  1. Yeah. We're going to cover as much as possible. If someone wants to contribute home computer mods or repairs no one will stop them. We could actually probably do with some more computer-related material since it had such a large gaming scene unto itself.
  2. I'm also involved with this. So far things have been going great, with different people posting quality pictures of console motherboards and whatnot. We're hoping we can get this thing to be a valuable resource for anyone who is foraying into the world of console repair and modification.
  3. Man, that Atari Video Music is one of the best finds I've ever seen. I've been wanting one of those ever since I found out about them.
  4. I stopped at Savers today and bought a couple old Windows games. X-Men Cartoon Maker and Mario Teaches Typing 2. They were $1.99 a piece. I also stopped by the flea market this morning and found some really cool stuff. I passed on a portable Betamax play because I already have two players, this one was $20, and it requires a proprietary AC adapter, which wasn't included. I also passed on a CED player. Someone had a player and about 25 discs, but they were asking $5 for each disc, so I didn't bother asking about the player. What I did find which I'm excited about is a Hitachi portable VCR with a 5" LCD screen. It came in a carrying case and had all the manuals, adapters (except the DC cable), the battery charger, two batteries, and the original sale receipt (which I love finding when I buy something). The batteries didn't work when I bought it, so I was able to talk them down to $15 instead of the original $35. When I got it home I started charging a battery, but it kept shutting off and the power light would blink (which means it's 'overheated'. Every time it would do that I would unplug it for about ten seconds and plug it back in and it would start charging again for a while. Eventually it stopped shutting off and I was able to get the battery to charge fully (about an hour and a half). And now it works! I can't wait to use this baby.
  5. I'd never even heard of Lost Treasure or Pay Day before, but I'm always looking for new board games to try, and you can't really go wrong with free games. I still need to have a game night so I can give the past couple games I've gotten a try as well.
  6. I had a pretty good day at the flea market today with my brother who's on leave from the Army for about a month. Sailor Moon VHS was $1. I bought it because I find the title humourous and because one of my friends likes Sailor Moon. The Orange Box was $1. I felt like taking a $1 gamble and lost. The Key is already being used by someone. Oh well. Warcraft III expansion was $1. I don't really care for Warcraft III, but I figured I might as well get the expansion if it was only a dollar. Random VCD was $1. I bought it only because the words PIRATED COPY are printed right on the front and back labels. I thought it was funny. Rob-B-Hood VCD was $2. I'm a big fan of Jackie Chan's non-American films, and I've been wanting to see Rob-B-Hood for a while. Unlike most VCDs I've come across, this one has an option for English subtitles. Frogger board game was $3. It appears to have all the pieces. Frogger is one of my favourite arcade games, so I'm pretty excited to have the board game now. Pay Day and Lost Treasure were free. One of the vendors who I bought some spicy brown mustard from saw my Frogger board game and led me to another vendor who had some old games. It was near the end of the day, so he was going to throw them away. I went through the games and found two games which look interesting and which I think are complete and he told me I could have them for free because he was going to throw them out anyway. I'm going to remember this guy, because that was a total bro gesture, for lack of other words.
  7. Is $49.99 really a loss? I don't own any of the newer systems and haven't payed attention to the prices. What do the games usually go for?
  8. Locally owned thrift stores and small church/charity run shops tend to be better than the larger chains, at least in terms of prices. I've found selection to be pretty bad everywhere. If I didn't have the flea market I probably wouldn't collect at all.
  9. I was in the more Asian part of town yesterday and picked up some fun things at a Goodwill. Austin Powers and Snatch are VCDs. Snatch looks pretty good, but Austin Powers looks like ass. Fargo on DVD because I want the special features (I already have it on VHS and Laserdisc). Wallace & Gromit is a Korean DVD. Region 3, so I don't have any way to watch it at the moment. Tommy Nitro's Karate Adventure is a still sealed VHS. I bought it because it's probably really bad and I like that sort of thing. The tie has cameras on it. I think it looks cool. They also had two Laserdisc players, but wanted $38 a piece, and I'm not so Laserdisc crazy that I need five players. How do I post an image from an external size and have it not appear full size on this board? I see other people do it and I can't seem to figure it out and always end up using the gallery feature.
  10. Nice score on the drum machine. I've been thinking it's about time I got one.
  11. u wot m8? u think ur so much bttr thn teh rest ov us bcuz u use full wordzz?? get rekt lolololllll I know what you mean, mate. I can hardly understand half of what's being said anymore, and I can't see chatspeak being any easier to write. It took about three times longer writing that ditty up there than it did writing this. It just doesn't make sense.
  12. I personally care more about the condition of my consoles than I do the condition of my games. I have a lot of really messed up games, but I'm okay with it. If one of my consoles gets chip or a permanent mark on it a freak out a little bit.
