Zylonbane, what are your credentials?
-
Oddly enough, they did make that claim in a mag interview. I think it was Bill Rehbcock who said it? It was an article that talked about the imminent release of the Jag CD player. I am not sure who said it but it was said by Atari management.

Jaguar New Vs. Jaguar Now Has your opinion chaged
JagChris replied to Pete5125's topic in Atari Jaguar
That's a cool story Vanadium. -
I like Vid Grid. All my friends liked Vid Grid. That was the 'Let's Get drunk and try to beat each others time' party game for the weekend.

Jagware need graphics man (or woma) and musician
JagChris replied to GT Turbo's topic in Atari Jaguar
I don't think Marlysa needs so much sleep. -
Statements like that are gonna piss Thunderbird off. Hahaha!!
-
Talking like that is going to piss FROG(Gorf) off! LOL!

I believe they were referring to the Jags potential straight out of the box, without any hardware add on. Here's the rest of the thread for anyone interested. http://jaysmith2000.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=4478

Technical specifications are not subject to opinion, doofus. The Jag has a 64-bit data bus. You can even open the system up and count them. So get over it. Like how people argue the 2600 was "4bit", hilarity. I think one time GameFan said the 2600 was 4-bit. Or one of them mags. It's amazing how these people get considered to be authorities in the media.

Lucky for us Jag fans we do have Hobbyist developers who manage to find the time, the energy and the love for the console to become just that intimate with it.

As I just said, according to the PROGRAMMER of Battlesphere, it ISN'T stretching the limits and can be done even better. Battlesphere just happen's to be as far as the Jag was pushed so far... You probably should clarify that it was Battlesphere Gold Thunderbird said he could outdo now. Didn't he say he could do it fully texture mapped now or more polygons and same textures? Yeah but according to FROG(Gorf) the Jag could still whip the Neo Geo. Not only in processing power but that the Jag's compression ability was pretty impressive.

I think Rayman is damn good as a platformer. I don't see why it isn't as good as a Super Mario game. As for the PSX version being harder, my friend told me the same thing as well. But considering the Jaguar was the first version made, the later versions had the benefit of hindsight and new ideas. Hell, I think by the time they started the Playstation version the Jaguar version was nearly done wasn't it? Because I believe there isn't anything in 2D the Playstation could do that the Jaguar couldn't womp on. The Jaguar may not be able to do the 3d anywhere like the Playstation but when it comes to 2D I'm sure the Jag could put the Playstation in a chokehold. Edit: Wasn't there a 32x version of Rayman coming out as well? I wonder how that would of been?

Yeah for some people T2K isn't their cup of tea. My friend thought it was so so because for him it was too much of the same thing over and over again.
-
I do believe the CD add on does have additional memory built into it. Something like 256 or 512k. Can't remember. I am pretty sure it does have a buffer of some sort.

OK, first off there is some misinformation right off the top in that article. Rayman for the Jag does have the spark shower or whatever when you grab the crystal. Slowdown is very rare in Jag Rayman. This is obviously another biased bullshit comparison and review.
-
I think we haven't gotten anywhere near yet what the Jag can do in 2D. It's a damn shame.
-
I think the artwork is really good considering it's freehand. I have it on my desktop now. I'm looking forward to seeing her artwork in upcoming JagWare releases.
-
Understood. So I guess if the hypothetical happens, then JagWare is the only available programmers.
-
Zylonbane spreading the love.

I'm talking about a percentage of the games success. Let's say Direct/Telegames wanted to finish up some project. They had a bunch of artwork done. Maybe a little coding. Maybe what coding was done needs to be trashcanned sorta thing.

Internet Relay Chat. It is another IM medium, like AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ. But I do believe it is the oldest IM medium.

Thanks for the input GT. But just to be very clear on this, I am not speaking for Direct 4/Telegames. Nor am I actually saying they are looking for or need developers. I am JUST CURIOUS as to what in the way of developers would be available from AA members if a company jumped in and did want to finish some old Jag projects from back in the day.
-
So, if I understand your reply correctly GT, there are at least 3 members of Jagware who might be interested in working with Telegames/Direct 4 or possibly other companies if they want to hire Jag programmers to finish projects? Are there any other takers?
-
I'm wondering how many AA Jag forum members consider themselves proficient Jag coders. I was thinking companies like Direct4 mentioning something about Jag development or perhaps finishing up unfinished games if I read that right. I was just curious to see how many coders would possibly be available to help if some company like Telegames was interested in finishing up projects for the Jag. They could possibly recruit programmers here and create a development team to finish some of the unfinished works. Of course the programmers wouldn't work for free. Just a thought.
