  1. I was seriously considering going the same route this year. Please enjoy it immensely for me, okay?
  2. I've been longing for a short stack of Xonox single-ender carts for the 2600 for over a year. I owned two already. My display rack, which is an old single-serving Kellogg's cereal rack, only has room for a stack of 6 Atari 2600 carts in each slot. Since there's 8 single enders Xonox releases, I picked my favorite 6 (I forgoed Motocross Racer and Spike's Peak -which goes for $200+ by itself). Took patience to wait for affordable copies to come along, and I kept the price down by bidding on ones with somewhat wrecked labels. Last one arrived last night. Tomarc the Barbarian. Feeling pretty good. This is enough for the collection this year I think.
  3. Speaking of the cold war, I just watched Wargames 2 tonight, while I was wrapping Christmas presents. I found it enjoyable. Lots of nice fan service. Also nice to see flip phones again. I'm doing the CTW and kids controller extravaganza over Christmas, so hopefully will have some cool stuff to add here. Also my daughter turns 2 right after Christmas so the subject title is accurate again.
  4. THANKS SO MUCH! This really was the last thing on Santa's list. Great, now let's see how they react. After they get some time behind these games, I'm planning on updating my old thread... http://atariage.com/forums/topic/274802-atari-with-a-2-year-old/page-1 It's due for an update soon anyhow. Toddler anecdotes abound.
  5. Lol! Great review as always. I actually like this more than Joust, for one player at least. There's more to taking out the enemies then just being above the guy, as you described with how the lance works. A lot going on with this 8x8 character.
  6. I like how you refered to the message I sent as "polite" when I clearly remember using the word "dick".
  7. I've had some good luck reproducing Kids controller overlays using cardstock and "rolling" a large marble over an area to indent. Makes buttons! Anyways, I'm giving my two kids the CTW deluxe package for Christmas (all four games and 2 kids controllers), but I'm missing a Cookie Monster Munch overlay. Can someone post a high resolution scan (like 300 dpi or more) ? It would be seriously appreciated. Wasn't able to find a nice image floating around on the internet last I checked. Also if anyone is interested in reproducing homemade ones of their own, I can post scans of my originals for the other three games.
  8. Damnit... When my inbox said "New reply to Cookie Monster Munch... etc." I got all excited. But yeah, you are right.
  9. Hiya! Anybody out there have a Cookie Monster Munch controller overlay for the Kid's Controller? For sale or trade or whatever? I've got the cart, instructions and even the box, but no overlay, and it's something I'd like to get under the Xmas tree for my 3-year-old. Lemme know if you can help. Thanks! CaptainBreakout
  10. If you have a CD-i, you owe it to yourself to play Christmas Crisis within the next 10 days. Especially if you have little kids.

That's a good one. If you want to go real obscure there's Ho! Ho! Ho! on the Apple ][ / C64.

