There is nothing fishy going on. I allow private bidding just because some people don't want to have their name shown to everyone. It's probably the case that the other guy is thinking that something fishy is going on because someone retracted their bid and then this person retracted their bid as well. It is true that you can retract a bid, but that is meant for mistakes, like you mistakenly put a zero to much on your amount. I think it's not a nice move by you, because it clearly made someone question the auction. But i am still happy to sell it to you and will not end the auction prematurely.

Put Boulder Dash 2600 up. I got it originally here on AtariAge, so possibly some people missed out on it and still want to have it. -

Two more games listed: Impossible Mission C64 Epyx Sealed Impossible Mission II C64 Epyx Sealed And yes, i put everything up with a starting price of 1$ or 1€. It's much more fun to see it go up and where it ends. It's also fun to put the games up slowly instead of all at the same time, you never know what is listed next. I try to have a mix of different genres and platforms up. -

I will also put up SSI gold boxes. The only one i am missing is Neverwinter Nights. You should be able to get most of them relatively cheap. Definitely under 50$. -

I do have some, but it wasn't a focus of my collection. From the top of my head Battle Isle series, Settlers Series, Unreal, Unreal Tournament, a sealed Diablo 2 LoD. Master of Orion 1 and 2, X-Com series. Also a lot of the older RPG's i have DOS versions of, for example Ultima 1 and Dragon Wars. -

How important is originality for collecting?
Thorium replied to Keatah's topic in Classic Console Discussion
While i am in the process as selling of my computer game collection it seems most collectors care a lot about originality. Now that's not surprising, however most collectors don't seem to care about the disks and cassettes still working, it's purely the visual condition they care about and the physical parts being original. I wouldn't be surprised if some hardware is worth more to some collectors if in not working condition, but all parts original. -

I wasn't expecting most of them to go _that_ high. Yes. Apparently they do. Haven't used the account in years. Just reactivated it for the collection sale. -

I don't know if someone from eBay reads this thread, but i just got a message telling me they tripled my seller limit. They probably fear on missing out on sales provision. ^^ -

First auction ended: Dungeon Campaing 1st release from 1978 for Apple 2 I probably hit the monthly eBay limit soon. I do sell outside of eBay, you can still contact me if you search early RPG's and Adventures. -

I get a lot of requests for more detailed photos of Akalabeth. For some reason i can't add more photos to the auction. I always get an error message, when trying to edit the listing. I did spoke with eBay support and they are looking into the problem. But since i can understand that more photos are needed to understand the condition of the items better, i did made more photos and i uploaded them to an image hoster: https://imgur.com/a/YgXQlTx The photos should give you a very clear understanding of the condition and authenticity of both the disk and manual. One thing i want to point out is, that you can see, there is another label underneath the one on the disk. It was common practice for California Pacific to reuse unsold disks and they just slapped another label on top after rewriting the disk. It's not at all a sign of not being authentic. If you want to know how i came into possession of this item, it's a pretty boring story: I got it from eBay. As i live in germany, it's practically impossible to find games from that time for apple 2 in the wild for me. I don't remember the date i won the auction, but it's between 10 and 12 years ago. It was part of a lot of apple 2 games and wasn't even listed in the auction. I noticed the manual in the picture of the lot, and sure enough, it was part of it. I am sure, i wasn't the only one who noticed, as the auction still got up to a high price. But still cheaper than ones i have seen go before. -

There is more upcomming from Synergistic Software. I don't want to put everything online at once, but piece by piece. My goal was to get at least one version of every RPG released from 1978 to 1982. And i came pretty close. So i have multiple variations and editions, especially of the Synergistic Software RPG's. But the Dungeon Campaign on auction right now, i believe to be the very first release from 1978 and this is the only copy i have ever seen on eBay and thats the one i got. I consider it one of the rarest in my collection and historicaly very interessting. Edit: I was also providing photos of Dungeon and Wilderness Campaign to the CRPG Addict, when he made his articles about the games, because he wasnt sure at the time if they ever had single releases or was only been sold as a bundle. All of this will be up for sale. -
I am starting to sell my collection and i thought maybe some people here are interessted. I stopped collecting a few years back and now it's just collecting dust and i could use the money for some investments. I specialized in early CRPG's, so i have a lot of rare games from the early days of computers. And this are the ones i am starting to sell now. I am located in germany and it is possible to pick them up in person or take a look at them before payment as some of this items can go for a high price. I am going to compile a list of what i got to sell in the next days. The items i consider "heavy hitters" will be put on eBay. Even if you are not interessted in buying, it may be interessting to see this items sold on eBay as some of them are very rare to be traded. I will put more up on eBay in the comming days and weeks. Akalabeth Dungeon Campaing 1st release from 1978 for Apple 2

Actualy the cheap converters do just fine. I have a 30€ HDMI converter and it handles all signals i input fine. I have 12 consoles and computers hooked up by using a LCD TV, a cheap HDMI converter and a composite and RGB switch. For some games you actualy should use composite to benefit from dithering. For example Pier Solar for Mega Drive looks much better with composite in my opinion. Sure you get artifacts, but you also get smooth shadows and gradients.

I do own a original Akalabeth. There are 3 editions sold by California Pacific. The one with the castle on the cover, the one with the demon on the cover and the progame edition. The one with the castle is much more valuable than the one with the demon and the progame edition is the least valuable. (not counting the original 12 copies) The castle edition goes for way over 1K. I think the highest price it ever sold for was 5200$. The edition i have is the demon edition with original disk and manual but without the cover sheet. I got it with a lot of other games for something between 900$ and 1000$, i dont remember the exact price. But there was been some other valuable games included like Ultima II 1st edition (with erata sheet). It's actualy not that rare of a game in comparision to other RPG's from that time (which i happen to collect). It's just the most valuable.

Once I had a packet lie around at the customs office for 2 month until they decided to inform me that i can come and pick it up.

Tell him to mark it as "Belegexemplare" or "Autorenexemplare". There should be no problems. It's easy to proof that you are a developer by showing them your ID. Germany only: Actualy you dont need to pay tax for gifts and you dont need to pay tax for items you bought from a private seller. eBay is special because the customs office will treat items from eBay allways als commercialy sold. You need to pay sometimes for gift marked items because they may not believe that it is a gift. For example if the sender is a business address.

Mine arrived safely in germany. Needed to pay additional tax but it is totaly worth it. Thanks for this great addition to the 2600 library.

I am sure they did a lot more on paper than today. You dont necessarily need a computer to write a program. You can even assemble it by hand, no compiler needed. I dont see why they didnt used the KIM in the early days. They probably wrote the whole program on paper and then feeded it to the KIM to burn the ROM.

Just to clarify it: Numbering has nothing to do with collectors value. It's some kind of fake protection. There can only be one of each number, so you can spot a fake much more easiely if you know who has what number or at least a part of them are known. Thats why low quantity runs are numbered.

It has nothing to do with the size of the display. The A/D converters of most TV's are not good and not made to convert signals from old consoles. In my experience a seperate converter does a much better job, even the cheap ones. For more information read this: http://retrogaming.hazard-city.de/
