In the early 1980s, I had a little Basic under my belt and a dream of growing up to write games for the Atari 2600. I brought some allowance money to the local hometown pharmacy, and came home with office supplies for a company called CDS. (Hmm.....whatever happened to that smoke colored pencil holder?)
Well, that "venture" never quite panned out. When the Atari 2600 sank into obsolete status and my college friends got all into Nintendo, I completely gave up on that idea from childhood.
But I guess I was a little hasty, because thanks to this site, I can recapture a bit of that magic from all those years ago. Unfortunately I'm still kinda clueless when it comes to machine language, but with a little bit of hacking and code tweaking it's never been easier to bring old ideas and new ones to life, play them with my kids, and share them with people who loved that system as much as I did.
