New Atari ST/E Mega ST/E hard disk interface
Paul Westphal replied to masteries's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Ok - My Mega ST4 TOS 1.04 / 4gb Sandisk Class 4 transfer speed is 277 kb/s My 4 MB STe TOS 2.06 / 4gb Sandisk Class 4 transfer speed is 278. Most games run fine! This is without the firmware update from Feb 19th. I'm still waiting for the UART to USB converter. As it stands, DMA sound is working .. but with mixed results. Megablast intro music plays, but there is no ingame.. it just goes back to the menu. The " Signal's " Demo runs for a bit then starts to skip. I DID make it though the first song, once. The Bad Apple Demo played for a bit but bombed out after 40 seconds. Getting Bad Apple, Sea of Color, Talk Talk 2 and US Policy to all run, is my goal. I'll track down a quality 1gb card and see what I get. Thanks to all involved in this project, dirctly and indirectly. sig_ste.zip -

Hey MST - Have you tried using Jookie's driver with that device? He has a demo version we can try : It MAY yield faster transfer rate : http://joo.kie.sk/?page_id=266 Also - I have done some vids with this device on my YT channel : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAVWgxXEerFi51JI8SWDP5w I'm currently Waiting for my UART to USB. I'll do some further tests and vids with it ( and try Jookie's driver ) when it I update the firmware. Pretty cool product -

Ok guys. I got two of these coming. I sent $97.65 USD for two of them ( incuding a paypal fee of $4.65 ). He has already updated the firmware twice and sent out instructions on how to implement it. You wil also need one of these : https://www.ebay.com/itm/1PCS-5v-CH340G-Serial-Converter-USB-2-0-To-TTL-6PIN-Module-for-PRO-mini-K9/222436686027?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D3ff01dcfb603485fae6c88dbde483ec8%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D222436686027%26itm%3D222436686027%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DUnbranded&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A2dca5b84-723d-11eb-932e-96fa77c2a0d4|parentrq%3Ab7601bed1770a0f119b49628ffe3e68a|iid%3A1 -
This Atari 600xl has been upgraded to 64k. Video has not been upgraded. It is in EXCELLENT condition, as is the box. I have put it on the Official Atari 8 bit testing station and all the voltages are great (pic) and it passed all tests. The mylar Keyboard works 100%. The box has the original RF box and cable. I usually scrub and clean these, but this one needed no cleaning whatsoever. If you ever wanted a solid 600xl, this is it! I'm asking $120.00 + shipping from Portland, Oregon. PM me and I'll get a shipping quote from UPS. I take Paypal. Visit Eightbitfix.com for references. Thanks for looking - Ebay SUCKS

If the chips are socketed , try reseating them. Leave the lid off and let it run for a minute. Touch the main chips to see if they are hot or not. A really hot chip indicates a possible bad chip. Old school, but it works.

Cartridge port storage adapter for Ataris

Had there been any progress on this Peter? FYI I’m currently putting Orion’s STe jagpad sd card reader through it’s paces.. what it can and cannot do. -
You can tap it free.. I used a flathead screwdriver, small hammer and a little wd40. I think there was a screw on the side I put the screwdriver on and gently tapped it free. It’s worked ever since WITH a happy upgrade 😀

NOOB HELP - Orion's STe SD Card Setup
Paul Westphal replied to Paul Westphal's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I got it to work. What I had to do was : Make a new folder named AUTO. I put Bigdos on it first, then the SDcard driver. Wrote the folder to A: on my PC. I left the card at 2gb and just transfer the files over with the PC. Mixed results so far.. but pretty cool for $22. Loaded up! -
So I'm having trouble setting up Orion's STe Jagport A SD card reader. 2 GB SD card is formatted in FAT. I run the program off the floppy, and I get this : ( pic ) It will not see the file I put on there after I run the program. I only put one - Sea of Color Demo - on the SD card. I know I'm missing something.. I HAVE setup a Ultrasatan in the past.. but I'm having no luck. Any help is appreciated, or if you have an SD card image I could use..

Help me! I’m stuck! Atari 400 repair
Paul Westphal replied to Jonny swanny's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
It's either the GTIA, ANTIC, or PIA in that order. You can either buy a new CPU card, or just the chips. I'd buy a new CPU card, then take out the old chips out of the old CPU card and test them individually, then toss the bad one. Extra chips for the future! Eightbitfix.com -
I was down there helping him last year for a few weeks. Maybe you got one I did All jokes aside, He will replace it as he is an excellent Dude. Stuff happens and he is really busy these days.

Hi guys, This is a weird 800 I have dubbed " programmer " because the guy I got it from said the original owner was one, here in Portland OR. The sysinfo program says it has an axlon ram board, but I think it's custom, as you will see from the pics. Joe Decuir, Ben Heckendorn and Kevin Savetz have all had a look at this and some helped track down the OS version. The '7' button sticks. Normal programs cannot access the extra ram, but I think you can tweak the OS to see it ( it's on eeproms ). It has a reset button installed on the bottom left side. It passes all tests on my official Atari 8 bit testing station. Unit has been taken apart and completely cleaned. I'm asking $175 plus shipping. PM me for more info.
