Count me in ! I have 2 4 port systems hooked up in one room. One is in my audio rack with my PS1 audiofile CD player at the bottom of the rack is a dedicated TV for the CD display and my first 5200. The other is on my full gaming set up TV. Also have the box it came in and a Sean multi cart. Would love to see someone create a synth cart, Drum machine Cart or anything that would enable me to make music on it!

Have you ever wanted something too much? I mean, as a child I wanted to be and in many ways was Davey Osborne. I looked through Atari catalogs and had my parents on the hunt for a Cloak & Dagger "tape" during Christmas of 1984. I even made my own C&D game by taping paper down over another game and drawing the best art I could with my 9 year old hand. I realize this game can be emulated and played on my computer but there is something really cool about holding the 5200 C&D cart in my hand and being able to put that in my 5200.
You really should post a picture of your 9 year old drawing hand label art !

I am dying to have this as a working cart where I can make music with it on my 5200
not just listen to demo songs
Anyone
developing this dream of mine?
I have downloaded the Atari 800 for my psp
and 5200 roms work with it
Does anyone know if the download on the RMT site will work on my psp?
Ok I know I am talking to myself here but
if anyone cares to know
I did get the RMT working on my psp with a Atari800 emu
I can play songs that are in the files but I still can not seem to get it to make original music
Anyone ......
Buller.......
Buller..........

Good info for those who don't know about it already. I did the tin foil fix long ago and they've worked great ever since.
Truth be known though, it's NOT at all easy putting the controllers back together. Prepare to be a little pissed off and frustrated at first. Takes practice but well worth the results.
Much easier than a colecovision controller in my opinion
speaking of which anyone have any quick fixes for those?

Ok turns out 4 jays did give me REV9
one controller works great
the other
the joystick is all off
I tried opening it up to make sure those little calibration things were at there correct positions
but it did not make a difference
the black wire does seem to be in the way of the joystick making the full rotation
but I think that placement is normal
Anyway
I do not mind the 5200 joysticks that much
once there working
I do not regret sending the joysticks I did to 4jays
but the eraser trick seems to work just as good
I do have the joystick ad on's that allow me to use the big button classic joysticks
in conjunction with the 5200 joystick start buttons
Still have yet to try the wico ones

My nephew is hooking me up with programs for my Atari 1040st
I hope to get homebrew music programs and cool games
I did not grow up with one of these but now I have this ill spot for it in my studio
and want suggestions of what to fill floppies with to
Also my big question
Do I really need double density floppy discs?
and if so where do I get a box these days?
-
Yeah, I have it along with foil dots. It worked great until the old flex circuits cracked and peeled up. That's the reason for the rev 9 flex circuits.
ok that makes sense
because they did seem kinda flimsey
but I bet they last for a long time
until I have to replace them
But how do I know that 4jays put rev9 in my rebuilt controllers?
what do I look for ?
-
Thank this guy for posting this on youtube
because it really does work
and I kinda feel like 4 jays charged me 40 bucks to "rebuild" my controllers
when in actuality they probably just went at the contacts with an eraser
How can I tell if they really put in rev 9 circuit boards?
I did this quick fix on my second 5200 that I put in my old room aka studio annex
and I noticed that one controller erased had gold contacts
the other had silver
they both work fully now after the erasing but I will say the one with the silver contacts
works better which seemed odd to me because I thought gold contacts would be better
Anyway
I was playing Pole Position and some other carts last night with these newly fixed controllers
and plan to fix the other joysticks I have and if I find out 4 jays meerly erased my contacts
they will be hearing from me
Anyway
everyone who does not want to pay to have your controllers rebuilt
or do the rev9 ting this has been working for me
I will let you know if there are any problems
Anyone know of any with this method?
-
Damn really
why is this so complex
isn't there someway to get the actual 5200 controller to be infared?
it has the start and pause button on it
Sorry I am infamous for coming up with ideas that are to complex for me to execute myself
but thats what you geniuses are for
My question is has anyone attempted this for the 5200 in the past?
-
Well this isn't the best solution but you could get a couple of extention cables. The ones for the old-style PC controllers work.
Allan
extension cables are still a cable
but I have never seen those can you post a pic?
With all our technological advancements we have to be able to make a wireless controller for the 5200
even if only 10 people will use them
I have a infared ps2 controller set
and a few broken 5200 controllers
Now how do I put it together to make the illest 5200 wireless controller?
Someone has got to run with this idea
its our duty and 5200 lovers
would infrared be ok?
you need to buy a wireless pc gamepad (not usb)and use the pc to 5200 adapter
like if one were so inclined they would buy this
eBay Auction -- Item Number: 360199720687
and make an 5200 adapter or find someone selling one
too bad i didn't jump on these but i have a few gampads already
eBay Auction -- Item Number: 270518636754
although my experiences with wireless controllers (2600 rf) and a nes infra red) they just aren't that great

I just put my second 5200 to work in my studio annex. This is basically my old bedroom where my recording studio used to be and now I have turned this room into a video transfer video production room and a art studio.I plan to get a monitor to go in this rack and I would like to have one of those monitors that you can hook up 3 vcrs to and have the 4 screen split like on a security TV anyone know about those monitors?
The 4th slot I want to put the 5200 through and what would look really great would be a wireless controller due to the fact that I have the 5200 on the top of the rack
I plan to have a multicart here and just keep my main 5200 and collection in the real studio.Just incase I am drawing or making a video here and really need to play 5200

Anyone ever make a wireless controller? Will someone please make one

To make it clear, I believe the problem is that you tried to DLDI patch something you don't have to.
Also, make sure your card is formatted standard FAT and not NTFS or even *sigh* FAT32, or else Stella can;t figure out how to process it.
Again, you're wasting your time trying, though.
Ok how about on the PSP
I just ordered one homebrew ready?
-
I got it installed on my flash card
I am using itouch ds card micro sd all that jazz
It has up to date firmware and the stella program opens
and says it see's 2 roms but they do not display and underneath that is says null
I am trying to run the synthcart rom and a game but they are not showing up
I am totally lost what I am supposed to do with the DIDL thingy and the other thingy
but they are all on the card
What am I doing wrong ?