  13. I finally snatched myself a big lot on Craigslist. A few of the controllers have damaged cables, one 2600 has a missing switch, and the SNES and a Zapper have some yellowing, but for the most part everything's in good condition. A guy was selling his personal collection which had been in the garage for a while. Got everything for $200. If anything catches your fancy don't hesitate to PM me. I now officially have too much. Systems: Three Atari 2600s One Sears Tele-Games heavy sixer Two Sega Genesis' (model one) One Super Nintendo One Nintendo 64 Controllers: Seven Atari Joystick One third party Atari joystick One set of Atari Paddles One Driving Atari Controller One Atari Keyboard controller Four Genesis controllers of various condition Four NES Zappers of various condition One NES joypad One SNES joypad One N64 controller Two NES Advantage Controllers (one boxed) Game Gear: Game Gear TV Tuner Battery Pack Screen Magnifier AC Adapter Seven Games (three of them being the same) Carrying Case Boxed Goods: NES Satellite NES Advantage (mentioned earlier) N64 RF Adapter Sega Game Gear Big Window II NES Mother Ship (trashed box) Misc: Several AC Adapters (Two Atari, Two N64, One Sega, misc.) Various Mario/Luigi toys Video Cable RF Cable Sega RF Adapter Game Boy Four Player Adapter Game Boy Printer (no battery cover) Sega Genesis Game Genie Two N64 Memory Cards Star Wars Tiger Handheld Games: Various games for NES, Genesis, Atari, and one game for N64. God, this is a really long post. Sorry about that.
  14. I found this nifty little bootleg of the Matrix at a thrift store tonight. I haven't been able to watch it yet, but so far I've gotten a big kick out of the back cover. It's got the cast and a URL for 'The Perfect Storm' listed and also lists www.starwars.com after it states that it's 'Theatrical Widescreen Format'. Sorry for the chitty picture. If anyone wants to get a better look I can do a scan and upload it tomorrow after school.
  15. Revenge of the Beefsteak Tomatoes looks pretty interesting. I'm going to have to look into getting a copy.
  16. I just found the camera on Craigslist and bought it for five dollars. Now I just need to find a Game Boy Pocket link cable and I'm set. I'm going to see if I can't get a couple games which will use the printer capabilities as well.
  17. From what I understand you can use it with the Game Boy camera to take photos and print out really low quality black and white pictures. I think there's something about printing things from Pokemon games as well, but I'm not sure about that one.
  18. I went to the flea market today and picked up a couple new toys: Game Boy Printer: $3 Osprey 500WM Capture Device: $2
  19. I have a nice hoard of Sega systems I've picked up at the flea market over the past several months, but I don't have AC adapters for them. Some items I'm looking to buy are: Sega Genesis model 1 AC adapter (for use with a model 1 Sega CD because I hear they use the same adapters) Genesis model 2 A/V cable (Stereo preferred, but not a big deal) Sega Saturn A/V cable Sega Saturn controller (3D controller preferred, but not a big deal at the moment) Nintendo 64 A/V cable Nintendo Game Boy Pocket link cable (for use with a Game Boy printer) That's what I need. I'm hoping to get as much of it as I can from one seller. I was going to order from collectorscardsandgames.com, but I figured I'd ask around here first.
  20. I'm jelly. I would love to come across a Turbografx in the wild at such a price! You're going to have fun posting in these forums. There are a lot of super cool people around here, and we don't have too much drama.
  21. I found a really interesting knockoff console at my local Savers for five dollars last night. I haven't been able to find any info about it on the internet yet, but I have been able to figure out a few things: PAL '1,200,000 in 1' Two 9-pin controller ports and one 15-pin controller port Has a cartridge slot which fits Famicom carts It's really cheap and looks to be held together mostly with hot glue. I have to run it through my Aiwa Worldwide VCR to convert the signal to NTSC, but it appears to be working just fine. I'll be checking it out a bit more over the next couple weeks.
  22. I had a pretty amazing day at the flea market today! I wasn't expecting to find anything too great because it's been kind of lousy lately, but I found quite a few cool new toys and even had to pass up on a couple things. The Loot: Sega CD model one with no cables or power adaptor: $8 Suncom 'The Party Quiz Game' controllers: $4 6 in 1 Gameboy game cartridge: $1 Three Laserdiscs (Clockwork Orange, Weird Science, and Se7en [still sealed]): $5 I passed up on a Tandy 102 portable computer which was being sold for eight dollars but didn't have anything else with it and was missing the door to the battery compartment, and an Atari C-380 Video Pinball, which was also eight dollars, because I already have one and I wanted to hold onto some cash in case I came across anything else. All in all, a very good day at the market.
