It was in its predecessor, the Acorn Atom, as well.

That's possibly just a hiccup with the web server. Not necessarily indicative of a problem with your UDS-10 or the connection to it.
-
Yes, I purposely made the M key work with the last URL you typed, rather than the last link you selected. I'll think about implementing a short (~5 entry?) History list that includes both types of link.
-
Certainly possible. I'll add it to the list ...

Just uploaded an update to the program. http://www.avjd51.dsl.pipex.com/ti/ti.htm#internet_web_browser I've tested it pretty thoroughly on my TM990 system, but have done only minimal testing on the TI-99 version using Win994a. Changes are: -- When viewing a page, pressing the M key now redisplays the previously entered URL which you can edit. Saves typing the last URL out all again. -- Moved the workspace to 16-bit RAM, which should improve speed slightly. -- Added error trap for if host name is not valid (no DNS entry found for host name). Displays error message and the previously entered URL, which you can edit to correct a typo etc. -- Added error trap for it no web page name specified (no '/' in URL). Displays error message and the previously entered URL. -- Corrected problem with inconsistent screen scrolling. Sometimes it would scroll 3 lines, sometimes 5 lines, etc. -- Changed scrolling to jump 15 lines at a time. -- Corrected problem with links on parts of the page you have to scroll down to. BJGuillot - I tested it with your Sherlock Holmes pages and as far as I can see, it now works correctly. Enjoy. Let me know if there are any problems. Apart from the UDS-10 having to retry the connections, which I don't think I can do much about. Stuart.

Thanks for the comments BJ. In reply: The buffer for downloading a page is currently 10,000 bytes. If you exceed this, the program should show a "page truncated" message on the bottom line. #1. The program expects at least one "/" in the URL separating the host server name from the web page name. If you send a file path but not a file name (is that what you were doing?) then I think the program will request the page properly, so it depends on how your server responds. I think. Possibly. #2. I think you're right that there's a bug in handling links that aren't on the first page. Sometimes it seemed to work for me, sometimes it didn't. I'll look into it. #3. I think you're right (again) - it isn't scrolling far enough. I'll look at changing it to scroll one screen minus one line. #4. At the moment, the power switch is the only way to quit the program. I'll see if I can hook Fnctn-Quit in there somewhere. #5. Yes it is annoying. This seems to be an 'issue' with the UDS-10. Powering the UDS-10 off and on again sometimes helps, as Omega suggested above. #6. The way I sort of intended using it is to have <p></p> tags around each *paragraph*, and to have spaces at the end of each line as needed to achieve the required word wrap. [View the source on the PC for this file [http://www.avjd51.dsl.pipex.com/z_ti_test_2.htm] and you'll see what I mean.] For the large amount of text you're using, you might be able to knock up something quick on the PC that will split and format text into this format. Did have a think about doing line wrapping in the browser itself - maybe in the future. Glad you enjoyed it. Stuart.

I've got six PCBs available for my simple TMS9995 system, if they're of interest to anyone. £15.00 (£ UK) each plus postage to you. Full details of the system here: http://www.avjd51.dsl.pipex.com/tms9995_breadboard/tms9995_breadboard.htm. If you want, I can also supply the following for five of these boards: -- crystal, all capacitors and resistors, LED, all IC sockets, reset switch, D-type connector (expansion connector not included) - additional £6.50 -- ICs - 74LS138, 74LS32, 74LS04, MAX232CPE - additional £7.50 -- 62256 RAM - £2.00 -- programmed EPROM - system monitor plus either BASIC or Forth - £5.00 each (the EPROM images are available on my website above if you want to supply and program your own) Genuine, used but guaranteed-working-on-delivery TMS9995 processors are currently available on eBay UK for £13.00 plus postage. [http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/381142574634] (There are also some available for £11.50 - they look genuine from the photo, but there are no details about where they're from, or if the photo is of the actual item.) Cheap TMS9902 devices are available on Ebay from Chinese suppliers. These are almost certainly 'remanufactured' but I've got a couple of them and they seem to work OK. I can supply one of these that has been tested for a few hours for an additional £2.00. But no guarantee if it works for a week then breaks! You need to sort out your own power connector. Personally, I got a USB to 3.5mm DC power plug cable from Ebay, and use a matching connector on the PCB, as shown in the photo. If you're interested, send me a PM. Bare PCBs I can send off next week. If you're after some of the additional bits, I've already got most of them to hand, but may need a week to get together a couple of remaining bits. Stuart.

