This article doesn't have anyone from our Intellivision collecting folks (e.g. CMart). What gives? http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-08-20-near-mint-a-conversation-with-game-collectors -

I thought that the game was done in IntyBASIC, which didn't have ECS music support. Please share details, that is intriguing! -

The drums (M1, etc) are a great touch. What is your process for adding them to a track (maybe this is for the Programming subforum)? Great work! -

I would like to hope that some kind of announcement would be made on the Intellivisionaries site about new stuff happening, a revamped website, etc. I would really hope that a lottery would be held for IP transfer to a super fan, and that i win the lottery. -
IntelliTool (IDE for IntyBASIC)
First Spear replied to nanochess's topic in Intellivision Programming
It is fun. One thing I miss, compared to using UltraEdit, is the ability to undo. And include custom constants and prologue/epilogue files. But it is a great piece of software. This is the kind of thing that I wanted to do as a complete web application, cloud-hosted, so I could develop anywhere and have all of my tooling available. But this is real and not just vapor in my head. -
It's been a while, here's something fairly original. I don't like the long note breaks, but they are OK and I'm kind of done with tinkering with this one. I know other folks are busy making games, so maybe this will help someone that needs a title page song or intermission song or something. HTH. Free to use, don't even have to credit me if you don't want.

Ready...Player One - anyone read it?
First Spear replied to IMBerzerk's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I read the book a few years ago, and remember it as very, very good. There were not just clips of nostalgia, but a complexity to how the nostalgic bits are interwoven. I am prepared to be disappointed by the movie, precisely because the book was so deep and detailed. I think the concept would work much better if it was a high-budget Netflix series, where there is a chance to develop background and weave 80's tech nostalgia in properly to make the story move. I don't think the book can be fit into ~2 hours without it being much more than a super CGI extravaganza like that Adam Sandler movie from a year or 2 ago. -
In case you haven't seen it before -

I was ahowing the kids some Wing Commander cartoons earlier this week, and was thinking about how cool it would be to have something similar to a favorite Intellivision game. Even limiting to the original 125, there seems like more than 1 game could make a 10-episode toon series (with likeable characters and drama and etc) . Excluding stuff that already has some kind of media tie in, it would be cool to see a show about Space Spartans Bomb Squad Christmas Carol Dreadnaught Factor Lock n Chase Dragonfire Fathom If there are any animators out there, I'm open to talk about development and script writing.

That is amazing! Dude, you have super powers. ...and... is the input a new IntyBASIC language addon "Input statement"?
-
I wonder what it would take, basically I'm looking for input from Those Who Would Know , to get a stripped down Z-Machine running on an inellivision+ECS. With the success of the Zorkduino platform a while ago, maybe it's not "impossible" to get something runing on our super-minimal system. I know Zork would be impossible (we don't have the text screen resolution).... But maybe not a really small freeware game from the Z-machine community at large?

Don't wait! The Intellivision has the best looking developers. You want to be here. -
When I played this game in its original years, it was always with my brother, I "drove" and he "shot" from the other controller, otherwise there's no way to excel. We did the same for Tron Discs and AD&D Cloudy Mountain. We didn't know about not being able to use the disc+keypad on the same controller issue until I read about it online 20 years later.

If you take a look at games that use similar video hardware, the background is almost always black. Take a look at the original 125 games on the Inty and you will see many solid colors with "terrain add-ins" - think of Space Hawk stars, Worm Whomper plants, etc. -

Quick question on the code - why don't you need "debounce" for the control? Thanks. -
It would be cool to see some new games on a FB2, something to really grab folks, that might be inspired by or resemble great ones. For example, I just had a brain "flash" (what passes for a "flash" for me anyway) about a game called "Donut Time". The head baker/chef has to assemble all different types of donuts, chased by some evil healthy foods (like celery). With what folks have proven with games like Piggy Bank, that would be an original winner and a great add to the console.

jzIntv Intellivoice volume - how to set that? It appears that [pageup] [pagedown] are for the general volume, but I need to understand how to do the equivalent of increasing the dial on the real hardware. Thanks.

We need a skating game. I am thinking of something like the racing events in Winter Games on 8-bit computers. Need to think of this some more, but it's do-able. What do you think? Ice Skating is one thing but there could also be roller blade racing (different but similar motion and "friction" mechanics).

Something that jumped into my head just now (I can't turn off my brain with this stuff). I am imagining a box that fits the Intellivision II style+colors and daisy-chains through the cartridge port and plays CDs or DVDs. Includes software to make VU meters or moiré patterns reactive to beats on the Intellivision screen, using controllers to select/pause/play songs. Absolutely no real modern utility, but would be cool.

The ROM. I don't have time to try it on my LTO Flash any time soon, maybe you will, so here it is.
