2 hours ago, WAVE 1 GAMES said:But the Game Drive from SainT is something entirely different. It's not a stand alone game.
I'll touch on this. GD falls into the category of something people want to plug into their Jaguars cart slot really badly. Whether it's a game or something that plays a collection of games. And it was at $200 a pop. And apparently there were almost 700 customers out there with $200 disposable cash to spend at that time. This does not count the people who did not have that kind of disposable cash at that moment.
The numbers from other sales of things that people want to plug into their Jaguars cartridge slot really badly are comparable.
So give the community something it wants to plug into their Jags really badly at a cheaper price more can afford sooner...
The two limited runs of Another World sold out quickly. They didn't sit around for two months let alone two years. And apparently demand is still high, hence the piracy.
-
It happened. Jesus Christ. A 200 Dollar unit sold 700 instantly. Made seller curl up into a fetal position.
Two 200 runs of Another World sold out instantly.
400+
Look I'm not going to keep repeating myself. You guys are denying reality that's right in front of your eyes. This is the potential salesof an AA title. Some maybe seem to be negative just for it's own sake.
Some are making false equivalencies.
I'm done repeat it. You guys can go whatever and hopefully readers can make their informed decision.

Well hell Agradeneu we were doing so well. Can't you just ask me to explain why I think that? Instead of this negativity.
If she uses the JD source it all has to be released when the game is. And I do believe any of the ZT code used with it.

Rebecca couldn't use and I don't believe would need it. She could probably come up with some thing custom and at least as good.

Then there's the disconnected collects that pay scalpers bootleggers like the Laird on eBay that feeds on lack of supply and naity of the casual collector. He might make more since he sales his games for 120 a pop. Gatzee and piko sell for 50. Atari age song bird around 30- 80. But you might sell 20 at 50 that's just 1000 - pay and materials that's paltry even selling 200 at 50 is only 10k agian minus material shipping manufacturing the time out of some ones life. You should be greatful any games are released. The Jaguar is never going to live up to the what you think in your head maybe maybe quake prototype for Jag will be released maybe dactyl joust or zone Hunter. Then you can see what the Jag was cappable of.
I just read the rest of this unnecessarily snarky post. It's apparent you're just out to troll. As long as guys like you are polluting the community it will never live up to its potential. So you're right about that.
Welcome to my ignore list

12 hours ago, agradeneu said:Like I said before, 1:1 ports from Genesis make little sense, as the Genesis is much more popular Retro platform and most people owning Jaguar most likely have a Genesis too and can play the game on the original hardware, if they wish to.
A Jaguar version has to be significantly enhanced to make it a worthwhile addition to the library by any means, especially if you consider the premium prices fans are obliged to pay for a "new" Jaguar game. We have 3 good FPS for the Jaguar and the Genesis hardware was not exactly build for that genre of games, in fact its pretty weak for FPS games. A 1:1 port would be a weak expierence on the Jaguar which has much better to offer. It would be just a matter of convienience and the benefits of generating some extra cash for the I.P.owner.
Yes we got that. No one in there right mind is wanting to settle with a 1:1 port. Especially with the source available.
I doubt the other platforms it's coming out for are willing to settle either.

No that means that just those who had $200 immediate disposable cash to spend at that time.
And there are still more popping up looking for it.

Nice score

Did they happen to give you the source to the sequel, Beyond Zero Tolerance?

Then what is relevant? Before you have actually sold a game all you have is sales projections.
And the evidence shows a killer app will hit the 400 mark on the Jaguar easily.
Out Of This World 400 units.
Robinson's Requiem on CD 400+ units
Saint SD card nearly 700 sales as soon as the buy button went active. With more requesting it. And that's just those with $200 immediate disposable cash on hand.
Skunkboards still selling, last batch due to parts obsolesence. Sales must be over 1k by now.

Unless you are doing shitty inkjet on the cheap cases and crappy manuals and boxes, there is a significant initial cash injection required, which inevitably leaves you with large stockpiles waiting to be sold.
You guys should all try and publish a game. After you've made one, of course. Put up or shut up
Is that what happened with OOTW? Trickle sales?
Or the SD card? Saint couldn't handle the near 700 in trickle sales?

5 hours ago, Lost Dragon said:If sales projections during the Jaguar's commercial lifespan were so low, it was not worth the time of commercial teams to write for the Jaguar from the ground up,when converting existing titles, why is there the expectation those kind enough to invest time and energy into converting games now, should take a different approach, when only 200-300 people might be interested in buying/playing the game?
We now know you can easily double that number for a killer app.

It would have to do quite a bit better than switchblade. And I think it would by a lot.

This figures banded about of around 70 global sales seems to suggest there's not much of a market for the current approach in any case.
I'm supportive both in writing and in buying lots of the games coming through, but don't see why I have to be happy clappy about everything
You're right. You don't have to be. I just wish the happy clappy side would speak up more.

I have no problem with disagreement. None at all. But the way you go about it could use some polish.
But the other half of the problem is the only voice seems to be a negative one. None of the 100s who would enjoy a upgraded port to Zero Tolerance on the Jag except Sauron have spoken up. No creative discussion.
Just one negative voice jabbing sticks at Piko. He doesn't know the difference. He thinks that's everyone 'if the community is going to be like that'
-
Un goddamn believable. 'We'? Swansee must have a mouse in his pocket. Because he sure as hell doesn't speak for the community.
This community is jinxed or something.

2 hours ago, agradeneu said:Without a completely rewritten engine and redone graphics that second rate Genesis Wolfenstein clone is pretty pointless porting exercise for the Jaguar. Buy a Genesis to play a Genesis game - sounds like a plan?
Not really. Sounds rather contrary just to be that way. Almost like saying buy an ST to play an ST game.
It's a near totally different system. Of course engine would need rebuilding. You know who Burger Becky is?
I dunno. This opportunity has a lot of potential. It's a shame of all the 100s of people who would love a good port of this the one voice that pops up immediately is someone who's gotta bash it. And then those who would enjoy it instead of voicing a yay go on big rambling posts babbling about how in the next life they want to use the WMCJ source code to port Revolution X.
This community is depressing.

Stick with the firesale IPs then.... 😂

She's a top tier professional programmer. If Burger Becky said she'd work for you on Jag stuff then she's by far the top choice to try to recruit for converting Zero Tolerance to the Jag. For those who may not know she did 3D0 Doom and Killing Time.
If not that then if you can get her to work for you on the Jag regarding ANYTHING, then do so.

Well you're in the wrong forum. Go post about it in the PC section.

Thanks for the link machine.
I can see why they were having a fire sale on these IPs.
If he could get Zero Tolerance converted for Jag the sales would hit the roof and bounce.

My understanding is Doom and Doom 2 use the same engine. Someone a few years ago here stated their thoughts that Doom II used a newer engine and a programmer from the Doom community popped up and said they're the same engine.
For what that's worth
