Some more I pulled from that link: Fourth doctor (Destiny of the Daleks) Dalek: Seek! Locate! Exterminate! The Five Doctors: Dalek: Halt! At once! You will be exterminated! HALT! HALT!!! Dalek: It is the Doctor! The Doctor must be destroyed!!! Dalek: Obey! Obey the Daleks! You will be exterminated!!!

Lots of quotes in one place here: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/The_Daleks How about "Alert!" from Bad Wolf?

K9!!! Back in the day I went out for Halloween once as the Fourth Doctor. Made a pretty awesome cardboard K9 to hold candy. At each house the conversation went like this: "So who are you supposed to be?" "I'm the Doctor." "You don't look like a doctor!" LOL...wasn't so popular a show then. Ah, didn't realize about the color sliding. Well, hope the idea is useful. And I totally agree no need to reinvent everything from scratch....it's definitely a fun hack!

Wish this was out when I was a kid! The samples are fantastic. Maybe go with an overcoat and scarf look? And an upright sonic to look like less like a gun?
-
Yeah it seems so! It really looks great. Hmm...gray for the pants I think? I drew a series of TIA-style Doctors for a possible future Superman hack, if you're looking for color ideas. They are 16 pixels high though; the Berzerk guy looks...what...14?

Ha ha! Nice!! Love the rotating Dalek turrets. Fourth Doctorish? I'm going by the hat.

Hack of Coleco's Venture: Level 3 implememted!
CDS Games replied to batari's topic in Atari 2600 Hacks
Yeah that second 8k is a nice version. Nukey did the animations on those so no need to redo the wheel aside from a few tweaks. (the Intellivision Venture is animated and has about the same resolution as the Atari so it's a good model to work from.) Hm...so I guess next step is to add level 3 to that. -

Oh nice! Which version was that one exactly? I can go back and redo the animations. The other elements are over my head unfortunately. -

I'd be curious about that as well. I really need to get a Harmony Cart. If we have to ditch the animation, that would stink because it really does improve the game. Adding extra treasures seems such a subpar alternative. -
Hack of Coleco's Venture: Level 3 implememted!

Not sure. Maybe if they somehow they could replace the unused second level in banks 1 and 3? -
The ledge heights are not set up yet, so whatever vertical position you get off the elevator you will stay at. That's the next thing I'll be working on.

First experiments with batari's last version, with his awesome looking elevators. You can now ride them up and down. donkeykongBATelevators.bin But they blink out now. Not sure why.

Hack of Coleco's Venture: Level 3 implememted!
CDS Games replied to batari's topic in Atari 2600 Hacks
Another option for 32k would be to have the treasures change on levels 4-7. Here's a sample 16k version with new treasures: ` venture3newtreasures.bin Seems like a cheap but effective way to reward the player for making it to level 4 and beyond. Of course, it's another massive waste of memory to change a few bytes. -

Fantastic newsl!! I guess everything is looking good with the boards and labels?

Reading those links and watching game play and realizing how integral the different colors are to the game and map. Wow.
-
Hm tough coming up with a color scheme for this. The simplest way is to have the floor rows one color and everything between the floors a second color. One trick that may be worth looking into also is alternating the colors on each scan line. Then you can get effectively 2 different colored objects on the same horizontal, and if you're really clever in picking colors that blend you can actually have 3. (I had this trick on the C64 where I could stipple green and yellow on a multicolor character and they would blend almost seamlessly into a yellow-green that wasn't in the original palette). Alternating purple and white seems to give a nice effect for the fireplaces and ladders, since skipping alternate bits just looks like part of their proper texture anyway (rungs & bricks). Although admittedly it kinda looks goofy for solid objects. Here's a quick attempt on a sprite editor. That's supposed to be one of the switches (?) above the fireplace. With better color choices it should be less stripey.

Thanks Brian! Since I couldn't reproduce the arcade exactly I tried to come up with something that at least played like it. At the moment though, I put this version aside and am trying to make progress on batari's partially completed hack, as he implemented a great set of missile and ball elevators. That kills the hammer though so I'd need a separate bank for the conveyors.
-
If you're playing in Stella you can top up your lives as needed...just go into the debugger and A3 stores the number of lives--you can change it to whatever. Otherwise, I just got better at it by playing the 4k version. That just flips back and forth between the elevators and conveyors.
-
Using the hammer seems to have been the problem. This should fix the bug, although no more racking up points with it on the conveyor level. donkeykong4levels-2.bin

iesposta, is the learning curve too steep on this for a beginner to jump in and help you with speech strings? Do you need specialized equipment besides the AtariVox to USB? I have zero experience with the thing but I'd love to help out.
-
Um....wow! I've got an extra WoW for upgrading as well.
-
Yeah, I'm going to look into that. The sprites get all messed up and after a while the whole thing crashes.
-
That is an extremely powerful and useful tool, thanks for explaining it so clearly. Aha!!! I was wondering why you said STA above and then coded LDA! Will definitely check out Kevin's doc.
-
Ok so LDA $1FF9 at line F403...that single instruction is flipping the bank? Is that a dedicated "bankswitching hotspot" that will work everywhere, or did you set that up to be a hotspot with additional banking instructions elsewhere in the code? What is that address? 3 bytes to flip a bank....if that's the case, you ain't kidding about quick'n'dirty.
