  1. Went to a bunch of thrifts, as well as a game shop, funnily enough, that game shop has a logitech wireless xbox controller with no receiver thats been sitting around for quite a bit, happened to find a receiver at another shop. Now if only the game store wasn't asking as much for just that controller. After that I then found the ps2 version of that controller, which seems to be the best third party wireless controller I've seen, aside from maybe the xbox version . If you can't make out whats in the bag, its an eyetoy, and the plastic game cases are snes/genesis/n64 cases. Hopefully the numpad works with the logitech receiver I already have, I plan to use it as a soundboard.
  2. I think the linked thread is more of referring to the phenomenon you see when you look at the youtube comments of any song that is more than 10 years old.
  3. Went out to a place I normally don't go to to wait on a clothes store to figure they wanted to give me 90 cents for 1 t-shirt out of a bag of clothes. It's a "bargain hunt" type of place that gets a lot of rejected items from other stores like target and such. Got the games in the picture from there, not sure how they had the xbox era games, they even had a few ps1 games and a dreamcast game.
  4. Recently for a blog post I wanted to embed a twitch video like a youtube video, however the current bbcode setup does not support this, can this be added? example on another site: https://www.enjin.com/forums/m/10826/viewthread/18341987-twitch-bbcode-embed-for-video-streaming/post/last it uses this? https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=2156491 Note that twitch has both static videos like youtube (example: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/145666448)or a live video player ( https://player.twitch.tv/?channel=food )
  5. A short while ago I got a 1976 TI SR-51-II calculator from a thrift store, without the power supply that goes with it, which is important because the calculator uses its own proprietary NiCad battery pack, which has long been dead. While I partially got the calculator just for looks, it would be nice to actually be able to use it. The first youtube video that pops up when you search this calculator on google is someone modernizing this calculator by modifying it to use phone battery. The connector for the battery in the calculator is simply 2 pins for positive and 1 for negative, similar to plugs used for fans in desktop pcs of today. I also remembered I had a breadboard kit laying around from my first semester of college, with a power supply and wires that fit in the connector. All I needed to know was the voltage needed, the comments of the youtube video mentioned that the original battery output 2.4V, while the phone batteries used in the video output 3.7V. My power supply has a 3.3V output so I was good to go, no need to figure out any in between resistors as if it was a higher voltage supply. After connecting everything, and flipping the power switch, we have power! Video of the procedure is in this twitch highlight, if you are wondering why I say some of the commentary I do I am talking to my stream chatters. Also you will probably want to skip around a bit in it. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/145666448
  6. genesis usb adapters would also work for 2600 controllers, not sure if paddles work with them though
  7. Probably varies store to store, if they did that there where I live I probably wouldn't see half the stuff I see.
  8. Barnstorming cart and candy tins aren't from thrift stores (used media store chain) , and the snes games someone at goodwill decided to price check but sell at only half price. Probably gonna wind up selling chrono trigger as I really never like spending that much on games, hence why I go thrifting.
  9. Attempting to power on a TI SR-51-II I found on my twitch stream for a short bit: https://www.twitch.tv/firestarw/

    1. FireStar

      FireStar

already done, took way less time then I thought

  10. A bunch from a $5 a pop goodwill, usually try to avoid looking there but today was actually good
  11. Got these today, the NES games were from a goodwill that wants $5 dollars each for all games but I barely have anything NES so I said might as well. There were two other boxed NES games as well but they were sports as well and in worse condition/not complete.
  12. Not quite a thrift, aside from the controller, but a local shop had some clearance items
  13. Went out to a few thrifts today, the loose Genesis 1 was surprisingly in good condition for $10 and fortunately it shares cables with the master system I already own so I could test it. The xbox remote seems to not work though.
  14. rf generation is the collection database site I use, the android app is pretty helpful but you have to manually sync the app to the site, so if you forget to do that you might accidentally buy dupes. Their database probably has everything atari and if it doesn't, you can submit it yourself!
  15. Made a trip to various thrift stores around town Oddly enough one thrift store had a complete copy of General Chaos for $15, but nothing else was price checked. This isn't a thrift store, but I saw this a during the same trip at Best Buy (yes, today, in 2015)
  16. A local game store is doing a closing sale so I managed to snag the atari items at $1 each, the gameboy games with manuals were $5 all together at the 2nd and charles here.
  17. Funny, a 2nd and charles I go to had a lot of boxed Inty games a few months ago but it wasn't the same one as the one in your video. With my experience from the georgia ones, they are largely overpriced for most games (nintendo hype) but for pre-nes systems and handhelds they are nice, probably half of my 2600 collection is from them as they will price some games for only a dollar or two a piece, also got a few boxed 2600 games from them for $3 apiece yet they want $10 for some other boxed 2600 games, very inconsistent. If you sift through everything you might find something decent for under $4, and accessories tend not to be too overpriced. I looked at their game guides and they were somewhat overpriced as well. The way they lay out handheld games is so unappealing though. If you come early you might find some non-sports games in the freebies bin.
  18. Your issue with rescue mission is definitely the TV. I had the same issue trying to play it on my commodore monitor and had to use a CRT that the buttons didn't work right on to play it, it was worth the trouble though. Rescue mission has been the only light gun game I've ran into that would only play on certain CRTs.
  19. IIRC one of the pins for the buttons on a genesis is the ground pin on some consoles(Intellivision?) so some consoles might actually get fried with a genesis controller. (There is an image somewhere comparing the controller pinouts) The master system has a weirder controller pinout that fries even more things too. Have you checked to see if the atari joysticks will work on say, your genesis? Just put in a game you can play with just B.
  20. There is a more modern rogue-like that started as a GBA homebrew called POWDER. It played pretty good for consoles that have no keyboard.
  21. Not too excited about this (it looks like a rehashed DSi, not a fan of the DSi design) but they made a good improvement; Start and select are actually buttons now!
  22. Alternatively, use them as Decor, but not like this kind of decor: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/184207-really-ugly-use-of-atari-stuff/ Maybe put a few in a stack and put one of those 2600 joytsick candy tins on top.
  23. I couldn't find any BootOpera forwarders(which is what you'll need, you can put a url in the cfg of bootopera and it will go to it), but ModMii (http://gbatemp.net/t...-support-topic/) can help you make a forwarder wad, I've never done it before but Modmii is easy to use. Remember to download bootOpera from the homebrew browser. Edit: In only 3 minutes, I made a forwarder, but it's just a DOL. (https://sites.google...tarw/Youtube.7z) However, as long as your wife can remember, you could take a WAD forwarder for another app and just put the Dol I made in the folder the Forwarder normally looks for.(Such as putting in a folder named "USBloader" for a CFGusbloader forwarder, since those ones are the most common.) Don't forget you'll need a WAD manager and IOS236 and all that junk. Still a little too much though when Nintendo could have just supported the Wii more and made a Youtube channel...
  24. What I wanna know is if those back triggers are analog. I mean, sure, that would make it more of an XBOX rip-off, but the 360 got the idea for analog triggers from the GC pad anyways, though nintendo completely forgot about their own "innovation" for the wii's classic controller. I think the fact Nintendo's now the one ripping off instead of the one being ripped-off says somethings changing in gaming.
