I'm hoping to crash again.

I checked out GameGavel a few years ago or so, to see if I should start selling/auctioning there. There were virtually no auctions going on.
Therefore, I think the first thing you need is customers (buyers and sellers). I wouldn't worry too much about the lifetime memberships - If it was me, I'd probably give them 2-3 year free memberships, and maybe after that start charging them (probably still at a lower rate? - I don't know the full rate structure, but I'd make sure they're happy).
Without customers, the site is useless, so might as well get the ball started with some good deals. Don't try to make money during the first 2-3 years, just build up the base.
/just my opinion.

Setting the last two pages of interesting discussion aside (I feel like someone should start a separate thread for this) let's not lose sight of something:
Coleco is using materials provided by a known software pirate, someone who has admitted to trying to stir up problems with the ColecoVision Homebrew community and has been banned from not only AtariAge but just about every other RetroGaming community online for his destructive behavior. Coleco is using his words as a defense against someone who is absolutely showing support to the Homebrew community and arguably had given more exposure to the ColecoVision than Coleco themselves!
Take a look again at the image that was posted:
That's clearly a screen shot of the take-down notice from Facebook that Juice received. Look where it says "card" under "7 messages." If I had to guess card is probably short for "Cardillo" which means he is communicating directly with Juice or someone who has direct contact with him.
While this may be speculation, it seems to be pretty clear. I don't know about the rest of you but I cannot give a single penny to someone who is in communication with someone like Juice or would even consider using material from him as a vehicle for defense in this scenario.
Juice and Cardillo, eh?
Birds of a feather, fock together.

Quick update: I'm working on a batch of these. Spent a fair bit of the day working on the shells... removing labels and cutting the holes for the DIP switches. PCBs have also arrived... hoping to assemble later this week.

This post seems to summarize the problem/solution well ... if the naughty-game-developers don't use the ColecoVision logo, and clearly mark their compatible-but-unauthorized stuff as not affiliated with past, present, or future "ColecoTM," seems like everyone should be happy. Right?
Simple as that! /really

DearTo Coleco/cardo1,It would be good to know what you deem to be acceptable or not acceptable with regard to usage of the word and typeface and logo and BIOS and software and anything else related to "Coleco" and "ColecoVision", and the rules you expect to be followed when using these. Backing this information up with legal documents would be helpful, if not essential. Then we can each decide if your rules are valid, legal, and therefore worth following. Lay it out clearly for the benefit of all of us (and you). Until then, it's business as usual, as far as I'm concerned.
/for everyone, as an aside, with Facebook, there's not too much anyone can do, unless your last name starts with "Zucker" - it's a walled garden where you don't have much control.

Yeah, let's get back on topic... speculating on the hardware of the Coleco Chameleon... .

An 8K TV might be overkill for displaying 8 bit games.

Looks like some nice games there.

SGM only adds RAM and audio - it will work fine.
-
8 bit vs. 16 bit war? If there was a loser, it would be both.
-
Many of us have a Pavlovian (dogs') reaction upon seeing boards of that shape.
-
Is the idea to build an arcade type platform while still supporting Colecovision carts?
64 bit ColecoVision.

One way or another, that Atari Jaguar mold is going to be put to good use!
It was put to good use at least once...
... for the dental camera.

/joke; apologies to all Jaguar fans

Quick update: Big delay here, after running out of boards last year... anyway, I've updated the board layout, and have tested it. I should have a new batch of boards in hand within a couple of weeks. I also have a couple dozen shells on the way, so in a few weeks or so I should have plenty of multicarts available. If you've sent me a PM anytime over the last number of months, I'll reply when the carts are ready.

So 9 candles a few years ago, and 10 candles this year. Luc ages slowly, doesn't he?
-
IF YOU HAVE ANY GAMES WITHOUT BOXES, I'LL BUY ANY AND ALL FOR $10 US EACH. I JUST NEED THE SHELLS TO CONVERT TO MULTICARTS! THANK YOU!

Where I found mine: http://blog.modernmechanix.com/home-computers-must-liquidate-at-far-below-dealer-cost/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ModernMechanix+(Modern+Mechanix), although I sold it about 10 years ago.
The Vice Versa game (Othello) is impressive.

Got links?

It is just retro promiscuity.
You say it like it's a bad thing.

What's the test cartridge worth?

Wow! At last I've programmed a Game of the Year

Bonus points if you can get it to fit within 1K.

I'll have to remember to save some room for the big desserts they had.
I read an article about difficulties with large projects that aren't on the front burner, so if you just want something simple, CV controller capability and VGA, I might have something available "relatively" soon.
