  1. Should have posted this the Modern gaming section...didn't realize it was about the newer platforms. I'm a dolt! I did some poking around. Here's a link to gamepro about Atari releasing T3 game... http://www.gamepro.com/gamepro/domestic/ga...ews/29065.shtml
  2. I've heard stetchy details about muscle man Arnold being envoled with some new game coming out this fall. I may have my facts wrong, but what I gather it's a Terminator 3 game from OR for Atari. Anyone heard anything about this?
  3. This book is excellent! I loved it. If you've seen this book around...pick it up! One of my favorite bits is Chapter 3: Dead Grandma Story. Uses his Intellivision game Microsurgeon as a way to help fight his Grandma's cancer. It's a must read!
  4. Got one from ebay. On its way. Thanks everyone
  5. Anyone selling Gauntlet 4 for Genesis? Complete with box & intructions.
  6. oh yea, add one more to the RPG lot I found...Hydlide. I've only just started poking around with this one. It's a loose cart so I'm kind of playing blindly trying to figure it all out.
  7. I just got Adventures of Link (Zelda), Hereos of the Lance (AD&D). I have not played these before so I can't answer if they're good or not...but other than Dragon Warrior I (which is way fun) those are the RPGs I have and know of. I know, I've seen DW3 & 4 for about $40 each! geez!
  8. Cool pics! I'll to look for one of those!
  9. Kick a$$! I was just about to post that very burning question about Gaunlet being available for the Genesis. Smooth. Well, 1 Gauntlet for my Genesis coming right up! (and 4 players? WOW, very groovy)
  10. I found Gauntlet II out in the wild for 1.99. Got it home, droped it into the 'ol NES...about 4 hours later I finally snap out of it. Geez, addictive lil' bugger that one! I don't have the original Gaunlet, I've heard it's better. So in the mean time, I've got Gauntlet II to have the NES tell me "warrior shot the food!"...grrr, I hate when I do that!
  11. yeah, that poster needs to be displayed not behind a TV. But as with most of us, its all about real estate. Only so much room! I rather like your Universal Studios tie hanging from the blinds. Oh, yea, hell 'uv a collection too!
  12. Found 2 boxed, sealed NES games... Adventures of Dino Riki, and Strider. The still had they're orginal price tag on 'em! May '89 - $38.99 My first boxed NES find! Woohoo!
  13. I picked up 3 genesis games. Samurai Shodown, Fatal Fury2, Outlander. Samurai Shodown is flippin' wicked! I love this game! Outlander is a blast too, except the friggin' town scenes. I always get killed there. And FF2 is fun too, except I have no instructions yet, so I dont know any cool moves yet. Once I start exploring special moves in FF2, I'm sure It'll rock all the same. Anyway, thems the new games. This Sega system should have owned much earlier!
  14. Vice City kicks! I played GTA2 and 3 but vice rulz 'em all! The missions are a blast, all cars are available anywhere, unlike GTA3 where to get certain cars you have to be in certain districts. Crotch rockets, Harleys, dirtbikes, mopeds, helicopters, WOW! And the soundtrack! The 80's theme alone makes this game, for me, the best PS2 title out there!
  15. Its close match between the 2600 and the NES. Even though the 2600 has been in my life more than any other system...I now play them both equally. But one system I would say I love the most, I'm not sure if it counts as a system in this context.(?) My ol' Commodore 64. I think I had about 100 games or so. Many 'o hours spent on that thing!
  16. I picked up X-Men...complete in the box w/instructions just played it. I'm actually quite amazed with the sound of this system. Never owning a Sega before, I didn't know what to expect. In X-Men, there are alot of cool subtle sounds that enhance the game. And yea, graphics are pretty kick too! Now I just need a link or a goto of genesis sites that have game reviews, FAQ and all that goodness. Any good sites out there? Even a re-post of an earlier thread...I'm sure I'm not the only one whose asked for such a request. Oh yea, is the Sega CD thing that hooks side-by-side... are those common to find the the wild? Worth getting? The instruction booklet showed how to hook the CD up. I always thought the CD was sold as 1 peice. Goes to show how much I know!
