  1. It's not listed but I'd have to go with the first model of 6-button controller for the Genesis. That controller is absolutely perfect. My runners up would be: -Wii classic controller pro -Original NES gamepad -The Game Boy controller for the SF/SNES
  2. Yeah, it's pretty random but there are some good looking Activision labels out there. My Ice Hockey, Kaboom, Stampede, and Skiing carts have pristine labels, but the rest I have of that style all have the characteristic actiplaque. It's one of those things where I've always got a stray eye out for a good label upgrade if I'm someplace that has 2600 cartridges for sale.
  3. Nice video but it's sad that Beamrider doesn't even get a mention. It should be number one by a longshot I'm glad the Activision Anthology got a mention. Although I've noticed on the Game Boy Advance version that many of the games are way easier than the original 2600 carts. Chopper Command and Beamrider immediately spring to mind. I'm not sure why. I think they might be slowed down a bit or something. I haven't yet had a chance to try the home console versions. For future videos I'd love to see some top 10s of the Atari 1st party releases, perhaps limited to silver label releases, red label releases, or pre-silver label releases.
  4. I had to go with Imagic, although M Network is an extremely close 2nd.
  5. It's so funny how you have to plant your feet down on it, instead of them making a sufficiently wide base from the get-go. That kind of defeats it's entire purpose.
  6. This was the first good game I had for the NES as a kid aside from Super Mario Bros so I played the hell out of it. I even remember beating it once or twice upon saving the mermaid. I've heard people refer to it as a poor man's Metroid and I think that's pretty fair. I'll always have a stronger sense of nostalgia for Goonies II as I didn't have access to Metroid when I was young. Good luck crossing the bridge with your boomerang still in inventory, and don't attack Konami Man.
  7. For what it's worth I really like the controller design.
  8. The 2600 version must have left quite the good impression. Now he's gone on to review the arcade Juno First. http://youtu.be/p3lBOPaNyK8
  9. The Pioneer LaserActive can be redeemed for its ability to play Genesis, Sega CD, TurboGrafx, and Turbo CD games. But you're right, the actual laserdisc games themselves are nothing special. Pretty much crosshair shooters, fmv games, and point-and-clicks.
  10. I've opened a few sealed 2600 games now that have had some green oxidation on the contacts which prevents them from working. Luckily all it's taken to fix them is a little 91% rubbing alcohol, q-tips, and some aggression. Depending on where the games come from they can develop a corrosive atmosphere even within the box. Be especially cautious with the first party red label 2600 games. Much of the NOS is coming from very humid areas of South America.
  11. The usual suspects listed in the OP are just the worst of what most of the population could possibly have heard of. Most of them are more guilty of being bad business decisions versus inherently bad game systems. If you go to any retro gaming enthusiast and have them think of what they consider truly the worst, the list tends to look more like: RCA Studio II Hyperscan Game.com R Zone CDi Gizmondo Game Wizard ...and so on. At some level of suckitude it really does get tough defend these things.
  12. Lol at the Tetris screen at 2:28. I wish the contrast dial on mine could work those miracles.
  13. All extremely common and very fun: Defender Galaxian Berzerk Missile Command Yars' Revenge Pitfall Kaboom Frogger Super Breakout Midnight Magic Lock n Chase Centipede Joust
  14. Is it wrong to say that my favorite is Godzilla for the Game Boy? While it stars him, the game isn't Godzilla-like whatsoever. It's tons of fun though.
  15. These were the first that I could come up with right away. Galaxian Beamrider Juno First Lock n Chase Solar Fox
  16. Neither of these have aged well IMO. I used to love them both but these days they both hold up terribly.
  17. The Fatal Frame series is an absolute favorite of mine around Halloween.
  18. Another heavy-hitter these days is Dance Dance Revolution. That game has been everywhere now for quite some time. It's always in the open and a center of attention too. Even if everybody doesn't know it by name, almost everybody can picture "that dancing game".
  19. I'd consider Mortal Kombat pretty high up on the list too. It got a ton of press coverage back in the day for the blood and violence. It also made an impact with the movies/shows, as well as music.
  20. Shhhh, we don't want the prices on older systems to go completely insane like the NES. Let them be dismissed.
  21. I love the jump, running, and death sound effects in Dragonfire.
  22. The Ax family is selling some of the elusive Atarivox+ units. I figured it would be worth posting it here, I've been waiting for one of these for what feels like forever. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D370899529446
  23. Bought an Everdrive 64 from him. It got to me super-fast, very happy!
  24. I've always liked the Super Star Wars series. There's also good beat-em-ups on the SNES like Turtles in Time, the Final Fight series, Batman Returns, etc. Super Punch-Out is great if you liked the original at all. Other favorites of mine are Earthworm Jim and Sunset Riders.
