Im just going to get into this emulaton thing with Alterra and WIn800, How do we use Atari Joysticks/Trackballs into a modern PC considering all we have now is USB for IO ports

Its a labour of love to take images, Ive had my Atari for 30 years + , so im a bit nostalgic to ensure all my floppies are imaged, Ive attached an excel file with the first 1000 or so cataloged 8 Bit Software 15-01-2014.XLS

Okay guys Im about to start ATR imaging all my 1500+ 5.25" floppies (12 months too late) and would appreciate some advise 1. My 1050s have been in storage 20 years, what do I do to give them a good service before using them? 2. I have a SIO2PC/10502PC adapter so will take the image direct from the floppy, whats the best software to take the ATR image with (some disks have CRC protection on them) APE, etc? 3. Could I use Alterra to check if the image is good? or should I use another emulator or SIO back to a real Atari to check? 4. If any floppies do not read a good image, anything out there to repair them? 5. Is ATR the only image format supported for full disk images or is there another one and if so what software do I use Any help would be nice as although Ive got lots of new toys for my Ataris, ive yet to try any of them in anger Regards