  11. Yes! Big thanks to Grig... This has been, and continues to be, a lot of fun! Three cheers and happy life day!
  12. Off the top of my head... Dino Eggs (C64 or Apple II) Short Circuit (Apple II) Robotron (most any system) Any good pinball sim Polaris (2600) Ladybug (2600) Death Rally (PC) Star Control 2 Master of Orion 1 or 2 Metroid up through Prime series Another shout out to Spare Change Thunder Force III Balloon Fight Oystron Tempest 2000 Rebooteroids Tumble Pop ... Warlords, Arkanoid, any good take or twist on Breakout of course (and I count times block games like Tetris or Plotting)
  13. I like to mention my stacking solution for M-Network carts whenever someone brings up their awkward shape. Those little sheets of adhesive clear rubber "feet" you can buy at most hardware stores. They about about 3/16" thick, 1/2" diameter and shapped like little blisters or tiny clear servings of flan. Put two of them under the label end of M-Network games and then they stack fine. Nice review as always. I appreciate the comparison with the intellivision version too since I was planning on giving that version a whirl soon. Nice insight on the programming side of things too, SpiceWare.
  14. I was also bummed this Taiwan Cooper version lacked the voice sample. That would have made it way more interestingly mediocre. Still I do remember having one fun session with it. And yes... This cart is particularly badly made physically, and I think I rotated it out of my cart display just because ya have to fight it into the console. Also, thanks for mentioning how truly baffling the artwork selection is.
  15. I was lucky... I bought this game boxed, with manual slip, at a record store for something like 20 bucks. This was a long time ago, if one is referencing life phases... About 16 years or so. But this was at a time when collecting Atari games was less geek-shiek. 20 bucks also was the most I'd paid for an Atari game up to that time. The record store guy said "Nah, Im not coming down in price... This one is really rare from what I can tell." He was right... And your review was spot on. It's a lot of fun actually. Therefore this game was responsible for me taking the collection in the direction I've gone since then... Obscure, fun and weird being qualities valued highest.
  16. This game is great. I first played it on an emulator. Had to have a cart of it just for the weirdness factor. Took me forever to locate a Taiwan Cooper cart. I highly recommend this game also. It will frustrate you like crazy until you "get it"... Then you will be all nerves managing rolling nuts, snail positions, and audible ques. Thanks for the nice write up DoctorSpuds. It's good to see this game get noticed.
  17. Wow this looks awesome! My wife an I are mixes of Swede, Finn and German... So this is really nifty. Will have to she her. Love this project!
  18. Hello! I'm looking for the 2600 manuals below. Got any? Will consider offering cash or a trade if that's more interesting to you. Star Fox (Mythicon) Frontline (Coleco -2600 version) Spy Hunter Boing! Polaris Cookie Monster Munch (controller overlay) Sir Lancelot Stargate (color printing) Demolition Herby Star Gunner Ram-It Telesys catalog Xonox Catalog Spectravision catalog Cross Force China Syndrome Obelix Mogul Maniac Room of Doom Tooth Protectors Quadrun Please let me know if you would like to negotiate over one or several and we can get the ball rolling. Hehe, I know some of these are crazy rare and I'll treat them accordingly. Maybe some are more likely... Still I never know what's out there so here they all are.
  19. Hehe... We should all be so lucky. Games are a total dud of an idea for my wife too, but thankfully I think I got her covered. Ancestry dot come package seems perfect for her since she's on a genealogy kick, if that gives anyone here any ideas. Also I'm working on a surprise new package of promotional material for her art products. I'm sure it's worth some points that the promotiomal material is kind of jewelry related. I have to get several more ducks in a row to pull this off tho. I hope nobody minds if I say this, but since I'm on the subject... www.cosmiccircles.com is her website. We'd be happy to sell you some of her window clings (Cosmic Circles) and cards if you still need gifts in the "real world". Special AtariAge Secret Santa Discount ... Use promo code "Thank You Friend" and I'd also love it if you PM me Trippy space and geometric imagry is her thing (makes sense why I'd marry her in that light, right?) ...
  20. THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS Having a lot of temptation to open this enticing box. Haven't felt like this for who knows how long. Strange and exotic type of fun! Loving this Secret Santa thing.
  21. USPS tracking says it is outside by the garage!!! I'm thinking I'm going to bust sucker open. I have plenty to deal with this holiday season without all this near irresistible temptation. Update... TRYING... TO... RESIST...
  22. I work at a small grocery store and do their sign art... I drew this sketch at work today for our upcoming December promotional chalkboard. Since we're all caught up in the Secret Santa spirit, I thought I'd better share it. This thread was definitely on my mind since tracking numbers are a-flyin!
  23. I have the periscope/marquee of a Battlezone arcade game in the trunk of my car. Its in good shape and large. Not sure what to do with it at this point.

      GoldLeader

Realistically if it's big and pointless on its own, If you don't need/want it, you might sell it to a Battlezone owner, but they'd have to need it as an upgrade to the one they have...

The idea I like the best so far is to make an Ipod dock out of it.

  25. Thanks. I kinda wanted this one but now I'm thinking twice. There's other weirdly interesting paddle games that are cheaper. Encounter at L5 maybe... Or even Astrosmash.
