That's not Jookie's driver. It's only presented on his site. And in case of DMA/ACSI adapters transfer rate actually does not depend from driver SW. It depends from DMA chip max speed (what is btw. not correctly given in Atari DOCs) + used adapter. For instance Jookie's first design Satandisk transfer rate is about 150 KB/sec, with same driver that can over 1 MB/sec on UltraSatan - and max rate depends from used SD card type too in case of UltraSatan - funnily I got best with 1 GB Kingston, and with newer, larger capacity ones it is about 900 KB/sec in most cases - and I use brand cards.

Since my transfer speed test program is shown here, just to add that will see some difference between Direct HW access speed and speed of Logical drives (partitions) . The reason for it is filesystem in TOS what adds some delays. And that is more in old TOS 1.00 and 1.02 than in 1.04 and later, for instance.

And with combined R/W tests you can see how much lower is transfer speed of small data chunks/files.

This is why we call you " The Great One " :)  Thanks for straightening that out, PLM.

  2. Hey MST - Have you tried using Jookie's driver with that device? He has a demo version we can try : It MAY yield faster transfer rate : http://joo.kie.sk/?page_id=266

Also - I have done some vids with this device on my YT channel : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAVWgxXEerFi51JI8SWDP5w

I'm currently Waiting for my UART to USB. I'll do some further tests and vids with it ( and try Jookie's driver ) when it I update the firmware.

    Pretty cool product

  3. This Atari 600xl has been upgraded to 64k. Video has not been upgraded. It is in EXCELLENT condition, as is the box. I have put it on the Official Atari 8 bit testing station and all the voltages are great (pic) and it passed all tests. The mylar Keyboard works 100%. The box has the original RF box and cable. I usually scrub and clean these, but this one needed no cleaning whatsoever. If you ever wanted a solid 600xl, this is it!

I'm asking $120.00 + shipping from Portland, Oregon. PM me and I'll get a shipping quote from UPS. I take Paypal.

  4. I got it to work. What I had to do was : Make a new folder named AUTO. I put Bigdos on it first, then the SDcard driver. Wrote the folder to A: on my PC. I left the card at 2gb and just transfer the files over with the PC. Mixed results so far..  but pretty cool for $22.

  5. So I'm having trouble setting up Orion's STe Jagport A SD card reader.

2 GB SD card is formatted in FAT.

I run the program off the floppy, and I get this : ( pic )

It will not see the file I put on there after I run the program. I only put one - Sea of Color Demo - on the SD card.

I know I'm missing something.. I HAVE setup a Ultrasatan in the past.. but I'm having no luck.

Any help is appreciated, or if you have an SD card image I could use..

Name change? I guess it's been awhile since I tuned into his podcast.

I met John and saw the computer you are talking about on a visit to FTE headquarters back in the 90's. It was completely new from the ground up with a custom motherboard and case. I believe it was made for cable TV information displays by the company that John was working with at the time. He had a multitude of custom fonts built into a custom 816 OS, and I believe some of those were comprised of multiple character maps to render a surprisingly detailed larger character. It was very nice.

Bruce has one of those cable TV machines in his warehouse.. right hand side, half way down towards the back, on the end of isle.

  8. Hi guys,

This is a weird 800 I have dubbed " programmer " because the guy I got it from said the original owner was one, here in Portland OR. The sysinfo program says it has an axlon ram board, but I think it's custom, as you will see from the pics. Joe Decuir, Ben Heckendorn and Kevin Savetz have all had a look at this and some helped track down the OS version. The '7' button sticks. Normal programs cannot access the extra ram, but I think you can tweak the OS to see it ( it's on eeproms ). It has a reset button installed on the bottom left side. It passes all tests on my official Atari 8 bit testing station. Unit has been taken apart and completely cleaned. I'm asking $175 plus shipping. PM me for more info.
