit this one out. The premium copies sound cool with the new levels, clear cart shell with new label, new overlays, new manual, and a sweet poster; however a new box would be a big bonus for collectors to differentiate on display. I realize a new box print would be costly, though. Either way, those are way out of my price range. Limited as they are, I get that these aren't for everyone.

The $100 level only offers new levels, new cart label and new manual. Same box, same overlays. It might be good for someone who missed out on the original D2K release that's no longer available at its original price of ~$70, but still a hefty premium for a slight upgrade with mostly original components.

Not trying to talk anyone out of this, I'm just weighing in.

Yeah ... this. I bought the special edition of Carol for $100 back in the day and that was a brand new game with new materials, etc. $100+ for new levels with same box and materials does seem a bit much.

There's only so many versions of Donkey Kong that I need, and I've started being a lot more selective about how many (and which) homebrews that I buy.

Good luck with the sales, and it's a shame to hear that Carl is leaving the scene. We are losing a great talent.

  9. Today it's kingsday. A great day with lots and lots of fleamarkets.

Usually i go to a few of them because it's the best day in the year to score great stuff in the wild.

Today no exception. I wanted to visit 2 since we are on holiday, but the weather on our island was bad, so we traveled to the other island because it was dry there.

Although there where only a few people putting stuff out because of the weather i got very lucky.

One stand had a lot of cd-i stuff, and i finally got Zelda Adventure for 1 euro. All games where a euro. Sadly arcade classics is case only. But the rest is complete.

    Incredible find! Congrats!

    So, what exactly is kingsday?
