No need, Do a power and composite mod, Then you will enjoy the systen more
-
You will have to take out your multimeter for a ride... But power mods for 4 port 5200's are so easy and convenient to do that i don't see the point in fixing that.

Many say the good old 5200 lacks homebrew support these days nonetheless 2012 have brought * SINISTAR for only 25 bucks * not just 1 but 2 new composite video mods.-awesome quality- * Atarimax Ultimate sd cart with LOTS of A8 conversions ,THE best thing ever to happen to the system! * NOS aluminium spare front parts for the case from a known supplier * 4 to 5 new games on the horizon including the long awaited Tempest , Gauntlet and Cloack & Dagger. * New custom made 5200 Leather 5200 covers and some ebay sellers are making cheap custom joystick converters what more can the 5200 fan wish for ??!!

please menu.txt for all pacman plus homebrews
-
A search of the forums should find it. It'll most likely be quite out of date so you'll need to add the homebrews that you want to play manually. I'm a developer so mine won't be of any use to you. Search is your friend . for example tried to make a new menu called PPLUS with mooncresta on it the txt is this Moon cresta mcresta HSC 78BIOS then converted with the utiliy to PPLUS.cc2 and copied mcresta to the games directoty copied the cc2 files to root but the menu does not show PPLUS ?!

Frantic is amazing, can't believe it's the 2600 Haven't played it on the 2600. I was talking about the ColecoVision homebrew. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRxdl2T8nlQ

Trying to decide between a 800XL VS. 5200
fernando marrin replied to chuckster24's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
In your opinion, however, I can only think of a handful of games that use an analog controller There were very few retro-arcade games that use analog controls too. All my favorites used standard arcade joysticks that work the same as classic Atari joysticks but of arcade quality, and as far as rotary or trackball games, the 8-bit has those too. The ONLY way you will get a retro-arcade experience is on the actual arcade machines or mame. the 5200 and 8-bit are retro, but not arcade. the 5200 was the home arcade of the early 80's the A8 only the greatest computer nah, that was the Colecovision The CV was amazing, though didn't have the arcade names of the day -
Well, "better" is subjective opinion of course but the majority of C64 games use the 2:1 pixel multicolour mode because the designers chose to do that. If you compare like for like, the earlier Dizzy games, Monty on the Run or Star Quake are all 1:1 pixel graphics and a higher resolution on the C64. (This comparison has to be done on real hardware of course, emulator screenshots aren't stretched out in the same way the real machine is on a telly...) so you 're saying they chose to lower the resolution of their c64 games? don't think so...

can't wait for the upcoming Outrun for the A8
