1. I see a lot of Beige "Colecovision" controllers around. Are these all from Adam computers, or were some supplied with Colecovision game consoles? Thanks, 5-11under

IC question

A lot better than most of the other posters... . I used to participate more there, but got tired of answering a lot of simple questions. Takes too much patience even for me, I guess. I just lurk now for fun, but am also waiting for some Flashback 2 designs. 5-11under
3. To each his own, I think it's a lot of fun. I actually prefer it to Space Invaders which I think would be the obvious comparison even though the gameplay is different. 869092 I agree, this is one arcade game I had access to when I was younger, and I remember pumping a ton of quarters into it. It gets hard pretty quickly, and can be a challenge to stay alive after a few waves of motherships. When Scott originally told me he was working on a version of Astro Invader for the CV, my initial reaction was, "Hmmm, that sounds vaguely familiar". Then when I looked on KLOV.com and saw what game it was, my reaction was, "Hot damn!" And Scott did a great job of porting it to the ColecoVision! ..Al 869130 Agreed. I've had a chance to play the CV version, and it's a great game. Try it in MAME, if you haven't already. 5-11under
4. My friend made a tutorial about this. http://doc.kaotic.ca/batterychanging.html Enjoy 5-11under
5. There's always this: http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=35400 5-11under
6. Thanks (...apologizing for adding any fuel to the fire). I'm looking forward to being able to buy a new joystick or two, and running games from a floppy drive would be pretty convenient. 5-11under
7. Well, right and wrong. The surface mount version will have USB, the through hole design is normal RS232. Sorry, but there is no way I know of to get USB support with through hole components. About the programmer, the one mentioned above does work, I use a very similar version. The good news is that it really doesnt matter. CPLD programming is taken care of for you, so dont fret. Update coming soon, I have the boards in. Vern Decisions, decisions. USB would be more fun, I think. Anyway, thanks for the update. I'm looking forward to seeing the USB schematic/information. 5-11under
8. BTW, according to the first post, Delicon is using a USB port. 5-11under
9. Oops. I guess I third that. 5-11under
10. I prefer the stick/d-pad right, button(s) left arrangement too. This seems to make more sense to me since most of us are right handed and directional controls are the primary controls in most games, which leads me to wonder why it got turned around, and why "backwards" has become the standard. Anyway, Ben has made ONE unit with the controls the right way around, the VCSp Gold, found about halfway down this page: http://benheck.com/Games/VCSp%20Models.htm So, I'm sure if you were to buy a custom unit from him he would be glad to build it any way you want, for the right price. I second that. 5-11under

Pic asm

The question is whether the PIC will be fast enough to do the bank switching, which is typically done with discrete logic (or fpga, which should be the same). I think there's an old thread about someone who tried this method, and failed. I'm not saying it can't be done, though... . 5-11under
12. This looks like a great little project. I'm looking forward to seeing the results. Fingers crossed, 5-11under
13. Nope. I come up with four "heavy sixer" auctions - two are for Atari models and two Sears. The Sears models are heavy sixers but the Atari models are definitely not - one's even a four-switch! I posted about this a couple weeks ago, people advertising non-heavies as heavies on ebay. One of the two Atari auctions is clearly being run by a scam artist (he calls his system "heavy sixer style", so he's obviously got some shady wording) and the other is just being run by a moron. He's got a big huge picture of the system and it is most obviously a four-switch system and twice he calls it a six-switch. I guess the guy doesn't know how to count. I don't know if it's easier to come by Sears models but maybe it is. Ataris don't seem to come up that often. I have a Sears myself and didn't pay that much for it. They all have six switches (somewhere or other), though, don't they, and they're all kind of heavy (in various degrees). Hopefully the buyers are aware of what they're getting (or not getting). 5-11under
14. Where would I have found out about this product before yesterday? 5-11under
15. Do you hear sounds if you try to start a game? If yes, maybe the display has gone bad. 5-11under
16. Just curious, Did you actually have to change anything in the cartridge itself for this too work? In an ideal world, I'm guessing the only change is in the PC software. Thanks, 5-11under
17. Do you have one, minorleagueguy? You'll have to bring it to the next Mississauga, Ontario show, I think. 5-11under
18. Albert, Kroko, Any Idea when a winner will be chosen? Thanks, 5-11under
19. Or the street price? 5-11under
20. Do you mean software hooks, or hardware hook-ups? Either way, thanks for the info. It sounds very exciting. 5-11under