  17. Well, I know the controller doesn't exactly make a great transition into real driving conditions, but the overall game aesthetics are pretty dead-on. All the basic are covered... down shifting and using the cars "revs" to brake into corners, keeping a favorable speed in corners and not spinning out, being able to learn to correct oversteering, heck, you can even learn alot by using the fully customized ugrades for the cars performance. I especially like the fully customized transmissions, great for different gear ratios on different tracks! Alot more to it than just hammering the gas and slamming it left...or right occasionally. Who knows, maybe a Dual Shock controller may be fun drive with...nawh!
  18. Earlier I posted that I saw a Genesis I for $10 bucks at a thrift store. Console and controller, thats it. Everyone here posted that the Genesis rocks. Well, a week or so pased I went to get my Genesis. I stopped at a different thriftshop to browse, and beaming in a glowing light, with angels singing...there sat a Sega Genesis box. I approached, and quickly opened it. WOW. A Sega Genesis (2) complete! And in mint condition! It's all wrapped in the original plastic too. Manuals, warranty cards, feed-back cards, poster/catalog. I picked this up earlier today, it's about 7 hours later, and I still can't get this stupid grin off my face! This system is sooo clean, I wonder if it was even used at all? Anyway...woohooo! I got my Genesis!!!!!!
  19. After playing GT2 and GT3 for some time now... I firmly believe these games have improved my (real) driving abilities. Thanks in part to the game developers, making the game physics so acurate and true to life in responce and feel. I don't know about anybody else, but 1 vote on AGREE, GT games make you you a better driver. Thanks PS2!
  20. I did go back and clean the carts again...some did still produce a bit of muck on the Q-tip. Then after a brief discussion with the place i bought the NES, we came to a solution of why these carts were not working. Aparently I had been pushing the carts too for into the slot. Thus resulting in a flickering or a blue screen. By inserting a cart just so it barely touches the lip as you puch the cart down into the bay, the lip then pushes the cart into the right place (insert cart a little, push it down, cart touches the lip, then let the lip push it down into the bay). Anyway, that seems to work. Games appear on screen now. Well, about 95% of the time, sometimes I load the cart...nope, pull it out and try it again untill i get a picture. ...seems a little too touchy if you ask me. Thanks all for the help!
  21. I saw a Sega Genesis at a thrift shop for 10 bucks. It was the console and the controller. Thats it. No power cord or other wires to hook up to the TV, and no games. And with thrift shop finds, you get stuff as-is. So I have no idea if it works. 10 bucks worth picking it up? I've never played any Genesis games, are there worthy titles out there that would make me happy owning a Genesis?
  22. I know, I've heard alcohol is naughty. Instead, to use windex. Thats I used to clean these NES carts. Maybe Windex isn't "harsh" enough to clean 'em, and thats why I'm still having problems. Windex on Q-tips that is. I havn't tried the "eraser on the contacts" yet. Thats always another step to try.
  23. alright, I'll give 'em another cleaning. It's weird. Because I did clean some again that already worked, and they ended not working after cleaning them. I don't remember having this much fussiness with my original NES. I had it for about 6-7 years. I never had a blinking light or carts being picky about working or being in the slot just right...weird. Eh, what are ya gonna do.
  24. ok, here is the rundown/timeline before the questions... 1. My NES is refurbished, Cleaned and re-chiped, bought used. 2. Games bought for the NES from same place as used NES. 3. All consoles and games are in working condition before being sold, prevents the "sold-as-is" kind of thing. After I bought my NES, I fired it up at home. I got the blink of death. It has a 90 day warranty, so took it back and thats when they re-chiped it. I have about 12 games. Some I did find at a garage sell. Anyway, now I'm ready to play...I fire it up, slap in Dragon Warrior I. Blue screen. Ok, slap in Super Mario 3, blinking red light and flashing screen. Geez. Alright next, Blades of Steel. YES this one works And so on and so on. I cleaned the garage sale carts, and the ones I bought that are supposed to be working...in all, about 5 of my games work, and rest blink, blue screen, or present weird pixeled screens. Question is this. Is this the carts, or is my console still jacked up? I thought NES carts were as durable as say 2600 carts. Didnt think much could go wrong after a good cleaning and all. Input and ideas are thanked in advance.