That A/B switch has coaxial connectors, so just a piece of coaxial wire would work to hook it to the TV set. They used to call this a VCR wire. You'd need an adapter to attach the Atari to it, though.
As for LCD tv, yes, it's perfectly safe as long as everything else seems to work okay. Expect to have to tweak your tv so that it sees the Atari and puts a nice picture on the screen.
Just an adapter for the 2600 though right? The 5200 already has the right wire

What you need to do is mod those consoles to output s-video.
Chris
I dunno
I do not mind them being RF
I do not want to go and mess with them I am sure it is an easy mod that I am capable of doing but
something about keeping the consoles as the are is just the collector instinct

Hey
I would like to know what is the best solution
I have 3 rf consoles Atari 2600 Atari 5200 Colecovision
and 5 S Video consoles NES Dreamcast PS2 Gamecube and Sega Genesis
Use one of these on the 2600 (and the 5200 if it's 2-port):

Use one of these on the CV:

Switch them to the TV's antenna input with a cable A/B switch, or two if you have a 4-port 5200 (I can't find any switches with 3 or more ports, maybe they exist):
If the 5200 is 4-port, rig it inline on the RF.
Run the NES and Genesis (Genesis only supports composite and RGB) through a switch box to the TV's composite input.
For the rest, get the appropriate S-video cable and run them through a switch box to the TV's S-video input.
OK
so I am in the process of taking your advice
but I have questions
I have a 4 port 5200 and it has that annoying rf thingy
I have a Colecovision
I have a 2600
and a Genesis
I would like to be able to switch between all that
On the switcher you show there is only A B
so your advice is to hook up the 5200 to A then daisy chain the 2600 to the weird 5200 rf box thingy
Then hook the Colecovision into B
Is that correct ?
The Genesis I am not sure how that works that special cable they sell
where does that hook in?
I need one s video 4 port switcher
to hook up my
NES
Dreamcast
PS2
Gsmecube
so where is the Genesis going?
Thanks for the help

http://www.gooddealgames.com/inventory/Atari%205200.html
are all these 5200 carts really available? I thought they were super rare?
I am really interested in the music tracker cart
I know someone mentioned this to me on here but how come no one mentioned all these other carts?
Can we have a full list of all homebrew and ports for the 5200
Also if I buy the Atarimax flash cart are all these available as roms?
-
I want to buy the cvdrum cart and the 2600 synth cart
where can I do that?
-
Hey
I would like to know what is the best solution
I have 3 rf consoles Atari 2600 Atari 5200 Colecovision
and 5 S Video consoles NES Dreamcast PS2 Gamecube and Sega Genesis
I currently get a lot of static chaning RF Boxes to one another
IE: 5200 RF to TV Coleco into extention
Is there a multi RF Swticher that would expand the RF in's of my TV?
I HAVE 3 S video ins on my Tv but I would like to make one in be a multi with a switcher hooked up to it
Any suggestions for the best ones with the best picture ? RF Switcher included
Also please do not tell me to get a better TV
I am kind of attached to my Toshiba blackstripe
its perfect for classic gaming
Thanks

So just last week
I look on Craigslist for 5200 carts and come across a guy in CT selling 9 common carts
but I do not have many carts for the 5200 and I really wanted Pole Position and Pac Man
and he only wanted 15 bucks for all the carts I figured I'd go get them.Little did I know that it was going to be a blizzard in CT that night
In NY it was a clear night. So off I go through the snow to this guys house He had some records and some colecovision carts too so I looked through those to try and make the long trip make more sense.I walked away with about 9 coleco carts too and a few 45's and Issac Hayes's Black Moses LP.On the way out his driveway the snow was so thick that I had to slide down the hill and go back to the highway an alternate route. Then I got lost and ended up an extra hour away from NYC needless to say I should have had him mail me the carts. However the retro game digging gods must have been looking out for me and offered up some good karma the next 3 days after this trip.I was telling a friend about my quest for atari 5200 games and he passed this info along to one of his friends who had a system way back when and was touched to hear that someone else had love for the 5200.He had long sold his system but still had some games and wanted to just give them to me.I show up to meet him and he had a bag full of colecovision carts which he thought I might also like being that I mentioned I had one of those too. Then He handed me a 5200 multi cart with 82 games on it.I believe this is a sean kelly cart check out the pictures.I am having a blast playing all these games I wondered about there are not all the updated homebrews on this multi but its got the basic goods.I also re arranged my game shelf to accomidate the new additions to the library.
Now all I have to do is clean my Colecovision with metal glow so the system works perfect and get two working genesis controllers and buy that cvdrum cart

I have an Atari800 emu that I play 5200 roms on on the PSP but on the DS I do not have anything that plays 5200 roms. Anyone know of any ? Also I have a 2600 emu on my PSP because I was trying to play the synthcart but it does not work
