sio2pc - like device for 68k Macs?
MoreBITS replied to BoatofCar's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
Do you have a SCSI Zip drive? I use a USB Zip drive on new Mac, and a SCSI on the plus to transfer files. Some of the power PC macs make great go between machines and can be had very cheap too. They will still write to 800k disks for your plus as we'll. -
I am in Norther Oakland county. You need a working 2000 to swap a chip on?

Awesome setup. You have a great collection of posters and marques. I like how you used two identical wall units for the consoles. What did you use for the computer desks? (where the A2000, IIGS, Mac Classic etc are) They look similar to what we had for work benches in Chemistry class. Roughly how big is the room? Is the TI hooked up to a VGA Dell monitor? I never thought I would say " I need more boxes "

I will take one as well, if you end up with a PSOne available I am interested in both. -
I am looking for a 64C keyboard, or parts computer. I am also interested in some game cartridges and floppies. Floppies can be blank, or games etc. Please email, PM, or reply if you have anything you are looking to get rid of or trade.

I am looking at an Amiga 2000 locally tomorrow. What is a fair price for a decent working system? It has some upgrades to video, processor, and sound. What would the computer itself be worth stock, and what should I check out before making the purchase? I have looked on eBay at completed auctions, but these just aren't common enough to use eBay as a reference. Thanks

Hi, I am going through a similar decision here myself, only I have an A500. In addition to an ST, I want to pick up an A1200, mainly so I can transfer files with compact flash. I am very interested in understanding why you find the process to be so cumbersome with the Amiga 1200

Thanks for the reply, a lot of the newer AC adapters automatically step up or down the incoming voltage. From what I have read the A1200 PS is really too weak for the system anyway, so I might use my A500, or modify an ATX power supply. I found this page that implies that the PAL thing is really just a setting that is adjustable. I have an old multi sync monitor from my A500, but I would like to use an LCD. http://amiga.nvg.org/amiga/amigafaq/AmigaFAQ_20.html Thanks for the feedback, it at least sounds like it isn't a terribly stupid idea

I already have everything else... 3 TI units, 70+ carts, joysticks, joystick adapter, all the various cables, 2 speech synthesizers... I'm all in pretty much, just would need the nanoPEB. As for emulation, I generally prefer to use and experience actual hardware. Emulation doesn't do much for me unless it's unreasonable to get the real hardware, or it's for certain systems that I just don't care enough about the real hardware to own, like Genesis, SNES. Otherwise... real hardware, the full experience for me! Thanks for the suggestion though. Do you need your second Speech Synthesizer, or would you sell it?

Hi everyone, I am looking to add another Amiga to my collection. I have an old A500 from childhood, but i have always wanted to have a hard drive with it. I am leaning towards an A1200, but all theAmigas seem to be scarce and expensive in the US. I have a family member coming in for the Holidays from Europe and could have one brought over. What challenges will I face having an Amiga from the UK or Germany? The outlet plug and keyboards are obviously different, and I assume it wont hook up to an NTSC TV without an adapter. Anything else? Any suggestions on what to look for as far as versions or features?

I am looking for a nice affordable Amiga computer. I am looking for a 1200 specifically, but will consider other models. A Minimig might also be a good fit. I have some newer tablet and phone stuff if someone wants to trade, I'm in the Norther Detroit area. Trade ideas include, Dell Streak 7, Nook Color Rooted with Market, Iphone 3GS, Motorola Droid, Blackberry Bold (VZW)

Great Tip on the monitor, should this also work with an old Apple, ie Apple IIGS? I've got my original A500 still, but I am not sure if I still have the monitor. It is from when I was a kid, it may be at my parents house, or they may have tossed it. I can always use another LCD on the desk!

Please message me if you have a nice working system or components for sale. I am not looking for mint collector quality, just something i can use with my young boys to learn and play games from my youth.
