Well I just built a new one in February.. prior to that it was back ~2006. However it had many minor upgrades along the way (SSD, RAM, etc.)

Never buy new, they go obsolete as soon as you unpack the damn things, bought my P4 at Value Village for $30, had it since 2004

I buy a computer that is generally 7-8 years off the market and use that for about nine to ten years.
