  1. That covers a lot of it. Someone could probably update the RTO firmware to have on-screen display. The Backbit requires an adapter, but can be used for a wide variety of consoles.
  2. Quick update... I've ordered a bunch of the longer lead-time and cheaper components. I've requested quotes for a batch of boards, in two different quantities. I'll order those within a day or two. Label redesigned, with end portion rotated 180 degrees, and text that states "RTO Intellivision multicart / 5-11under version / based on the aotta original". As mentioned at the start, upon product release, the source code will be released, being a fork of aotta's open source work. I found my old test box (about 7x5.5x1), and it's held up well over the past year (ignore all the large and small scratches - that was my doing, on some old and bad sample material). Ignore the"Blix 2017" info - that's old. I need to design an insert for it, but I've got the basic plans for that already.
  3. Some would say funny, some would not. Mostly, though, it seems to be confusing people. The other thread is more general. Alternately, you could create your own thread, and post pictures, links, etc. of versions made by all sorts of people.
  4. Mine will be maximum $85 USD for the cartridge, and maximum $15 for the box/manual. Pictures of my cart are here: https://forums.atariage.com/topic/348005-rto-my-production-take-on-the-multicart/?do=findComment&comment=5251560 Internals (slightly outdated) are here: https://forums.atariage.com/topic/348005-rto-my-production-take-on-the-multicart/?do=findComment&comment=522341
  5. Please make a new thread for this, or post it in the other RTO thread. This is confusing people.
  6. I keep forgetting that people love their boxes... I do need to design a box for an Intellivision game anyway, so I guess I could make a box for this, too. The box will look sort of like a classic Intellivision box, with construction similar to a Parker Bros. box. They will be printed locally and assembled by me. At the same time, there will be a manual, likely a single sheet folded once, to make a 4 page manual. I think that will suffice... I'll add more pages if required, but it's not like we need too many pretty pictures to show gameplay and backstory. All cutting, folding, and assembly of the boxes will be done by me, but they will look as good as pretty much anything else, and the box will be strong. The loose cart is planned to be introduced at $85 USD. That might also include a manual (or will be a download), except that the manual is more complicated to mail. The box (with manual of course) will be extra. I don't know how much yet. I feel confident that the maximum would be $15 USD. I'll have these ready for sale at the same time as the cartridge.
  7. Details to follow, but I'm still hoping for $85 max for the initial offering. Not sure exactly, but maybe $15 more later on.
  8. Update: Dang... it's been pretty much a month since the last update. In that time, I did a board spin, to use smaller components. It's been tested, and works well. I'm going to order a batch of proper boards on Monday, and when they're completed assembly, I'll open up pre-orders. That'll be in a few weeks. In the meantime, I'll be making sure everything else is ready to go. I'm not sure if I mentioned, but the labels also need to be reprinted... the end portion needs to be upside-down (or I've got it upside down).
  9. It's a multicart... add pretty much as many bin+cfg files as you want. Menu selection is done via the cartridge.
  10. Pitfall 2600? (mind blown) Pitfall 90125? Pitfall 90210?
  11. Rev, as you know, I'll be there. I'm hoping to have a new game available, and maybe some odds and ends for sale. Details at PRGE.
  12. I'll be there! First time ever. Hoping to have a game to sell in Rev's great Intellivisionland to help pay for the trip, and looking forward to meeting fellow AAers.

With continous pings for new replies, it's getting very hard to ignore this status update about ignoring a thread about Barbie.

Everybody please stop replying to this topic! Don’t be like those dummies who reply to the mass emails at the office telling everyone to stop replying!

yeah the trailer gives off a way different vibe from the film. intentional I'm sure. it was still a fun movie but it got heavyhanded at times

  14. Update: I finally found some time to add a delay configuration file, to make it easier to change the bus timing. As mentioned, it's easy enough to update the entire code, so there's plenty of options. My next steps are to finalize the part sourcing, order gold boards, and open up pre-orders (because the Teensy board inside is expensive). Details to follow.
  15. I think you need to do what's right or best for you. Edit: removed remainder of discussion.
  16. I think you've got at least some answers to your question. I haven't collected the results, but it looks like a number definitely are buying $20 ROMs. Most, it seems, though, prefer the $5 to $10 range, and of course some will only "buy" if it's free, or nearly free. Personally, I don't play games too much, compared to many here, so I haven't seen a case where spending $20 on a ROM would be of value to me.
  17. A lot will depend on the chosen suppliers and methods, but typically... the box is one item that requires printing in a relatively large batch. Next would be the manual and overlays if applicable (as mentioned, depends on supplier, though). Items such as board, shell, and label can usually be "made" one (or several) at a time fairly easily. In most cases it would be easy enough to have an initial fixed quantity CIB run followed by on-demand loose games. Of course many people love boxes as much as the game, so that puts the wrinkle back.
  18. My bad... counting the digits wrong. No commas when using my browser to do math.
  19. If your main goal is maximize dollar input, you're likely better off creating something else besides videogames for old systems. If your goal is to have fun and make a handful or so dollars for each of about 20-200 games, then maybe this is for you. You could increase the dollars or quantities via physical product, game type/quality, and/or system selection.
  20. You're overpaying... it's pennies, not dollars. Edit: D'oh... my bad... error counting the digits.
  21. Gotta get the Moms 2.0 in here... bring that number up to 3 billion.
  22. ADAR looks like it's hitting 4V... are you using a 3.3V or 3.6V regulator to power the CPLD, or is the 4V peak just a spike?
  23. "Eye Spy" (DZ beat me to it) sounds good. Otherwise: My Little Eye With My Little Eye Operation: Detection Discovery Detective Quick Find Operation: Quick Find Search and Rescue Operation: Search and Rescue Find 'n' Win Search 'n' Find Search 'n' Win
  24. This version uses a Coleco shell (Coleco made a few games for the Intellivision), as shown here: https://forums.atariage.com/topic/348005-rto-my-production-take-on-the-multicart/?do=findComment&comment=5251560 It's not ready for sale yet, but thanks to the timing file idea from Tissemon, it's a step closer.
