  1. Shadow, That's interesting. I only have one Burgertime Catridge. I popped the top off of my BurgerTime catridge and took a look inside. It's unlike anything I've seen before. I have three epoxy glue tops over the ICS, and then I have one large IC. Looks like the inside of the the "Cloak and Dagger" 5200 game catridge in the movie
  2. I did some searching through the forums, and didn't see a previous post on this. Nor did I find anything via Google, so, I figured I would post. Let me know if this has been discussed in the past. I decided to fire up Burgertime on the 7800 this evening, and give a play--I used to play this as a kid, and had a lot of fun. On my 7800, when playing burgertime, when I get killed, the lives counter goes, 5, 4, 3, 0, and then rolls back to 99 and starts counting down from there. But, when I fire it up on the 2600, it plays normal. Maybe this only affects certain models of the 7800 as well? My serial number of the 7800 is 72R4BR A17B 5017910. It has the hole for the expansion port, but no connector is in place. Anybody else ran across this, or am I the only one who plays the 2600 version of Burgertime?
  3. I begged my parents for Maze Craze. It was great. I remember getting Donkey Kong for Christmas, and just being crushed that it only had 2 levels. Sky Jinks was another--I never really cared for "Beat the time" games. Activision, had their share of these, with Skiing, Barnstorming, and Sky Jinks, to name a few.
  4. i too scored a lot of games on Ebay with Mr. Do's Castle in it. I scored it, and a bunch of other common carts for around $30.
  5. I'm weird. But, do you want to know the reason i wanted a 5200 as a kid? Pac-Man. Not beause it looked more like the Arcade version, but because it had ROUND dots, instead of the 'wafers". I never understood the wafers. I was always under the impression Pac-Man was eating graham crackers
  6. I too had the same problem, and it was indeed a bad memory chip. On another related note, I also had a system that just would not power up. I turned it off, and it never came back on. Power supply and everything was good. Turned out it was the 4013 latch circuit IC chip, down by the power switch. Replaced it, and powered right up.
  7. man, you could probably kill someone with that controller if you hit them up aside the head with it. Awesome controller though. I don't think you got burned at all in that auction.
  8. Yah... we as kids played this game all day when we were snowed in from school. We had one hell of a high score. Mom made us turn it off and go to bed.
  9. Very cool... They are talking to Bushnell about this project, and isn't being pulled out of someone's butt. It would be cool if Bushnell does make a Cameo in it. Not sure how they could write that in, but maybe they could put Bushnell as the player in Andy Capps Tavern who puts the first quarter into the machine... now that would mean something.
  10. I do believe that is correct. It would be really cool if they filmed it in the original place on Borregas Avenue in Sunnyvale...
  11. Can't you just hear the movie trailer teaser in the movie theatre with that man with the really deep voice? "One man.... One game.... One Man and One Game Placed in a Small Tavern with Tennis Like Action. This Summer.... Don't miss the movie everybody will be talking about. With Leonardo DeCaprio as Nolan Bushnell. And Don Rickles as Jack Tramiel... Nolan Busnell is---Atari.... "Prepare to be Attacked!" Rated PG. Coming soon, to a Theatre near you.
  12. I'm really wondering how they are going to make this into a movie as well. For example, are they going to go into the era where the Tramiels take over atari and screw the company over? And who would make a good actor for Jack Tramiel? I vote Don Rickles Second, I wonder who they are talking to in order to get an accurate history of this movie? are they going to recreate the dumping of Catridges into a landfill? I hope this movie isn't total crap.
  13. Funny... as a kid, i remember watching that movie and leaning over to my brother in the movie theatre and saying "Look... they have an Atari!"
  14. In all honesty, I've done a few 2600's in the Dishwasher. I picked up a few 2600's at the Flea Market and they were CAKED with dirt. I put the top halves on the top rack and set it to air dry. They came out REALLY clean (and spot free too!). I didn't do the bottoms, because of the stickers on the bottom.
  15. Both are great games, but i prefer the original one. One thing I found odd in Pitfall II is that you had unlimited Lives. But, I enjoyed the fact that Pitfall II had a pleasant musical score to it--something you just didn't find in Atari 2600 at that time.
  16. it would be really cool if we could get in touch with some of these artists. I'd like to know some things like, how did they come up with the artwork? Did they talk with the programmers or was it strictly a marketing thing? It would also be cool if these guys had some unreleased artwork as well... As for favorite box Art, I was always a fan of H.E.R.O. from Activision (hence my avatar)... But, I remember Costmic Commuter having decent box art as well. Asteroids and Adventure were some of my favorites as well.
  17. If the Box is with the game, I'll buy it, but for the most part, I really like the games all by themselves. I like to get the games and instructions if possible. When Atari Re-released games, and finally introduced the 7800, I kept the boxes for any games I bought in that time period. I just collapsed most of them and put them in clear plastic bags and stored them in my closet. More room. But, like most of you, I don't have room to keep sealed catridges. Hell, I barely have enough room for the cartridges
  18. heh... i remember receiving this game years ago, and not having any instructions. I didn't know you had to use two controllers to play the game, and therefore, frustrated the hell out of me. Then, I found the solution to it online, and revisted the game. It was pretty darn innovative for it's time, and kind of fun.
  19. Excellent find! You are lucky I didn't find this one first I glance on Craigs List from time to time searching for Atari stuff in the OKC area, and I've never come up with anything. You have obviously proofed me wrong...
  20. I'm looking forward to this event! I hope to see you guys there!
  21. All the Paint pretty much removed itself of of my Lynx I unit on the ends from playing it so much It always bugged me that they actually painted the Lynx I--those damn cheap Tramiels
  22. In the Gray/Silver Catalog (C021776-Rev-A) from Atari, it lists Tempest as Trackball Compatible. Is this still going to be the case? This game looks freakin sweet!
  23. I say no harm as well. I've pretty much left a cartridge in my 2600 since 1982, and it still works great.
  24. I bet the real reason the Riveria didn't want you guys back was because all of you were too damn rowdy last year Damn you Atari nerds! (of course, I'm joking). That's a shame, as I had definete plans of going this year as well. I haven't been to one yet, and hell or high water, I was going this year. Hopefully, they will be able to get something together next year
  25. I bought mine once Atari lowered the Price to $99, which I guess was around 1991-1992??? I bought it at Toys R Us, as they were one of the only places at the time that was carrying anything Atari related. I bought it and "Chips Challenge" and "Todd's Adventure in Slime World". I played Chips Challenge to death, and it is one of my favorite puzzle games to this day. The Lynx I have is the Lynx I model, and I played it so much, the paint is totally worn off of the edges.