I once heard it said that the definition of a GB depends on whether you're buying or selling. Sort of true.

I've deleted your first link from the chat file - the one without the text between the tags. For your 'finger', put each line in <p></p> tags, rather than using the <br> tag. The LF is then outside the <p></p> tags and won't be rendered. Or redefine the LF character (>0A) with a blank character definition.

Who do we expect an answer from? Albert? I'm very happy with TheMole's suggestion above - hardware and software on one forum, eBay price chat etc. on another.

Can you get Powertran Cortex (TMS9995) PCBs ?
Stuart replied to Megatron1999's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Not at the moment. But I'm tinkering with the idea of a more complex TMS9995 board with CF card, socket for F18A, and more flexible memory. -

Send me a PM. I'll get 5 boards made which will take ~ 2 weeks. -
Are you going to arrange some sort of cover for the new PSU board? If you have the PEB apart again and accidentally put your pinkies in the wrong place, a PC PSU can give one hell of a jolt, even if it's been switched off for a while.

The timing crystal is 24 MHz, but again this is divided by 4 internally to give an effective clock speed of 6 MHz.

Is someone going to split the Development Resources pinned sticky and move the hardware stuff across to a pinned sticky in the "other" forum? Should be an easy job for someone as it's oh so easy to differentiate between hardware, development and programming ...

Can you get Powertran Cortex (TMS9995) PCBs ?

OK, the PCB for my TMS9995 breadboard project - http://www.avjd51.dsl.pipex.com/tms9995_breadboard/tms9995_breadboard.htm. Photo below. The board is obviously only partially built in this photo, but it has been completed and works. There are a few additions/changes to my original design: -- Addition of a power LED. -- Addition of an expansion connector. This has the same pinout as the 9995 itself, with the exception of the oscillator pins. This is provided merely as a convenience should you want to tinker with the hardware yourself. -- Set of jumper pins to connect/disconnect the pullup resistors for some of the unused processor control signals. Pullup resistor can be disconnected if the signal is to be driven through the expansion connector. -- The RS-232 connector is some sort of rectangular connector, not the usual D-type connector, and has a different pinout. If you want to use a D-type connector, you'll have to do a little bit of hard-wiring to it (only 3 wires needed). -- You'll have to sort out your own +5V power supply and a reset button. Board cost is UK£15 for the bare PCB, plus postage from the UK to wherever you are in the world. You'll need to source the components, connectors and IC sockets yourself. If you can't program your own EPROMs, I can supply the BASIC and/or Forth EPROMs for you with the board. These will be around UK£5 each. If you're interested, let me know. Stuart. -
That's caused by a timing bug in the VDP chip. It gets a mention in Karl Guttag's stuff on spatula-city.org.

Probably meant a TI-990/4. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TI-990#TI-990_models]

Stuart replied to Megatron1999's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
I'll try to get a photo. I'm sure I had one but can't find it. No expansion other than the processor signals being brought out to an (optional) connector. -

I don't think the chap who done the PCB is interested in selling them, but I can probably get the files and have a small run made. Price is around $25 per PCB plus postage. I'll try to get some more details and post them here. -

A batch of blank Cortex PCBs came up on eBay a few years ago but they all got snapped up. The Cortex schematics are available (www.powertrancortex.com) as well as decent photos of both sides of a blank PCB, so remanufacture is perfectly possible but you'll have to lay everything out. They're quite big PCBs as well so will be relatively pricey. I've got a design for a simple TMS9995 system (http://www.avjd51.dsl.pipex.com/tms9995_breadboard/tms9995_breadboard.htm) and there's a chap in Australia who has had a PCB for that manufactured, if that is of interest? -
I've been getting some surplus bits from a chap who 'imports' then sells the chip sets in the UK. All the chips I've tried have worked with the exception of one, which I think was a 9995. Definitely some fakes around - have got a couple of "TMS9904ANL" clock drivers bearing the full TI logo and branding. Except these don't exist - the correct chip number is *TIM*9904ANL, which is what TI actually made. They do work though. Did hear from someone with a Chinese-sourced 9995 which worked for about 10 minutes then failed, so buyer beware. Simon - if you happen to be in the UK then send me a PM - I can probably send you all you need. Stuart.

It does actually make more sense for new messages to be at the top, doesn't it? So I've made that tweak (and reset the chat text file as well). I've also tweaked it such that underscores in the ?m=message_text are converted to spaces.
