It means I was trying to open a big Access file on the network drive over VPN, it gave me an error. So I went all the way down to work to find that the file was corrupted. It shouldn't have happened, cause it should have been a read only operation. Yet, it did happen.
There's nothing inherent with a network drive that make it less likely to have file corruption. In fact, being available over a network makes it more susceptible to worms and viruses. If the database is used by an external application, its interaction there could have also corrupted the file.
