  1. Well looks like I was way off. I did some poking around, and it looks like getting a replacement LCD glass made isn't as expensive as I thought. Looks like $10 per LCD would cover it if 200-300 people bought one. I have a contact that can get this done. These would be modern LCDs with HTN material.

Kev, is this something you would like to pursue, or would you prefer someone else, like me, to get these made (and sold at very reasonable price)?

I've worked on a microcontroller-based replacement for the whole main board (still a few bugs, I think related to voltage translation), but that would be an expensive luxury item that few would be interested in. The replacement method would be much cheaper, and would be fairly easy for anyone to buy and install themselves.

  2. for some ancient unwritten rule in this community.

There's no unwritten rule. Some of Opcode's games are available for free, some of Collectorvision's, quite a few of Team Pixelboy's, probably all or most of Daniel's, not many of Pkk's (I think). For anyone else who has published games, same thing - some are available, and some aren't. Mine are available. ;) There's also a few (or at least there was) that are available for sale (Daniel, Nanochess).

  3.

That's funny I thought everyone used "View New Content" to read the forums. I can't imagine visiting every subforum to check for new messages.

I use view new content, and leave it wide open so everything shows up. You never know when something interesting might happen in another section besides your favorite(s).

  4. This is what Chris proposed to CollectorVision

Paying $1 (to Coleco Holdings) per copy sold for using the Colecovision logo

The ''only'' requirement was the game need to be an original game or a game we obtained liscence for

If there was a "value add" such as potential tie-in with other Coleco products such as handhelds/flashbacks/mini-arcades, emulators for new-gen consoles, etc., it might have been worth it. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any value in this... and as of now, it's negative value. ;)

  5. I could say a lot more, but here's the bare essentials:

Chris C., you seem very unprofessional to me. I would have loved to do some business with Coleco (games, hardware, whatever), but that will never happen, unfortunately.

You say you want to work this out, but you haven't done anything about actually doing that, that I've seen. Talk is cheap.

There's a reason we don't want anything to do with Fred, and it's not just because he made some bootlegs and profited from other people's work. Apparently you haven't seen it yet. Best of luck with that ;), and goodbye.

    ColecoTM is dead to me.

  6. Oh yeah! I remember those desserts! :D

Well, given that Opcode is releasing a sort of Super ColecoVision, and CollectorVision is releasing something else that is pretty cool but excludes SGM support, your angle could (and should) simply be a "vanilla" CV board that includes the expansion port so we can plug in our SGMs. I don't really care if it doesn't offer any extra bells and whistles aside from VGA output, in fact I would appreciate a board that's not a big hit on the ol' wallet. :)

I think Dale's dessert fed a family of three. ;)

Good point on the CV+. There's three fairly different units on the horizon, which is all good. Maybe mine is the bare bones version (mostly), Bmack/Collectorvision's is the FPGA version that supports MSX and more, and Eduardo's is the "next generation" CV.
