I suck at them all. I don't own a single one. Have to fix that problem on of these days.

Welcome! I'm still trying to smoke the damn computer! I get so close, so close, then just when I think I've got 'em...wham-o. It's curtains! As a newcomer, you'll find this forum great! You can post questions or thoughts here, and someone will be able to help! My first question here, cleaning of those skittish paddles! Found out the proper way to clean 'em right here and they work great! Cheers!

I've heard to use Windex, because alcohol is too abrasive. Windex has the right amount of mix of cleaning solution and water.

Ever found a console in really unusual condition?
The MilkMan replied to gulag picture radio's topic in Atari 2600
what about carts? I'll let the pic tell the story... btw, the console I purchased (which this cart was part of) was equally nasty. Even the joysticks and weird dead bugs in them. The whole lot smelt of urine. I know, more than you needed to know. -
This may be old news, but I was just scrolling through a gaming mag and saw pics of the Matrix game. Article said its to be released same day as the movie. (I believe that date is May 16th...could be wrong) From some of the pics I saw, looks like it could be stellar! And looks to be available for most platforms...PS2 GC GBA XBOX Oh yea...Reload baby!!

I Can't Play An RPG Ever Again
The MilkMan replied to NovaXpress's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Other than Diablo on PS, and Dark alliance on PS2, I have never really been interested in RPGs. So, I decided to give my life a little change. I decided to find, and buy a (in my mind what I consider RPG games) my first real RPG game. I picked up Lunar 2:Eternal Blue for the PS. I'm only into the game about 3 hours. I'm going slow, and taking it all in. Because this is really a different style of gaming for me. Different being that the fights are turn based, rather then like in Diablo, it's who is the fastest and strongest. It's pretty fun so far. Fun enough that I might look into owning another title down the road. That Breath of Fire:Quarter Dragon (on PS2) thats coming out looks like it might be cool. So, I guess this is really nothing more than a RPG noob checking in. -
Did the "level of posts you make, changes your status" change? Just a couple of days ago I had 2 Joystick icons, now I'm back to one. What the hell?

The 10 Best NES Games of All Time.
The MilkMan replied to King Atari's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I know its not considered a classic, but one of my all time favs is Blades of Steel! I would loose tons of hours on that game. It would usually end up forgeting about playing hockey and just skate into each triggering the fight sequence bashing each other into oblivion! Oh yea, did they ever make a Galaga version for NES? 'Cause that game rocks! -
I too recently found carts in their boxes. Commons, but I got them non the less. Casio, Video Olympics, Air Sea Battle, Black Jack. These are complete I think, came with the game, instructions, catalog, and a mail-in blue card(warranty i think?) Nothing beats stumbling across boxed games, heart rate goes up...the eyes light up...and you cause a commotion because you let out an uncontrollable verbal berrage of emotions! (OH YES! WOW! HOLY *&%^!!)

I remeber visiting my cousins in Ames Iowa in the early to mid 80's . They took me to a HUGE place called Dark Star. It was crazy! Multi-levels, different rooms, and sometimes a smoke machine would blast certain areas! It was very dark, and had a ton of blinking lights all over the place. The door where you came in had a long hallway, at the end was a mirror. The floor had this runway lighting effect, and the mirror made it look like it went on forever! Man, that arcade was the coolest I'd ever seen.

Dragon Warrior be good stuff!
The MilkMan replied to King Atari's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I just picked up a copy of Dragon Warrior the other day. But I haven't had a chance to play it yet...my friggin' NES went on the "blink". It's being serviced at a local gaming shop. CANT WAIT! CANT WAIT! -
Are games AUStralia considered PAL format? I found a game on ebay thats from AUS. Would like to get it if it will work in our NTSC consoles. "Aussie Rules Footy" is the game BTW.

I know I'm not the only one who does this. It's when you play a game and you're solo, rather than playing the computer (or for those games that don't offer a computer) the imagination takes over. Suddenly, just like at the office, you develop your own game. For example... 1. Atari's Outlaw. 2 player game. The object. I select the scrolling stagecoach option, and see how well I can shoot up the stagecoach with out hittting the other player. 2. Movie Mode. In this case "Top Gun" I use 2 games for this. I start with Atari's Real Sports Volleyball. Playing hunkable Maverick & Goose against Ice man! Then me & Goose strap into our F-15's using M Networks Air Raiders for the gripping dog fight battle! I'm sure there are plenty of other games that you could combine and come up with more game variations and movie modes! Anybody else have any?

My Wico is not a bat handle, but these controllers IMHO are practically bomb proof! (Wico) Well, maybe not, but very sturdy and can handle the abuse! Trust me, mine have seen some violent abuse...keep comin' back for more. And besides, a switchable fire button from the base OR the top of the handle! How cool is that!

Right place to post this?...Atari Porfolio
The MilkMan replied to The MilkMan's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Oh YEA!, I remember that little gadget! I thought it was a movie prop. Huh, pretty cool. -
What causes a high frequency hum when the Atari is on?
The MilkMan replied to The MilkMan's topic in Atari 2600
Cool! I'll try that. Sounds like I'll be looking for something to replace! -
I was just surfing the net, and without trying to find it, I came across the Atari Portfolio. Kind of like a PDA. Looks like it may have been the first of its kind (I think released in '89)?? Then I searched e-bay. I came up with memory cards and that was about it. Anyone remeber this little jewel? Was it innovatve...ahead of it's time? Or did the competition run over it like a Mac truck? I don't recall ever seeing one of these.

What causes a high frequency hum when the Atari is on?
The MilkMan replied to The MilkMan's topic in Atari 2600
I don't really know what that means...but no, there seems to be no picture quality loss between the two units. These tubes, refering to the TV? Or is that within the console? Your dealing with less a than knowledable electrician here. -
What causes a high frequency hum when the Atari is on?
The MilkMan replied to The MilkMan's topic in Atari 2600
No. I'm using an original power supply. I've used this power supply on the other 2600, which produces no whine. -
What causes a high frequency hum when the Atari is on?
The MilkMan replied to The MilkMan's topic in Atari 2600
I dont think so. I have another Atari that works perfectly. I'm using it for process of illimination. The good Atari produces no such noise. So, I think its something with the less than good Atari. -
What causes a high frequency hum when the Atari is on?
The MilkMan replied to The MilkMan's topic in Atari 2600
let me re-phrase, its more of a high pitch ring. -
I've got a 2600 that has a high freq. pitch when its powered up. I get an image, can play games etc. but it just has this noise. I switched the channel selector to channel 2 and that reduces it to a more acceptable level...but any ideas that would help rid it all together?

Could this be the problem? When I took everything apart, I noticed that this capacitor wire (item in question circled) was not in the hole of the board. I've set it back into place. (as pictured) Should this be soldered in place, because I can lift it out of the hole. Just kind of hanging there.
