Pick up a few boxed commons. Nothing to get excited about, until...I opened the box. I pulled out a rolled up slip of paper that was shoved into a corner in the box. It was a sale receipt for the purchase of Boxing!
Not only that, but the date (3.29.80) was the same as the day I bought it (3.29.07)! How flipping crazy!!!
I just thought that was the coolest ever.
Yes, they were .94 each.

I don't have any sort of setup where I can clamp the wheel to a table so I just use the integrated lap rest with the pedals on the floor in front of me. I popped in PGR3, which I hadn't played since launch day due to my ineptness with the controller, changed the controller config to Wheel in the menu, and made a few laps on a couple of different courses. It felt completely natural, almost like driving a normal car in third person. I didn't post record times by any means, but I moved way beyond my inability to control the game just by using the wheel.
The build quality of the wheel is excellent. The force feedback feels very nice in games which specifically support it, such as PGR3. Same holds true for the responsiveness of the pedals and the steering. The effect was not nearly so pleasant in NFS Carbon or Burnout Revenge, but much better than a gamepad. I imagine all the future racers will support the wheel much like PGR3. There is now a downloadable update to Test Drive that adds wheel support, but I don't have the game so I can't comment on that.
Hope that helps a little. I've got no complaints about it, but I'm not the best person to ask about wheels specifically.
See thats just it. I think this wheel will really shine when used with those sim racing games like PGR3 and Forza. To me, Burnout and the like are more of a button masher race game versus driver finesse. Yeah, I think I'm going to have to go get this. Thanks for your input!

Anyone else have any input on this? I've been debating one also but at $150 It's good to read a little feedback first

I know! I may just have to go pick this up at some point. I want to attach some hand clamps to it so I can fabricate psuedo handle bars while racing MotoGP!

Yeah I dont know, I've never really gone there searching for games. Guess I should start.
Tapper was on top of the box. I was so excited when I saw that! I've always wanted to have/play that one. The others were just added bonus. I got these during my lunch break, now I have to wait to get home to play 'em!
Right now, I'm coasting on that proverbial "collecting high"
-
Just wanted to share a personal collecting accomplishment. Other than a few must have titles (from ebay), my collection is entirely finds from the wild or gifts. Needless to say, I think my rarest game was a R5. The rest, a slew of R1-4s.
Went into a pawn shop looking for a effect pedal for my guitar, found nothing. So decided to browse the store. Saw a box of Atari carts. Picked thru what I needed and left the rest (common stuff).
Walked away with these for $10 bucks. Up N Down, my first R7!!!!

You know, the bolts that hold carts together. I need to find a tool that unscrews those little guys. Thought I'd read somewhere here what you guys were using if you don't have one of those nifty little devices.
I picked up a NES toaster style console too, and it has those same damn screws. I want to tear it apart to clean it.
Can you even find that type of screwdriver at a local hardware shop?
Even a link to another thread will do.

Funny? Well, it kept me entertained. I got a chuckle here and there. I'd say he did his job.
At least he has video documentation of his MS support "progress". Geez, (knock on something wood) I don't want 360 problems and have to go thru all that nonsense.

Are you saying 07 is harder putting?
What about Tiger vision? Did that carry over? And does a caddy tip still say something like 4 ft left and 3 inches short or whatever while putting?
Power boost. Still have that? Where is it on a 360 controller?

I've played my friends Xbox Tiger Woods 2005, in fact we play it about 3 times a week.
I want to get a copy for my 360. I see that there is 2006 and a 2007 for the 360. Are they the same? One better than the other?
I really like and am used to the play stlye and format of 2005 on the Xbox. Which would suit me best?
Thanks!

Being both, I am in a-double no-win situation.
Same here! I must not be a "collector" though.
I have niether and I'm not going to pay that kind of cash. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of both movies, and would love to have them, but I'll have to wait till the day I might find them in the wild.

Well I (we) did see something different. Last night I asked my girlfriend to look at both M.A.D. and Commando Raid because she was there with me when I played it Saturday. She agrees. While the play was like Commando Raid, the background was different (not rainbow colors), and the canon was not in that trench/hole place. It was on level ground. Who knows.

-
ok, I must be on something then. I went home for lunch to try it out. Black screen, nothing but missles and the occational helicopter just like described here. Then I put in Commando Raid just to see.
When I played this on Saturday, (I just played it one time to see if the cart worked) it had the same play as Commando Raid, but not a hole in the ground that the canon sat in, and not a rainbow background. It was solid light blue.
Sorry everyone, I MUST have put Commando Raid in at some point then. Because I turned it on and off like 20 times maybe thinking it had an alternate game, but I couldn't get the results to happen as I described.
-
It sounds more like you're describing another US Games release Commando Raid. Did they put the wrong game in your cartridge?
No, it doesn't look like that. Hmm, weird. I'll have to play it some more, and try out the 2 player also.
The canon and buildings on each side look exactly like the screen shots listed here.

I got this over the weekend. I just went and looked at the manual here for additional info and found something interesting. The manual seems to describe that missles are the focus of the game. Even scoring is all about shooting down the missles. But when I played (1 player), missles are an after thought. There were so many paratroppers to deal with, and missles were a ratio of like 1 to every 10 paratroppers falling from planes.
Even the screen shots listed here have a black background (but maybe thats 2 player mode which I have not tried yet.) The background when I played was light blue. Lots of planes with paratroopers, and helicopters, very little missles.
I have not played this for very long, so maybe all that changes over the course of gameplay. Anyway, just curious as to what other who have played experienced.

If I can't decide ("doing the stare" at my bookshelf looking for something to play), I'll have my girlfriend pick a couple out. Works everytime for me.

Mine is a noisy buggar as well. It sits verticle. You can hear it rev all the time.
-
Yeah, that is the one. Although the link in the thread no longer goes to the list....poop!
-
Didn't someone start an archieve around here at one point? It was getting to be a pretty good list of 3rd party joysticks that were made for the 2600. If I remember it was being updated regularly. I have not seen it (or looked for it I guess) in a while.
If someone remembers it, could you bump that thread or provide a link.

Did you try a disc cleaner? Its a good investment if you don't have one already. Used Dreamcast games come to mind mostly.
The gaming shop tried that. There was a blemish on the CD from the factory. The guy at the store apologized, and couldn't even fathom how it was put on the shelf in the first place.
I played a bit last night. I've only just started. I'm just beyond the prison cell, down in the hallways.
I spent alot of time just playing with the character creation options. I think this is going to be fun stuff!

FRAG!!
That used copy I bought had a blemish on the disc. The 360 wouldn't read it. So I have not played yet.
I took it back today for an exchange. They did not have another one, so I went with a new copy.
Dammit, this sucks! I wanted to play this AND have the CE version.

Get this game, lol, seriously you will NOT be disappointed one bit. I havent got the new downloadable content yet, but will get knights of the nine soon.
The two different cases are the Collector's Edition Case and the normal case, i got the CE case new when it was first released and it came w/ the coin, guide to the empire, a big map, and the cool making of oblivion dvd. The other one just comes with the manual and the game, so definately get the CE, it might be better to find it new tho, on ebay or something? idk, it doesnt make a difference though, you'll love this game the same either, the extra stuff is awesome tho, so if i was you, i wouldnt get the noraml case.
Well I did it. Over the lunch hour I went and picked up the CE version. I guess this is the part where I tell everyone I'll see them a few days later. I'll be lost in another land, oblivious (ha ha) to my surroundings.

Oh, here is what I picked up. All with instructions, and found another receipt from '81.
