Say I am building a laptop with a 600XL MB and have failed twice in 64K upgrades( bad MB variants beetle'.).. I have space so i use the 1064 and still have the passthrough pbi... can i install the 1mb or vgxe?

i bought a bare 1200xl mb and took a crapload of pics in sections.. here is what I have right now.. if you want specific sexions just ask.. whole board but for some reason i cant upload it wanna play mosaic? merge like 50 pics some not blury some blurry.. email send to me in PM

I did the mod and was very clean and i got a blank screen after three boots. The waiting a few minutes between boots helped in the beginning but it died.. I was able to restore to 16K but if it worked the first time I should have the right MB.. Beetle stated that it depends on version of MB.. some work well others not so much..

gonna try once again on this mod. I have a few spare multiplexor chips and the board is already worked once.. perhaps i could buy a 64k unit from Beetle

I though about a game where two players would be wired together. I2C, serial etc. The communication bus would control the other players character. simple graphics or complex... page flipping or split screen would provide a visual as to your status and your opponents status. Mount a cheap back up camera style monitor (RCA jack) that would show your opponent your status and he has one as well showing you his. just a thought.

no I bought and alphacom 422 and when I fired it up in test mode it had paper advance issues. What i NEED is an atari 822! and an atari unterface cable for the alphacom.. I can live with a bad tooth(I got it for free).. but there is a long wide cartridge that inserts into the back of the alphacom that allows the unit to talk with the atari (850 i think).. its a schematic issue.. i can do any wiring needed but if the cartridge has a chip I am not looking good

Thanks Bill but its not a cable issue.. mabye.. I dont have a clue as to the "Atari Interface cartridge" that plugs into the alpha com 422

probably to me..bad tooth on the paper advance gear ..crunches every sixth line of text.. no worries you refunded me... if you dint me the alpha-com.., DAMN you if an atari 822 got away!

pulled a trackball from an old handheld unit aka a computer controller remote. more of a hardware question i guess, but.. what is the nature of the signals that the trackball produces?i can send power to the unit and get some left right signals back.. no difference from the original but is my trackball digital or did the original trackball act like an upside down mouse?

just bought an alpacom and i am in need of a schematic for the atari interface cable. I know it goes thru the 850 but 822's are none to be had. Beuler Bueler Bueler?? ANY 822 for sale? Douglas

I am putting together a laptop project. I can bust my ass to make a 1200XL worthy, or I can run a 130XE with a 1200XL keyboard. I pretty much have most upgrades that are available. all new stuff. 512k upgrade , myide, i meg ultimate upgrade, stereo upgrade, sio to ide, sio flash drive, i would like to use a laptop drive but I am not sure that the way to go anymore... by biggest issue is keyboard compatibility and I intend on using an ST power supply due to DVD player and 12v requirements for other things, 13.3" lcd screen as well as ni-cad recharging. has anyone built a 1200xl with a 130xe keyboard or vice versa? OK i have issues.. Douglas

I wouldn't think that there would be one. it was replaced so fast and 40 column was so weak that it was killed faster than an fsm could have been printed. Douglas

I am in dire need of one of these units. It is to actually put to work in my efforts. I am not a true collector as I throw a lot of docs and boxes away. I am a total fan of the 1020, and for all I know a 1027 brand new in box might work for a week( gotta be a fix on that!) Anyone .. Beuler Beuler Beuler????

I have looked at the schematics and determined that there is no real difference with the schematic. am i missing something? it appears to be identical..I would like to use one for the other and i can do the wiring.. Douglas

When you use a conductive trace, there may be a bit of resistance via the length of the trace. I am not sure in this case. The matching mylar sheets need a good connection and when you remove that minor sheet of cardboard you may lose a bit of pressure between the two sheets. I have found that a nub of solder placed properly on the upper and lower pad would help. Sorry photo load kills the upload

In other words, I fully removed the mylar, cleaned the pads, resoldered and cleaned the pads, added a solder nub and retraced the tear or loss of traces.
