  5. Hoy... console glitch city!  Both my SNES' seem to have developed problems... one has glitchy Mode 7, and the other has blown-out brightness. Last week my Genesis developed a memory error where the sprites show up as white rectangles.  This hobby sure has technical issues with the aging electronics.

Thanks for the thoughts there.  That Super Nt sure looks tempting.  Hard to justify the expense tho since I already have a Retron 3- but the SNES is it's weak point (bad audio).  Anyways, I like fixing things, but replacing a SNES CPU is an intimidating prospect!

I have a few SNESs all right and some Genesises (plus RetroN 5 and clone NES/SNES/Genesis etc)...But the ANALOGUE stuff is king of the castle!  No matter what or how many you already have,..Personally I Highly Recommend them!  I can't remember ever having any issue with them...Plus then you could repair your SNES at your own pace (or have someone else do it) and still have one at the ready!   Just a thought...

One of mine did too also, whilst sitting in a cupboard for a few years. The chips are known to rot, something about their manufacturing process makes them slowly decay over time. And unfortunately, the only solution is to extract chips from a known good snes to fix them.

  6. Secret Santa 2022!

    Join the Adventure!!!

  7. 10 systems in one stereo cabinet... a bit tougher then I thought!

Oh, so "game console" is an euphemism here?

heh.  I didn't intend on that.  Good euphemism tho. I wish it were so easy.

I would make a joke about "insert cartridge" but it might cause someone to report me. So I did anyway...

  16. One of the nuances I enjoy about this hobby is the medley of smells of cologne and hair product from 2nd hand consoles and patch cords.

@GoldLeader. The smell changes "colour" and "flavour" as it ages. It goes through a series of phases or stages if you will. Each lasting about 3 years each. All you do match the smell, hardness, and color to the chart! For multiple owners a slide-rule is needed to supplement the chart.

What's impressive about all these odours is the intensity and twanginess. Some of them really burn your nasal cavity. And to think this inside closed living quarters. ZOMG!

  17. Made a power supply for my Bentley Compuvision out of a Nokia phone charger.  I've still got it, baby!

  18. Fixing/restoring an Action52 cartridge.  Cue Cheetahmen music.

  19. Nothing like knowing a guest is coming over to get the game room spic and span.  Pizza, beer and games in T minus an hour!

Haha! That is what happens in our house. Quickly clean up, just before the guests arrive ?

  20. My kids are old enough to play Adventures of Lolo together, vieing over the controller. Very fun to watch.

  21. Listening to acorns fall on my roof. I swear the ground is COVERED with them. There's got to be 100x more acorns this year then I've seen in the 6 years I've been here.

If you think that's bad, try having a radio transmitter.
